Nice comment. - Mtmelendez (Talk) 20:26, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I know how it feels. But there's so many topics to choose from, yet so little when considering that many users on this site are very picky about content. Just write articles that interest you. If they already exist, edit and improve them. You could also write about a sub-topic of one of your interests. Or, you can start here: Wikipedia:Most wanted articles or Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles. Hope that helps. - Mtmelendez (Talk) 20:45, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sure. Just do me one favor: don't get discouraged. Writing an article in Wikipedia can sometimes be like swimming against the current in high tide. You might get users who disagree with you and you might get your article posted at WP:AFD and even deleted. We've all been there. Many users have left Wikipedia because of this, but others (like me) have remained. You just have to keep going.
If you have the time, read through these pages, they'll help alot:
1. Wikipedia:About
2. Wikipedia:Why Wikipedia is so great
3. Wikipedia:Avoiding common mistakes (to avoid getting your work deleted)
4. Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not (why many articles get deleted)
Happy editing! - Mtmelendez (Talk) 21:05, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Choodle edit

I put a "speedy-delete: nonsense" tag on "Choodle", but I have taken it off again, as I see you are a new Wikipedian, to give you time to improve the article. A useful piece of advice, though, is to get an article fairly well developed before you put it in, otherwise there is a danger that it will be "speedily deleted". You can always write it in Notepad or some word-processor, and cut-and-paste to try it out in the sandbox, before you put it into Wikipedia for real; and you can use "show preview" to make sure it's right, before you click "save page". Unfortunately a lot of people put silly or nonsense articles in, and incoming articles get looked at to weed out the silly ones; so if you put your article in half-finished there is a danger that it will get deleted quickly. Good luck. JohnCD 23:14, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

As you can see, JohnCD is allowing you some time to construct the article. I suggest you find reliable sources on the internet ASAP and include it in the article. Add more info as to the origin of the breed, the current estimated number, the characteristics, etc. If you find sources, tell me and I'll format them and include them. The information you posted now is fine to include in Wiktionary, but if you include more info maybe we can have an article in Wiktionary AND in Wikipedia. Like I said, don't feel discouraged. - Mtmelendez (Talk) 01:04, 14 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

What are your interests? Where do you live? What do you work in? What music do you like? There's bound to be something you can write about that you know and like. And even then, there are many articles that need work. - Mtmelendez (Talk) 01:41, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

So you like rap? What artists do you like? Try and find a artist who doesn't have an article and write about them. Also, you can improve existing articles! Find one you think is poor and elevate it. - Mtmelendez (Talk) 21:42, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, you may not write about something you made up. - Mtmelendez (Talk) 21:53, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Userpage edit

A Userpage is a page provided to each user to help him or her with their work. You can edit and include all sorts of information, but it does not belong to you. You may:

  • Use it to make draft articles to edit and improve them, to then post them in the article-space.
  • Use it to include info about yourself so that others know who you are, where you're from, interests (this helps in coordinating article drives or collaborations, where users who share the same interests work together to write or improve existing articles)
  • There are many other uses, see the relative page about userpages: Wikipedia:Userpages

But don't include too much personal information about yourself, don't use it as a political or personal statement page, don't include sensitive information about other users, and don't include articles that don't belong in Wikipedia (hoaxes, attack pages, advertisements for you or a company, etc.).

If you want to try something fun, go to Wikipedia:Userboxes, to include nifty little boxes to describe just enough, but not too much about yourself in a funny way. So you like dogs, right? How about including these in your userpage? The entire gallery of userboxes of animals can be found here: All other galleries are at: Wikipedia:Userboxes#Gallery Hope it helps! - Mtmelendez (Talk) 17:48, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

This user firmly believes that this is a better world because of the presence of dogs.
This user is owned by one or more dogs.
 This user loves Poodles.

Response edit

Sort of. You still can't include anything that is against Wikipedia policy, but the rules are somewhat relaxed. However, going too far will have your userpage end up in Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion. - Mtmelendez (Talk) 23:53, 19 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

jeje... Alright, take it easy. Go to Wikipedia:Upload and click on the appropriate link. If you took the picture, you should click on It is entirely my own work. If you found it on the internet, odds are it is copyrighted, and you should click anyone of the options given, such as a DVD cover, a CD cover, a book cover, a promotional photo, an ad, a news image, etc.

If you upload an image which you did not create, you must make sure that you meet the Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, by including all the required information in the image page. If it doesn't, it may be deleted. It sounds a bit complicated, but it's not, really. I hope it helps. - Mtmelendez (Talk) 09:57, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Kitty-kow heart.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Survey edit

Hi Pomergirl!

I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!

It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!

Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!

Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! Proposed deletion of File:Question dog.JPG edit

The file File:Question dog.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused image with no clear use on the Wiki

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
