Delhi Public School Noida AFC

you recently reviewed the article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Delhi Public School Noida. you said that the school is not notable enough. I would like to inform that there already are articles for the same chain of schools like Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram and Delhi Public School, Mathura Road. This information may not be notable to the world, but where I live, it is the most prestigious institution for elementary education. The page may seem incomplete, but I can assure you, that if a page this small is created, it will provide a base for more information on the topic. And after a year or so, you will definitely have a reasonably big article. And by the way, I live in an extremely well developed Urban Area right next to the capital of India.

Sure. I'd be happy to help. Looking at your article, it seems that your subject is not covered heavily in multiple independent sources as prescribed here WP:BIO and here [[1]]. A made a google search of your subject and most sources found were published by the subject. An article may not be based primarily on such sources as prescribed here [[2]]. If you can find more sources that report on the subject in depth and not briefly mention the subject, then you can make a much stronger argument for the subject's notability. Hello. The sources you added seem to all be either from Wikipedia(which is not accepted as a reliable source as outlined here WP:WPNOTRS) or a self-published source. An article can't rely on self-published sources as outlined here Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons#Using_the_subject_as_a_self-published_source. To stop your article from being deleted, reliable third party sources that report in depth on the subject need to be introduced. Peter Taliangis Page

Ramaksoud2000 - regarding my article titled Peter Taliangis, I apologise as I had just copy and pasted from the Real Estate website for a description that I was to go back and edit later. I was writing an article that was not supposed to be (or read) like self promotion and as I am still learning the Wikipedia platform I had not yet worked out how to reference. I would like to post an article just stating who I am as a person not for promotional reason but for informative as I am a LinkedIn coach and am trying to establish and show people how to use a number of social media tools in terms of marketing and networking within an online community. It is a good tool to have along with Facebook and Twitter.

Re the listing for wlnt-lp

My name is Richard Lynn, general manager of WLNT radio. I recently removed articles from the wiki page for WLNT. This was erroneously marked as vandalism. The estates of two deceased persons mentioned in the articles, along with our board of directors have asked me to remove all information regarding WLNT. Also, we do not wish to have WLNT listed as a low power station, while we do carry the legacy -LP designator we operate with a TPO of127 watts; by definition, any station operating with more than 100 watts is a full power class d station and not a low power fm station. Hello. Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not censor our encyclopedia. Unless the content violates one of our Wikipedia:List_of_policies_and_guidelines or is not verifiable, it generally won't be removed. Can you please tell me more about why you want so much information to be removed and I can see if I can remove some of it if it is in violation of one of our guidelines and policies. Also, I can designate your station as a full power station if you can give me a source that shows that it is. Greetings Ramaksoud2000, The following comment is in response to the information you extracted regarding WBFZ:

The information that you left on wikipedia is false and negative about a radio station which serves an expansive community. How you arbitrarily made the decision to delete updated information about the current status of WBFZ and allow something which is neither educational nor constructive to be left on wikipedia pages makes me question your motive. Can you please explain your decision to take off updated and accurate information which exposes the inaccuracy of a statement posed on wikipedia that is lebelous to WBFZ as a business entity which serves are large community? In fact, my question to you is why you did not delete an item that has no expressed purpose except to be destructive to WBFZ. It is unconscionable to allow information to stay on Wikipedia falsely about WBFZ when it is still operating and it is still owned by Imani Communications. So in your estimation you seem to think that it is positive to falsify the existing status of a station on Wikipedia by not updating records to reflect current status? Your action makes it appear like you are a collaborative part of sharing mis-information regarding WBFZ or you are unwittingly creating a cause of action of libel for the entity of WBFZ as exposed via wikipedia. In either case, your decision to remove the update was not founded upon sound reasoning. The problem is not with the addition to correct the falsification, the problem is with the inaccurate posting and motivation for same by the original poster in the first place. Given your response, it appears that you may not be aware that you are perpetuating a negative problem which has fiscal impact on a 50,000 watt radio station that broadcasts worldwide though Ipads, ipods, cell phones, computers etc. I encourage you to rethink your position on what constitutes negative. Furthermore, what qualification justifies your unilateral and arbitrary decision to delete this action. Miscellanies Article

