Disambiguation link notification for July 3

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bullet (metal band), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Swedish. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Teahouse talkback: you've got messages!

Hello, Rutilant/Archive 1. Your question has been answered at the Teahouse Q&A board. Feel free to reply there!
Please note that all old questions are archived after 2-3 days of inactivity. Message added by — Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 19:10, 6 July 2016 (UTC). (You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{teahouse talkback}} template).
Hey, thanks for notifying but I've seen that answer already TOG 19:18, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

Archiving

I need a bot to archive my talk comment when I mark as done (by adding some template like {{done}}). But It's maybe impossible somehow, Isn't it?

You may want to check out the following code used by A930913 on their talk page:

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveThis
|archiveprefix=User talk:A930913/BracketBotArchives/
|format= %%i
|age=600
|index=yes
|archivebox=yes
|archivenow=<nowiki>{{tlu|User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}},{{resolved|,{{Resolved|,{{done}},{{Done}},{{User:A930913/BBresolved|yes}}</nowiki>
|maxarchsize=150000
|numberstart=1
}}

The "archivenow=" parameter gives a list of codes that will mark a thread for immediate archiving. I know from experience that it usually works within a day. So ClueBot can do what you want, though you may have to adapt the rest of the code. See User:ClueBot III and related pages for further instructions on how to set up the bot. (talk page stalker) "Real and genuine" or not, possibly controversial content (like the one you added) needs to be based on reliable published sources to allow our readers to verify it on their own. You didn't provide any. Huon (talk) 07:54, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
@122.169.94.45: Hi, IPs were adding those infos again and again - 1234567 and finally 8 so I reverted without leaving any edit summary plus left template of unconstructive editing. Those informations were unsourced and possibly original research too, please refrain adding them back if you can't provide reliable source, Happy editing. — TOG 08:56, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Archiving

@Huon: Look what bot did here, It archived all comments leaving one; ignoring minkeepthreads=10TOG 09:05, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

I'm not an expert on the bot. I would assume that archivenow overrides minkeepthreads, but the bot also archived some threads that neither had one of the keywords it was meant to look for (such as {{done}}) nor were old enough. On the other hand it seems to not have recognized the "Welcome" thread, possibly because the line with the section heading begins with a HTML comment. You may want to ask at the bot's talk page for more specific help; maybe this is some known effect due to the interaction of your chosen parameters. Or you can wait for more data - possibly the bot archives everything after the first occurrence of the keyword, no matter what? That's something you could easily set up a test for. Huon (talk) 12:28, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Hmm yeah. I've fixed up some parameters, will wait few days and see If bot works as expected. — TOG 14:23, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi The Optimistic Guy. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! NeilN talk to me 14:51, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Diana West (lactation consultant) is just shameless self promotion for her own financial gain. It just further promotes the "white savior" role, which typically causes more harm than good. This woman is in no way a notable public figure, nor does she possess a skill of any real value. My guess is you're probably associated with or are her, which explicitly violates the standards of Wikipedia. All of the sources cited in this article are from organizations that she is a member. It's pseudo-scientific and misleading to people who need real medical consultation. IP blocks

Hi RainFall. The relevant guideline is here: WP:IPBLENGTH. If the user uses the same IP again then we can block for a longer period as it would provide evidence to show the IP address was somewhat static. --NeilN talk to me 06:10, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

WP:REVDEL says "There is no dedicated on-wiki forum for requesting revision deletion under other circumstances.", but why? — RainFall 06:23, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Easiest way is to go to an active admin's talk page and request a revdel if one is really necessary. These admins Category:Wikipedia_administrators_willing_to_handle_RevisionDelete_requests are your best bet. I'm on that list. To answer your question, it's because the material that should be revdelled shouldn't be publicized but handled quietly. --NeilN talk to me 06:27, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

  Guideline and policy news

  • A request for comment is currently open to reevaluate the activity requirements for administrators.
  • Administrators who are blocked have the technical ability to block the administrator who blocked their own account. A recent request for comment has amended the blocking policy to clarify that this ability should only be used in exceptional circumstances, such as account compromises, where there is a clear and immediate need.
  • A request for comment closed with a consensus in favor of deprecating The Sun as a permissible reference, and creating an edit filter to warn users who attempt to cite it.

