Malmö FF in Europe FLC

Hi!

I noticed that you voted keep in the discussion of removing FL status of Rosenborg BK in Europe. The same user that nominated the list for FLRC also opposed the FLC of Malmö FF in Europe based on the same reasons. Would you care to take a look at the FLC? As of now there haven't been much discussion except for the opposition by NapHit. Thanks! --Reckless182 (talk) 00:11, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks a bunch for your contributions to the list, The list looks even better with the addition of the images! --Reckless182 (talk) 19:25, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
You're welcome pal, but the credit should still be all yours! All I have done is dolled it up a little. Cliftonian (talk) 19:28, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
I also trampled all over a few of your edits inadvertently, I have attempted to restore the bits you added but if there are any I have missed please replace them. I will leave the article alone now, so don't worry about edit conflicts. Cliftonian (talk) 19:43, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Don't worry about it! I've fixed the remaining stuff in the lead. --Reckless182 (talk) 20:01, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Great stuff. Keep up the good work. Cliftonian (talk) 20:03, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Just as quick question, whats your opinion on sourcing in the lead? Ref nr1 is a book that I used as a reference for most of the matches and facts in the lead before I added all UEFA and RSSSF links. A the moment it is placed after "The club's most recent expedition into continental competition was in the 2011–12 season, when they played in the Europa League." Given that the book was published in 2009 this doesn't make too much sense. I could move the ref to the sentence before that one or remove it all together since all the other sources would probably be more than enough for the lead. What do you think? --Reckless182 (talk) 20:13, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
I would remove it altogether, you don't need it there in my opinion. That done you can remove the book reference too, as it won't be used anymore. Cliftonian (talk) 20:17, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Alright, thanks! I discovered that there was another unused book that is in the book list as well. I'll remove it. --Reckless182 (talk) 20:21, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
The Malmo book is used, I put it in; it should go back in. Cliftonian (talk) 20:23, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Don't worry, I've done it. Cliftonian (talk) 20:40, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Hold up: where are the stats for the International Football Cup in 1961–62? Cliftonian (talk) 20:47, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Do you mean the pre 1995 tournament? The cup wasn't organized by UEFA pre 1995 and is not recognized by them. I don't think its a good idea to include stats from non UEFA tournaments as there would be a lot of tournaments with different statuses that might be disputed, Royal League and the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup for example. It would be hard to keep track of which tournaments to include and which not to include. --Reckless182 (talk) 20:52, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Ohhhh. Okay, sorry, that makes sense, 100%. I've removed it from the lead as it was a bit confusing, even for me as a seasoned football guy... Cliftonian (talk) 20:53, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
No problems, I had a long list of matches from the International Football Cup and Inter-Cities Fairs Cup included in the list before but decided to remove them altogether to avoid the problem, they were also largely unsourced and it was difficult to find reliable information on dates and stadiums etc. --Reckless182 (talk) 20:57, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Understandable. Your list is starting to look really good now, I doubt there will be too many more obstacles before it gets to FL. Cliftonian (talk) 20:58, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes it looks perfect as it is now. A great uplift since when the list looked like this just a couple of weeks ago. I think this demonstrates of how effective peer review in the form of FLC and a couple of hard days work in the beginning can be. I will definitely try to do the same for List of Malmö FF seasons, List of Malmö FF records and statistics and List of Malmö FF players just mention a few :) --Reckless182 (talk) 21:17, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Okay, well let me know when you are going to put them up for FLC and I will lend a hand :) Cliftonian (talk) 23:43, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Will do! Best wishes for the new year! --Reckless182 (talk) 00:18, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Main page appearance: Mathew Charles Lamb

This is a note to let the main editors of Mathew Charles Lamb know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on January 11, 2012. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 11, 2012. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Mathew Charles Lamb (1948–1976) was a Canadian spree killer. Seventeen days after his release from jail in June 1966, Lamb took a shotgun from his uncle's house and went on a shooting spree around his home-town of Windsor, Ontario, killing two strangers and wounding two more. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity in January 1967, and so avoided Canada's mandatory death penalty for capital murder, but was committed for an indefinite time in psychiatric care. He displayed a profound recovery over the course of six years at Penetanguishene Mental Health Centre's maximum security Oak Ridge unit. The Executive Council of Ontario released Lamb in early 1973 on the condition that he spend a year under the supervision of Dr Elliot Barker, his long-time psychiatrist at Oak Ridge. With Barker's encouragement, Lamb volunteered for the Rhodesian Security Forces in late 1973. He served with distinction in the Rhodesian Light Infantry and Special Air Service until he was killed in action on 7 November 1976, soon after his promotion to lance-corporal. He received what Newsweek called "a hero's funeral" in the Rhodesian capital, Salisbury, before his ashes were returned to Windsor. (more...)

Hi!