Hi Ramaksoud2000,

I understand your concern at the existence of a previous article on the Anthology, in considering my article on Miscellanies. I was already aware of the Anthology article, and do refer to anthologies in my Miscellany article, in order to better explain the difference between them; but it is probably the case that I should state this difference in the article lead. Indeed, you are right that the basic definition of anthologies and miscellanies is very similar and might be confused. To avoid this I have briefly explained the historical and aesthetic differences between anthologies and miscellanies in the article lead, and of course backed this up with secondary sources. I have included an internal section link (Succession of anthologies) to later in the article where I further discuss recent criticism arguing for the distinction between anthologies and miscellanies. I also direct attention to the section "Significance and recognition", where I quote Michael Suarez:

The miscellany, then, typically celebrates – and indeed constructs – taste, novelty and contemporaneity in assembling a synchronous body of material. It should be distinguished from the anthology, which honours – and perpetuates – the value of historicity and the perdurance of established canons of artistic discrimination in gathering texts recognized for their aesthetic legitimacy.

Not only are miscellanies considered different from anthologies, but there is a growing body of literary criticism attending to their importance. The study of eighteenth-century miscellanies is at a real turning-point, particularly with the anticipated launch of a free online database (The Digital Miscellanies Index) later this year. I think a separate miscellanies article is justified in terms of notability and distinctiveness of the subject, and it will be very useful to anyone wanting to know more about the unappreciated but phenomenal output of miscellanies in the eighteenth century (over 1000 were published in that century alone). I have tried to include a range of quite specific information about the growth and decline of miscellanies, and have repeatedly referred to how they were succeeded by anthologies. I have made changes to the article lead, therefore, to make it more clear why miscellanies are different from anthologies. I realise that this is crucial to the article now, and hope I have rectified the confusion. Can you let me know what you think and, also, since this is my first wikipedia article, how else I might improve my contributions?

Regarding 'vandalism' block

I noticed that an editor, with the user name ENRYCH, has been blocked from editing because he added the information to Graeme Garden's page that Graeme is a patron of ENRYCH. I checked out the ENRYCH website and discovered that Graeme Garden is, in actual fact, a patron of ENRYCH and has been patron since 2010.

Because of what I discovered, I have reverted back to user ENRYCH's comment about this, on Graeme Garden's page, and have added a reference regarding it. Figaro (talk) 12:21, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Response TO Ramaksoud200 regarding Conscious Leadership • I authored this, and have NO knowledge of previous submissions for this term. I am a professor at Pepperdine University, and I assure you that the source "Conscious Capitalism" is not self published...it's from Harvard Business Press, is a Wallstreet Journal Bestseller, in currently in the top 3 of three Amazon business book lists and in the top 1100 of ALL Amazon book sales. My effort was to clear up the misunderstandings of the difference of CSR, Conscious Capitalism, Conscious Businesses, and Conscious Leadership. I thought if it's good enough for Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, and yes, Pepperdine, and a term being used by media such as NY Times, Forbes, and NPR, others might be interested, too. Friendly question about revert of being reviewed banner on Majolica Building

Hi there, Just wondered why you took down my 'article being reviewed banner', which is a pretty standard thing that editors do when they want to review a page but need a bit of time to work through the material and check it. In your explanation you said that you set it to being reviewed over eight hours previously. I certainly didn't see the green banner there when I took this page on and certainly wouldn't have reverted your banner and placed my own there! I was rather looking forward to working on the page as I've previously reviewed a page by the architect who designed the building. I'd happily hand it over to you to review, nonetheless, but you don't appear to have a banner on it now, so do let me know if you plan to review it because, if not, I'd very much like to continue with the review as planned and place the under review banner back up there. edit made to Vilayat Inayat Khan article under students

