It's a chance to get more views in one day than one would otherwise in a year, not to mention a peer review of the article. More scrutiny generally equals a better article even if sometimes the scrutiny is uncomfortable.

Jasmine and Melissa Hemsley

Hello Philafrenzy. Was studying Ayurveda and Jasmine Hemsley's works when I came across your Wiki article on the sisters, and started to wonder if perhaps Jasmine might now deserve a self-standing page of her own? I began working on some words for it but am not an experienced Wiki editor so I looked you up and realised what a staggering number of pages you'd created. What a mesmerising and diverse range! May I ask your opinion then as to whether you think Jasmine would qualify for her own page or not? (I'd be happy to submit my draft to you if that's of any interest?). :-)

I know someone has been trying to create one, you or someone you work with (a PR company?) (MangoMalcolm?) since they announced they were starting solo careers, but I don't think she qualifies for a solo article until she has established an unambiguously separate presence in the public mind and the sources. It would just cause needless duplication at this point. Anything new can be added to the existing article for the time being.

@Whispyhistory: Here's some more unsolicited advice of the type I told you to ignore:

• The first letter of article titles is always capitalised by the system but that doesn't apply in articles unless it's a proper name, e.g. John Smith was a general practitioner.
• There's no need to say "was documented" in prose, just say "was". It's documented in your refs.
• Don't hesitate to link names such as Thomas Buzzard, associations, awards, books or hospitals etc. Red-links aren't flaws, they are invitations to create new articles. Rook's Textbook of Dermatology is certainly notable for instance. They can be started with a stub if you wish. Philafrenzy (talk) 10:08, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

Category:Physicians by hospital. It is lightly populated. You can create more by adding "Physicians of xxx hospital" as a category to articles and then clicking on the red link to create the category. Then just find the relevant biographies and add them to the category. Some of the hospital articles (where we have them) list notable staff but many don't. There is also a parallel Category:Physicians by medical school. You can see the top of the whole tree by finding Category: Physicians. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:46, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

• image copyright looks ok. Not sure about size.

Am I doing this right and what else do I do? The article appears to be written by a very experienced wiki writer so I'm sure its good to go and I found it very interesting Whispyhistory (talk) 19:08, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

The detailed instructions are here. My summary would be to check:

• Does the length meet the criteria set out on that page?
• If new was it nominated in time? If expanded is the expansion sufficient?
• Is it neutral?
• Is it well referenced throughout and the hook fact confirmed with an inline ref?
• Is any picture on Commons?
• Does Earwig or your manual check find any plagiarism or close paraphrasing?
• Is the hook correctly formatted and within the required length?
• Is the hook interesting?

On that specific one, I wouldn't worry about the image. It's unlikely to be used as it won't be very good in thumbnail. I will comment further on the page. I don't understand your comment that the GPQ is 293. Be clear there are two character counts - the hook has to be short enough and the article/expansion long enough. Thx, I don't understand GPQ. If I enter the user- 293 DYK reviews are listed. I copied the hook into character count- was less than 200. The article went from ~1000 bytes to more than 6000 appx. few days ago, excluding contents.reference list. The image is in wikicommons. Plagiarism is the quotes. It's QPQ (quid-pro-quo) and simply means that the nominator has reviewed something else in turn (unless they are new when they get 5 free goes). So all you have to do is check that they have in fact reviewed the article they say they have reviewed in the nomination. Once you are satisfied with everything, add the appropriate symbol from the detailed instructions I linked above. This one, however, might need alternative hooks. Looks OK but you appear to have forgotten to be pithy with the hooks which are both far too long. Alt1 is eye-watering and I have suggested a dull Alt. Nothing stronger as far as I can see. Article looks OK, though the section on the founding is a bit convuluted and could flow more clearly. Quotes are not in italics unless called for by the material such as book names as part of the quote. Long quotes use a blockquote tag which you can see in use now in the article. More here: MOS:QUOTE. The first letter of job titles and similar isn't usually capitalised, e.g. fellow not Fellow, director not Director etc. Please go through and check. DYK Reviewing

hi...few questions now and more at meet up. I'm reviewing HMS Mantua, new on 9 Jan. Couldn't see any other dyk that interested me. It looks short. I copied readable prose, no infobox/references/headings into character count - character count <1500. Is there an easier way to do this, eg like entering the article name into a tool? There's this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Shubinator/DYKcheck but I don't use it as it looks too complicated for something so simple. I just copy and paste the body text into Word. It's generally obvious if they are too short. BTW Mantua is slightly too short by my count (around 50 characters), and it looks it even without checking. Re Lee - looks sound but you forgot to add any categories. Enable HotCat by going to Preferences/Gadgets if you have not already. I generally always start the talk page too by adding one project - bio or medical work here. Your lead in a longer article like this (above a stub) should stick to who he is and why he matters. Help a professional historian

If you are sure it is the wrong hospital it is better to remove the picture and leave an edit summary of "different hospital" or something like that. Then just make a note of the place where the picture can be found when needed. Philafrenzy (talk) 14:31, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
