GA reassessment of United States Air Force Academy

Tigert as UK coach

Greetings, Rogerd. I appreciate your follow-up regarding your source for John J. Tigert's two separate terms as Kentucky's basketball coach. Wanted to let you know that I finally had some time to spend on the official UK athletics website last night, and I was able to confirm the accuracy of your source regarding Tigert's two separate stints as the UK men's basketball coach. Interestingly, another editor, Cmadler, discovered that Tigert also had two separate coaching stints in charge of the UK women's basketball team. Tigert was a unique personality—I doubt you could find another guy who coached college football and men's and women's basketball at a major university (as well as serving as president of a major university). Thanks, but you (obviously) deserve a lot more credit than I do. In fact, I had forgotten that I started the article. I was stubbing out some of the older UK basketball coaches, and I stumbled on the fact that Tigert went on later in life to do much bigger things. Connie Mack IV

I see that you were the editor who added "Cornelius McGillicuddy" as the legal name for Connie Mack IV.[1] I can't find any source which uses that name for him (though there are sources for his father). I know that was several years ago, but do you know of any sources that describe it as his legal name?   Will Beback  talk  23:16, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Wow, you are right, five years ago!! I am not sure where I got the info. I should have referenced it, but I was a newby back then. It could have been that I assumed that because his father's legal name was Cornelius McGillicuddy, that he would have been. I guess we need to revert it. It sounds like at some point, the family name legally became Mack, but I am not sure when. --rogerd (talk) 02:32, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

RfC on Media Matters for America at WP:RS

Hello there, Roger. There was a recent discussion at WP:ANI regarding the systematic removal of Media Matters for America as a reliable source. I've started an RfC regarding MMfA, Media Research Center, Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting, Newsbusters etc. at Wikipedia: Identifying reliable sources. Some of us believe that these hyperpartisan sources should never be used as factual sources at Wikipedia, due to their tendency to selective edit facts. Affirming Pentecostal Church

To clarify, the Affirming Pentecostal Church is not run out of someone's home. When it was first founded, a physical address was needed, and so the home address of the incorporator, now one of the Associate Bishops, was used. His home is in Sheridan, IN. The church is actually headquartered in Indianapolis, at True Love Apostolic Church. The church maintains other offices, as well. For example, the Missions department is located at High Praises International Ministries, in Elgin, IL. The treasurer's office is at Family Worship Center in Mishawaka, IN. Youth Ministries are located at Gulf Coast Worship Center, in New Orleans. The Education department is operated from the Bible school, incorporated in Michigan. I didn't mean to slight this organization, perhaps my edit summary let you to think that. The article had a tag that said that it was missing the lat/long coordinates in Indiana. The only address in Indiana I found on the org's website was a residence, which I thought would be inappropriate to put the lat/long in the article of a residence. It doesn't sound like this is an article that would be appropriate to be geotagged anyway because as far as I can tell, most religious organizations do not have their headquarters geotagged (see Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Orthodox Union and United Methodist Church. --rogerd (talk) 16:40, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

MSU Interview

Dear rogerd,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

• Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
• Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
• All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
• All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
• The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. The source you provided for the Tubby Smith to Texas Tech thing isn't an official AD source. It's just repeating the rumor of what the AP article stated. Until a Tech Athletic Department person actually confirms it, it's just rumor and speculation. the O-3 edits are spam -- please stop

your O-3 edits are spam (repeated edits not based on any RS [reliable source] or indeed any research; they are mostly inappropriate and useless to readers) -- and they are often false-- the O-3 business is late 20th century. Mahan was an admiral. Lincoln was never in the US Army...he had a state militia rank. Rjensen (talk) 20:49, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

SPAM?! What do you possibly mean by that? Do you know what that means? You are accusing me of some kind of advertising?? Please explain yourself. As far as my disambiguation, I was trying to identify which officers held the Navy/Coast Guard rank vs. who held the Army/MC/AF rank. Yes, I know that the O-3 designation didn't exist prior to WWII, but that is besides the point. Lincoln held the state militia rank of Captain, which is equivalent to the modern US Army O-3 rank, even if he held it for a short time during the Black Hawk war. --rogerd (talk) 20:57, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

spam = repeated thoughtless edits that are inappropriate and not based on any RS or any research. "which is equivalent to the modern US Army O-3 rank" is OR and wildly misleading (compare what Lincoln had to do to get his rank and what one has to do today). Move Duckworth RfC to BLPN

Hello. You are one of 6 or 7 Admins who has supported including DOB info in the Duckworth article: Talk:Tammy Duckworth#RfC on providing full date of birth. Yesterday I proposed moving the discussion to the BLPN so that we could get a policy determination on this and thereby avoid such prolonged and repeated discussions on article talk pages. In the last few comments I haven't seen a positive to my proposal. Would you care to opine on moving the discussion? (I am posting this message to each of the admins.) Thanks. – S.
