Sources edit

You provided the source as Census of India, District Census Handbook, South Kanara District, p. 192. This was written by me. This is related to the 1961 Census, not 1991 Census. Since this is an extremely contentious claim likely to lead to edit wars, you will have to provide the source online. We should all be able to see it. Regarding the 1961 census, you can check South Kanara District Gazetteer, Page 95 online.

Regarding C21K, I remember myself fighting with him. That was because he was removing Tulu from the Lead on Mangalore related pages just under the pretext of Kannada being the adminsitrative language of the district and Kannada being the official language of the state. This was totally unacceptable and I was very much successful in prioritizing languages on the number on native speakers - Tulu, Kannada, Konkani, Beary. Wikipedia policies do not mention only administrative languages need to given priority. Cities and Districts anyway do not have official languages. The Native speaker order is the only order which we must follow.

Regarding this page, can you tell me where did C21K vandalize the page. I can't find it. Please provide me the URL of the revision. If it is indeed, I can take that to the WP:ANI then. Perhaps, I can even have a Wikipedia:CheckUser done on 59.92.148.0 and the registered users on the page. The IP is from Bangalore.

Sorry, I cannot lock the article as I am not an administrator. Anyway, administrators won't lock it for such silly reasons. I don't have much time to edit articles. So, All the best !!! In between, I myself am an Mangalorean Roman Catholic from Tulu Nadu :) KensplanetTC 09:19, 9 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Copyright block edit

You have been blocked from editing indefinitely in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating copyright policy by copying images onto Wikipedia from other sources without verifying permission and with explicit, false assertions that they are your own. If you wish to continue contributing, please take this opportunity to be sure you understand Wikipedia's copyright policy and its policies regarding non-free content. Given that you explicitly claimed to have taken photographs yourself that were published elsewhere on the internet (see [1]), I believe that this account should not be unblocked without good reason to believe that you will follow copyright policy henceforth or without some other safeguard to protect the project, such as a prohibition against adding images. If you believe this block is unjustified or if you believe that you can resume constructive contribution, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Another administrator will respond to your unblock request. In response to your questions, file:adishakti.jpg was deleted as a derivative work of [2]. File:Tigliari.PNG was deleted as a derivative work of [3] (it looks as though strips were cut and pasted into a whole). You have been advised in the past, here, when previously blocked for copyright infringement that you cannot duplicate material from websites or other sources without verifying permission. In that notice, you were told that you needed to understand and comply with the copyright policy. That policy explains even more explicitly that you must verify permission and how. Your claim to have actually taken the photographs for File:Devishetty.jpg and File:Ashishballalathishone.jpg is difficult to understand, given their previous publication at [4] and [5]. This does not seem like you thought such images had no copyright. Do you still assert that you were the photographer of those images, that the first was "an image of dr devi prasad shetty shot by me during a ceremony at the bunt sangha meeting in Bangalore" and the second " an image taken from a mobile phone camera by me near his home at bangalore.this image is completely owned by me and is free to use"? --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:38, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Another contributor has just pointed out to me that, well after you received the notice I've linked above, you also pasted text from other websites. For example, this series from July of 2009 introduced text that was published several years ago at [6], with a notice reading "No part of this Internet site may be reproduced without prior written permission of the copyright holder." You should have been well aware that this text could not be used on Wikipedia without verification of such permission. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:46, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, I think we are being too. harsh on PrinceofDark. He is new to Wikipedia. People do have trouble initially. I have seen some excellent encyclopedic contributions from him. He has been an excellent editor. I suggest giving one more chance, with all due respect to all Wikipolicies. KensplanetTC 17:25, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
This particular policy exists to protect Wikipedia from legal jeopardy; it is not one to be lightly pushed aside. If we allow a contributor to continue working on Wikipedia in full knowledge that he has violated United States copyright law repeatedly on Wikipedia, we may well share some of the blame if he resumes. For this reason, I believe it's very prudent to be cautious before unblocking. This is this contributor's second block for copyright infringement. His unblock request is difficult to take on face value, when he indicates that "most of the images i uploaded were by unknown authors so i thought they were not copyrighted" but his upload summaries suggest that rather he may have misstated the origins intentionally to prevent the copyright infringement being detected. An unblock request that claims that infringement was done innocently is hard to interpret as honest intention to reform when behavioral evidence suggests he might have known that the material could not be placed here. Perhaps there is a good explanation for this; certainly, the contributor's answer would be welcome. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:49, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

To Moonriddengirl,I request you to again consider my unblock request.i assure you i wouldn/t make any copyright violations.

File copyright problem with File:Gaggara.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Gaggara.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 21:42, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Kawdoortuluva.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Kawdoortuluva.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions. If you have a question, place a {{helpme}} template, along with your question, beneath this message.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