  Technical news

  • A discussion regarding an overhaul of the format and appearance of Wikipedia:Requests for page protection is in progress (permalink). The proposed changes will make it easier to create requests for those who are not using Twinkle. The workflow for administrators at this venue will largely be unchanged. Additionally, there are plans to archive requests similar to how it is done at WP:PERM, where historical records are kept so that prior requests can more easily be searched for.

Thanks for updating one of the reports I responded to and for pointing out to me exactly where you caught that these accounts were promotional and represented a company or organization. I'd add this to your future reports in cases like these, where no contributions exist and the information may not immediately be found in a typical internet search. Then I won't look so stupid when I go to evaluate them. :-P ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:52, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

@Oshwah: I usually do that in such cases. I've had multiple tabs open for Wikipedia: watchlist, multiple contribution pages, edit filter log, new changes, and finally individual edit filter log. I assumed their edits were only "tagged" by the filter when I saw their "contribs" wasn't red-linked. I didn't update my report (well, not before you so reasonably declined them... lol) 'cause I hoped an admin would check the edit filter log regardless. By the way, I admire your work at AIV and UAA. —RainFall 06:19, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
No worries. Like I said, I appreciated the response so that I could make sure that I didn't miss anything; obviously I did... lol. I appreciate the kind words you included as well. :-) I'm happy that the contributions, time, and effort that I give to this project makes at least somewhat of an impact on at least one other person around here... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:30, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

Aye aye, sir, I was reverting a vandalism-only account, socking and probably is a long-term abuse. —RainFall 09:10, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

Abelmoschus Esculentus' User Scripts

Dear all. Recently, our community lost a dedicated user, Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk). Among their projects were a number of user scripts that they left behind. I (DannyS712) have copied the scripts, and have taken over maintaining them. You currently import one or more of Abelmoschus Esculentus' scripts, and I thought that you might want to import a maintained version. Links to each script are provided below.

If you have any questions, please reach out and talk to me. --DannyS712 (talk) 00:30, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

@DannyS712: Hmm, I don't currently have any of their scripts imported, but I did fork one recently. Do you plan on working on the ContribSearch? I've been wanting to change its popup design and add a new feature or two, but I don't seem to have enough time for it. —RainFall 04:57, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
I can work on that, sure. Or, if you want to take it over, I can tell people to import yours... what features were you going to add? --DannyS712 (talk) 05:01, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
@DannyS712:
  1. Custom interval.
  2. Change its link's position.
  3. Automatically get the username if it's running on the user contribution page.
  4. Fix the scroll bar (it goes beyond the container div).
  5. Parse wikilinks in edit summary.
  6. And probably integrate ajax rollback.
RainFall 05:11, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
@RainFall: Sure, I'll work on adding those. I probably won't get a chance for a week, but some of them should be fairly easy. (notes: 1: window.XYZ (ibid 2), 3: api, 4: whatever sets the location) --DannyS712 (talk) 05:21, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Spam link

I haven't added any inappropriate link to the page Jazz (mobile network operator). Jazz is the fastest data network over here, and it received Speedtest Award from Ookla. I updated the page and provided helpful information to users reading that page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fahadpw (talkcontribs) 07:01, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

@Fahadpw: Yes, you have; you've added an inappropriate link. You are were previously reverted doing so as an IP (diff), did it again as this user (diff), and are doing it again (diff). Our policy on external links doesn't allow addition of links to blogs and personal web pages. Also, color me surprised if one doesn't think it's being done for promotional purposes. —RainFall 07:57, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

@RainFall: I tried adding the info to contribute to the page. Read what I have written. The Reference is 100% valid. I tried posting it without a username, but then I created an account and added the info using that. It was the first time I tried editing and adding info to that page. I have to learn how to properly use wikipedia, the wiki text markups etc.

1000s of pages needs to be updated, tell me how should one add info to a page if it is counted as SPAM every time?
