Featured article for December 25th edit

I noticed that you have listed yourself as an atheist Wikipedian. You will probably be interested to know that Brian0918 has nominated Omnipotence paradox as the front page article for December 25th. You can vote on this matter here. The other suggestion being supported by others for that date is Christmas, although Raul654 has historically been against featuring articles on the same day as their anniversary/holiday. Environmental Management edit

You said:

I am willing to contribute to this project, particularly in the fields of environmental management systems, environmental auditing and environmental impact assessment. Parmesan 20:27, 2 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

And I said:

That's great. Place your name on the list of participants on the project page at Wikipedia:WikiProject Environment. Cheers. Alan Liefting 01:10, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Musical toes edit

Hi, I noticed that some time back you added a reference to Liam Gallagher on List of polydactyl people - could you point me to a source on this? I'm having trouble referencing it. Cheers, Ziggurat 01:52, 7 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! It seems that someone has removed the reference from the list for being unsourced - maybe you should consider re-adding it with that link or another. Regards, Ziggurat 21:31, 13 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks - my colleagues think I was generous in giving a B ... their main issue was refs ... so anything you can do to improve the number would be useful. Anyway well done. Victuallers 22:50, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

when warning vandals edit

Please don't leave messages saying "you've been reported now." They're counterproductive, as we don't always block on every report, and if someone gets the message "you've been reported" and then they don't get blocked, that's worse than if they didn't get blocked but didn't get that message. I know you've probably seen others leaving these kinds of messages, though. This isn't an indictment of your judgment, we're just trying to get everyone to stop leaving these post-AIV-report messages. coelacan — 22:15, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Fair enough. I've been doing a lot of anti-vandal stuff of late, so tanks for the tip.Parmesan 22:22, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

digital signature edit

I am Jack, you undid what i wrote about email signature. I was wondering whether you have ever used digital signature. Do you know what it is? I am not trying to offend you. I am just wondering. If you are willing to do so, please respond to my email box jackzhp@hotmail.com! thanks. Jackzhp 07:50, 22 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

As identified in my edit summary, your contribution was written as a contestable point of view. Additionally, it was unreferenced and the grammar was poor.Parmesan 00:27, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok. got it. anyway, please just talk about the digital signature, and clarify the difference between "digital signature" and the commonly known "signature". Talking about email without talking about the digital signature is incomplete. Jackzhp 03:31, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bratislava edit

Dear Parmesan, I saw you did a cleanup revert on Kamzík TV Tower today, and wondered if you might be interested in taking a look at the Bratislava article, which I and a few others are trying to trundle toward FA status. It'd be good to have some more disinterested perspectives, if you've got the time. Cheers, — Mike Gogulski ↗C@T 23:10, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mike,
I only spent a week or so in Bratislava - my (then) girlfriend (now fiancée) worked there for the best part of two years - so I would not have all that much to contribute. Still, I'll have a look at the page, and ask her if she has anything to add to it. Cheers, Parmesan 09:42, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to Environmental Record Task Force edit

Hi Parmesan,
Several editors have organized a new task force to make sure the encyclopedia accurately represents the environmental impact of corporations and policymakers. To judge by your userpage (particularly your work with The ENDS Report), you'd be a phenomenal asset to our collaboration. Please come by and have a look!
Thanks,

Another invitation from cyrusc edit

It's been great having you on board at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Environment/Environmental record task force. I'm working on a new task force which may not land as squarely in your areas of interest, but who knows. We'd certainly appreciate your help there as well.

Best,

You are being recruited by the Money and Politics Task Force, a collaborative project committed to ensuring that links between government officials and private-sector resources are accurately displayed in relevant entries. Join us!

Hi Cyrusc. Sorry for not replying for so long. I'm afraid that I think I'll have to decline your request - I think I will concentrate on the ERTF and some of my own pet projects (such as Wilson's School, as I have quite a backlog of stuff to deal with. Nevertheless, if I do come across anything of note, I will remember to add it to the appropriate article. Ta, Parmesan 12:35, 10 July 2007 (UTC).Reply

Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London edit

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please Investigate Problems on BP (British Petroleum) Wikipedia Page: Intentionally Burying Section on Gulf of Mexico Oil Disaster, Changing Name of Oil Disaster to Hide it edit

Any attempts to correct this (following reasonable Wikipedia guidelines) are met with aggressive reverts and edits. Intentional spinning and manipulation of article in favor of BP? Can this task force investigate this?

Currently there is no easily recognizable section on the current Gulf of Mexico Oil Disaster, surprisingly since the US Government has held BP responsible. Instead the "Oil Disaster" Section in the article keeps being given obscure (hard to recognize) names (as if someone is trying to hide the section from the public).

That section also keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the article (attempts to bury it)?

It's as if the BP Public Relations department has staff people who are aggressively spinning the article. Could you investigate this?

London Wikimedia Fundraiser edit

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 23:38, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