I'm new to trying to edit Wikipedia, so I apologize for any mistakes I may have previously made. I previously have been listed for several years as one of the students under the listing for Vilayat Inayat Khan. In my initial edit today, I tried to add two self-published books, but I now understand self-published books are not to be listed. I deleted these, as well as deleting a link to a website describing work stemming from Pir Vilayat's teachings. I corrected the previously listed title of my published book to include the full title, as well as adding the publisher and date of publication. I hope that these are acceptable edits to the original listing. I meant to add a signature to my edit, but I wasn't sure how to do this (e.g., where to insert Drdonw 23:33, 9 May 2013 (UTC)). Hello - sorry, but I don't know how to respond directly on the sandbox page to your comments on my post about Carrie Spinney Grover, so I am writing them here. Would you be willing to suggest ideas as to how I could page this post conform to Wikipedia standards? I understand the issue is related to not being able to justify the importance of the person. My family has noted that: She wrote a book "Heritage of Songs" which has drawn interest from a large number of folk musicians over the past 60 years, and many of these songs have subsequently been recorded by them. A folk musician is currently writing a book about Mrs Grover's book (I wouldn't add this to the post until the book is published). She has recordings in the Library of Congress.

I thought that this would be a source of information for people who discover the book and/or her name credited in other recordings by more current musicians. My father and I are contacted occasionally by people who are interested in either recording some of the songs she passed on or by radio disk jockeys who ask permission to play the songs on the radio (most recent was a DJ who lived in Slovenia working for Radio Europe!).

Anyway, if that doesn't qualify I can accept it, I was just wondering if there was just a different approach I should be taking here.

Hi. I'd love to help. The standards for notability are detailed at WP:GNG and WP:BIO. Currently the only source I can find online(but it doesn't have to be an online source) is the library of congress notice. I personally feel that this does not meet the criteria because it doesn't report on the subject, merely collecting the subject's work, and classifies as a primary source. Others may disagree. What I do not understand is why I am being called disruptive when it was not me but another user (Vswitchs) who recently inserted the paragraph in question into the article. After I removed some of his changes, he did not attempt to readd them, so there was no dispute there. Also if everybody has an equal right to edit articles, why my additions are getting deleted? For example, I added a remark that the AIA owns the standard (not just maintains it), but it was immediatelly removed by NorthBySouth. Finally, before contacting the Designated Agent, should I not try to resolve the dispute on the talk page? I do have some suggestion on how to handle this without removing the references to the products in question, but NorthBySouth does not seem to be interested in any discussion. I am not a copyright holder, but an AIA member, and every year I have to pay AIA a substantial licensing fee for using their standard in my products. The creators of the software in question refuse to do it. They are located outside of the US, and AIA does not have legal resources to go after them (other than giving them multiple warnings). The fact that they are now using Wikipedia as a free advertisement space makes this situation grossly unfair.

I once tried to publish a link to one of our product on another Wikipedia page, but it was removed as being non-compliant with the “non-advertising” policy of Wikipedia. So my question is: why should not the same policy be applied to these products, especially considering the controversy that surrounds them? There are dozens of legitimate GigE Vision based hardware and software products (some of which are free), but none of them are mentioned in this article. It is a technical article and it should not be used to advertise anybody’s products or services. Do you think this argument (rather than a legal one) can be used to remove that paragraph?

If not, how about the following option. We keep the paragraph in question in the article, but add a sentence stating that AIA treats those products as violating AIA’s trademark and intellectual property and advices companies and institutions not to use them. Notice that such a statement will not label these products as illegal – it will only indicate the position of the AIA towards them. If needed, I can obtain a statement from the AIA confirming this. Hi. First off, please read our conflict of interest policy. Second, could you please link to the edit you made inserting your product? Third, I have thoroughly reviewed this, and while these products are illegal, they do not fall under WP:LINKVIO. See the applicable court case at Bowers v. Baystate Technologies and the court decision text here. They are not illegal under copyright law as evidenced at Reverse-engineering#United_States. However, they are illegal because they violate the contract entered with AIA. WP:LINKVIO deals purely with copyright. Also, it would not be illegal for a user to use those products, it would only be illegal for the owner of those products to distribute and reverse-engineer them, apart from copyright. Thank you for looking into this. I read the conflict-of-interest policy. Among other things it says: "Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a vanity press, or forum for advertising or self-promotion". This is why I think no products should be advertised in a purely technical article. Two of those three projects are not even real. Just follow the links and you will see that the first one is nothing but an empty page, and the second one is an unfinished attempt to create a product. Whoever inserted this paragraph, referenced two other products as a distraction. The real goal was to promote the third one.

