Thomas Kaplan copyright violation
Hi Roland - could you confirm this for a copyright violation. The user Plot Spoiler keeps adding it. It is a word-for-word copy (although he keeps adding a broken link) http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2000/0807/6604064a.html The offending paragraph is under Early life and education beginning with "While researching his DPhil dissertation at Oxford...." He also has been removing properly sourced information (including a March 2013 Forbes assessment of the subject as a billionaire because it may no longer be true). Hello RolandR, I`m Ketxus. I think that there is a mistake and you are wrong. It`s true that I don´t know well how to use Wikipedia. There is no spam link in my contribs, the link is to another article in English Wikipedia (an autor in these cases). I don`t understand where is the problem but you have removed information about bibliography which, in my opinion, is relevant in the matter (most of it in "further reading"). Be sure, I don´t want to do spam and I ask for you help. Please, Can you consider the removed information again? - As I explained in the note on your talk page, you can't simply add a title to the External Links section of several pages which do not even mention this title, and without any attempt to explain, either in the article or on the talk page, why this is relevant and appropriate. There are thousands of books which mention Homer; why is this particular one, which is not cited in the article and does not appear to relate specifically to Homer, worthy of inclusion? The fact that virtually all of your 161 edits appears to relate to promoting this philosopher and his works suggests that you may have a conflict of interest here. In any case, repeated addition of the same external link, without explanation, to several apparently unrelated articles is regarded as spamming, and is not permitted on Wikipedia. I'm looking at your reverts for Peter Kim based on http://www.bioeconomy.it/en/judging-panel. The edits that you reverted don't seem to be a. not copyright infringement, b. appropriate paraphrasing, c. the content which seems to be copied by the site that you mentioned. - Well, I don't intend to get into an edit war on this, and really I'm not that interested in the article. And I find it difficult to discern the reasoning behind your double negatives. But it seems obvious to me that the edit was a direct cut-and-paste of the source; or at least it was six months ago, when I reverted, the source may have been changed since then. Your assertion that the source cited was itself citing Wikipedia reinforces my concern at the week nature of the sources in this article. Are you sure that the sources are reliable? - Odd, I didn't get a notice of a response... Since I did write a good chunk of the original text I trusted my sources at the time. However, most of his Merck biography seems to been moved since his resignation. The HHMI bio is also out of date. However, this is pretty standard with most biographies of academics. Ragdoll Productions
Did you check what Connorsworld2011 was removing from Ragdoll Productions? As far as I can see his removals were correct (no mentioning of Ragdoll Productions) and yours were incorrect. That makes it quite unfair to block him indefinitely as vandalism-only account. A temporary block for editwarring is more fair. The Banner talk 02:39, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

- I saw that post too, and agree with your point in favor of ATG's position. For what it's worth, I thought I'd clear up a common misconception about Mormon belief: the rituals performed on behalf of deceased relatives are not regarded as automatically converting them to Mormonism, but rather as offering the deceased an opportunity in the afterlife to accept or reject those sacraments. Since the outcome of that decision by the deceased is not generally known to the living, those people are not generally regarded by Mormons as de facto members of the religion, and it would be very rare to find a Mormon arguing to categorize them as such. But in any case, I quite agree that in matters of personal identity such as religious belief, sexuality, ethnicity, and so forth, BLP demands high quality sourcing and great caution in publicly associating living people with such labels. alanyst 17:43, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

This edit didn't revert an unnecessary Americanism, it restored "moblization" which is misspelled in any kind of English. In response to your comment on my talk page...
You indicated that on the Administrators page I should not place 'personal details' - in this cased the author of a book who was (in my view) sabotaging a page to match his book and acting in his own financial self interest. A page that in no substantial way disagrees with his commercial advantage and has partisan content is something I must report. How does one do so privately since is this case his ID is critical to the issue? Leopardtail (talk) 15:31, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Unless the editor in question has revealed their identity on Wikipedia, then such an edit is expressly forbidden. And the policy states "Unless unintentional and non-malicious (for example, where Wikipedians know each other off-site and may inadvertently post personal information, such as using the other person's real name in discussions), attempted outing is grounds for an immediate block." You would be extremely ill-advised to repeat such an edit. RolandR (talk) 17:17, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- @Leopardtail: RolandR was entirely correct; the policy on outing takes precedence over the COI guideline. Both the COI page (linked earlier) and WP:COI/N discuss how to handle COIs without outing. Do not readd this material. LFaraone 19:20, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

"A historic" or "an historic"?
Hello. You recently reverted my edit to Marxism in which I changed "an historic" to "a historic". You claimed that this was incorrect, however most of the sources that I can find say that "a historic" is correct because the H has become a pronounced consonant. (See [1] for a better explanation.) - I did not claim that "this was incorrect"; I objected when you referred to your edit as "fixing a grammatical error". It was not an error, and thew fact that you perceive your usage to be "preferable" is neither here nor there. Unless there is good reason to alter an established usage, there is no need to go round Wikipedia replacing "a" with an". Nor, indeed, would it be acceptable to go round amending articles to my preferred usage. The rule on Wikipedia is to retain existing usage, so I intend to revert your repeated pettifogging reversion and return the article to the state it has been in for the past five years. Hi Books & Bytes recipients: The Wikipedia Library has been expanding rapidly and we need some help! We currently have 10 signups for free account access open and several more in the works... In order to help with those signups, distribute access codes, and manage accounts we'll need 2-3 more Account Coordinators.

Dear RR, thank you for your warning, I am well aware of the 3 RR rule and the heightened sensitivity of the page we are addressing. I think I have made my disquiet at your argumentation very clear, however you may be assured I shall not be reverting the category status again - I think it was fairly plain by quoting Joshua, that my last revert was its last. I think the position of the page as it stands is a serious and foolish anomaly, quite inconsistent with wiki, the egregious error of which will become increasingly obvious, for reasons I need not reiterate here.