I was just wondering if you could help me out with the transfer information? I created this new page a few days ago. Since I'm not an expert on transfers, can you take a look and see if I have filled in everything correctly? Thanks. Arbero (talk) 10:10, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Just a few things:
  1. I would write either "Out on loan" or "Loans out", not "Loan out".
  2. You have "£35.000" as Connor's transfer fee. Put "£35,000" instead. (This may just be a typo on your part, but I still thought I should say).
  3. I would give the names of the countries, not just the flags, and give the first name of each player in the squad list using the {{sortname}} template, particularly since these players are not so well known.
  4. I don't think it's really necessary to put "BBC Sport (British Broadcasting Corporation)" on each reference. BBC is such a well-known acronym that you can just put that as the publisher, and "London" as the location to remove any doubt. Putting "BBC Sport" is rather superfluous in my opinion.
Otherwise it looks like a very good job so far. Well done. Cliftonian (talk) 11:10, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
I did some changes like you suggested, but about the name of the countries, if I have to add the names, then I would probably have to switch template. Also, I kept BBC Sport, so people don't confuse it with other BBC sections, ie news, travel, etc.. Are you ok with that? Arbero (talk) 17:34, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
It's not really up to me, but if you want to do that that seems to be acceptable around other pages I have seen. I'm just talking personal preference. About the template, if that's the template you are using, stick with it. It's not one I am familiar with, that's all. Cliftonian (talk) 20:15, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the review and the compliment on the article! I have left responses to your comments and, I hope, brought the article up to scratch now. There were a few problems with sources but I hope nothing major. Cliftonian (talk) 07:17, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Merveilleux, I believe, is the correct term. Cliftonian (talk) 17:05, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Well done!

Thanks for a fine series of articles on Rhodesia, Mr C! Your 7RR is an espcially fine one. I've always heard a rumour that they brought their own armoured car with them?Foofbun (talk) 22:07, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind words! I couldn't find anything about their own armoured car, but I'll keep on looking. Thanks for the tip! Cliftonian (talk) 22:09, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
I was there after they had vanished. Non complimentary tall tales of their performance always guaranteed a good laugh over rounds of drinks or 'sundowners', but as you know, English and Masons are strong Francophobes so it's good your article is balanced. I had never known of their connection to the Comoros. It's wonderful you are recording things for posterity. Foofbun (talk) 23:09, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
Thank you again for your very kind words. It's good to know people appreciate the articles I contribute. I'll keep you posted on any more Rhodesia articles I do, and look forward to hearing from you some more. I wish I could have been there with you guys. I like to think that by writing these articles I am still contributing, somehow. Cliftonian (talk) 23:28, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
You certainly are contributing! I find it rather sickening that the SAME people who called me nasty names back up to a year or two ago are only just now telling me what a ratbag Mr. M is. I must admit I've been surprised my wife's women's magazines (ie New Hypochondriac, Vapid and Yap Yap Yap) haven't been doing stories on how being a merciless dictator makes you live longer... Foofbun (talk) 23:57, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
These people soon change their tune once you tell them about the missionary atrocities, Viscount massacres, farm attacks and so on. They simply aren't told about them, so they don't understand – how can they? You don't even really need to mention any of that; a sure-fire way to get them interested is to tell them how Mugabe's "War Veterans" treat animals! Eeesh. Cliftonian (talk) 08:16, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
All the sheeple go by 'fashion' rather than 'conviction'. Foofbun (talk) 20:27, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
And that is (tragically) why, in the modern world, the terrorists always win in the end. Cliftonian (talk) 20:30, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Falsification of sources?

Hi Cliftonian. What is the "falsification of sources" you refer to here and here? Thanks. Jayjg (talk) 19:38, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

I was contacted today by a friend of mine who has been researching information for a book she has been writing, and had been seeking confirmation on the information which I removed from those two articles. She contacted Romany experts in the Czech Republic and spoke to academics in Cologne regarding it, and also found and looked through the book cited (Miriam Novitch, Le génocide des Tziganes sous le régime nazi (Genocide of Gypsies by the Nazi Regime), Paris, AMIF, 1968). The cited document (Emil Proester, Vraždění čs. cikánů v Buchenwaldu (The murder of Czech Gypsies in Buchenwald). Document No. UV CSPB K-135 on deposit in the Archives of the Museum of the Fighters Against Nazism, Prague. 1940), which was claimed to be quoted in this book, does not actually appear in it, and does not appear to exist. According to the conversations my friend had with the academics in Germany and the Czech Republic, the "Archives of the Museum of the Fighters Against Nazism, Prague" itself does not exist either. It therefore appears to me that a falsification of sources has taken place.
I have forwarded the relevant emails to you. Cliftonian (talk) 19:44, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for doing that. Have you checked who added that false information to the article? Jayjg (talk) 23:03, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Information was added to the Zyklon B article by the since banned user Altenmann (talk · contribs), way back in February 2005 (!), then to the Gas chamber article by the same user in May 2006. Wowee. I believe we may have a new record for the Wikipedia hoax page. Cliftonian (talk) 23:37, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