I do not think that the case you cited applies here. This is not about copying ideas, but about using specific standard, certain numerical values, decoding algorithms etc. A proper analogy would be designing an illegal satellite decoder for receiving a commercial programming. Building the decoder (= software product) can be legal, but decoding an encrypted commercial signal (= video from GigE Vision cameras) is not legal. As for the reverse-engineering, keep in mind that this is just an excuse used by the creator to deflect the AIA’s claims. The standard is available for free, and nobody needs to use reverse-engineering for creating a compliant product. All the AIA requires is payment of the licensing fee once the product goes to distribution. It may be legal for a user to use illegal products internally, but if the user starts distributing their own product (built by using illegal components), their product will become illegal too as it will be not covered by the AIA license.

In any case, if you agree that these products are illegal or at least carry some legal controversies, why should they be the ones advertised in this technical article? If we go this road, then we might as well include dozens of legitimate software products plus even more hardware products. Hi. Are you satisfied with BentlyCoon’s reasoning? I thought we would try to come to a consensus, but I do not think he is interested in any discussion. It appears that he wants to keep the references to those products solely based on their controversial legal status which is the only thing that distinguishes them (or rather one of them, as 2 out of 3 are not real) from other GigE Vision products. I think I gave a compelling argument why neither these nor any other products should be advertised in such an article. And here is more. Take a look at the following articles dedicated to other video standards: Camera Link, CoaXPress, ONVIF, Serial digital interface. None of them include references to specific software products. Should not this alone be enough reason for removing that insertion?

If you look at the history, there was an attempt to make this insertion on Nov 26, 2012 by EmmanuelP. The name of the owner of the Aravis software is Emmanuel Pacaud. At that time his insertion was removed (not by me), and nobody objected. In April somebody put it back, and you know the rest of the story. Can you at least delete the reference to a publication about the Aravis software (reference #7)? It describes how a particular customer decided to use that specific software as opposed to other software products. Is there any path for me to appeal? I was told I was supposed to look for consensus, but none of my suggestions were accepted. These products do not compete with ours at all. However, as an engineer who participated in the development of the GigE Vision standard, I find the reference to this publication absolutely unnecessary and out of context. It was not even inserted by the user who put this paragraph there. It was inserted later on by NorthSouthBridge during the "edit war". And he was also the one who removed the sentence about the GigE Vision being a registered trademark of the AIA, which was always part of this article. iPhone is a product. The only way you can violate its trademark is by trying to create a counterfeit product with the same name. AIA on the other hand owns a trademark on a standard. You cannot buy a standard as a final product. You are buying a license that gives you the right to use the standard and associated trademark in your own products. This is not a typical scenario and it is worth mentioning in the article. When I argued with NorthBySouth, I pointed him to the trademark ownership. He then deleted this sentence from the article. What kind of counter-argument is this? The only thing that they have registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office is the word's "GigE vision" and logo. You can searh the records yourself at their website. I have also searched and not found any entries at The Copyright Office. You misunderstood me. The AIA is based in the US. It is the creators of the product in question who are based internationally, and this is why it is difficult for the AIA as a non-profit organization to go after them. The AIA is the sole party to the contract other than the distributors and are the only ones with the authority to go after the free software. The individual people who created it is irrelevant. Oh ok. Thanks. I can see how someone could reasonably think that. However, while the trademark status may be ambiguous, and we have already established above that the products themselves are illegal. Thanks, this makes sense. Does the trademark infringement fall under WP:LINKVIO jurisdiction or is it different from the copyright violation (which as you explained is not the case here)? WP:LINKVIO deals only with copyright and not any other legal aspects. For example, Wikipedia links to Silk Road (marketplace), even though the business is illegal, and Wikipedia links to The Pirate Bay, even though the Pirate Bay knowingly violates copyright (but Wikipedia doesn't link to any specific copyrighted works). Also, for an example about trademark. Marvel Comics registered the trademark "Superhero" back in the 60s, but Wikipedia has many articles and links that likely violate this trademark.
