Miscellaneous Ref Desk

My campaign

User:Pablothepenguin/Campaign

A simple question

Are you actually trying to get yourself blocked? AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:58, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

No, but I am very passionate. Pablothepenguin (talk) 23:59, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

MfD nomination of User:Pablothepenguin/Campaign

User:Pablothepenguin/Campaign, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Pablothepenguin/Campaign and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Pablothepenguin/Campaign during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. AndyTheGrump (talk) 00:11, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Got what you wanted

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Daniel Case (talk) 06:33, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Unblock

This was "not" what I wanted.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Pablothepenguin (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I believe that the unencyclopedic editing was a bad thing. I am sorry for, but I am sure I can stop doing it. I think that an indefinite block was a little harsh for a first ever block. At the very least, I would anticipate being unblocked in 2 - 3 weeks. I promise to be good then. I'm sure that I have also done many anti-vandalism and mainspace edits over my 6 month existence. Pablothepenguin (talk) 08:56, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Decline reason:

A scan through your edit history makes it clear that you are WP:NOTHERE to build an encyclopedia. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:06, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

If this block is to be retained, could we at least agree on determining a date in which I can return to wikipedia. I don't think an indefinite expiry would be best. Pablothepenguin (talk) 17:47, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
If and when you are unblocked, what would you like to try to accomplish on Wikipedia? Newyorkbrad (talk) 17:54, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
I would like to join the Counter Vandalism Unit Academy and I would like to do maintenance to Wikipedia articles. Pablothepenguin (talk) 17:57, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
I also wish to gain extra permissions, like rollback. Maybe, eventually I could end up being an admin. Pablothepenguin (talk) 23:03, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
  • The user's first edit as a registered user was to support himself in the third person for his edit as an IP user. His last edit besides here was to violate a hatting in support of the same issue of his first ever edit, a campaign of vengeance against American fast food franchises. If anything, a checkuser investigation and a talk=page block is what's called for, not an adminship. μηδείς (talk) 23:59, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
To Medeis's comment, I believe that I have ended the main issue. I appreciate the necessity of a block, but are you sure it could not be changed from indefinite to an exact date. I wish to return to Wikipedia eventually. Pablothepenguin (talk) 10:16, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Would you care to explain why Wikipedia would ever be interested in a contributor who exhibits this [1] sort of behaviour? AndyTheGrump (talk) 17:03, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Andy, that edit took place in June of this year, when I was just in the process of leaving school. I have now finished that and stress has returned to normal. Once again, I would like to mention that I did successfully counter some vandalism attempts. I also remind you that I am looking to join the Counter Vandalism Unit Academy to help remove more vandalism. When I hit 400-500 main space, my next move will be to reapply for rollback. When I get to 5000 contributions, I will file my first admin request. I am actually not as bad a person as my recent edits may suggest. Those were caused by various things, one of which was a video counting down restaurants. Please look to have the block changed from indefinite to an exact date. Pablothepenguin (talk) 17:49, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Indefinate just means that you will be allowed back as and when the community are ready to accept you back. I would advise the Standard offer may be a good way forward here. Maybe go help out at the Simple English Wikipedia for a bit, (which is much more relaxed than on here), then show you can edit well collaboratively, then come back in a few months and request an unblock. --Mdann52talk to me! 18:21, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

Request reason:

It has now been over a month since my last unblock request and a similar amount of time since my last contribution. I feel that I have take. Enough time off of Wikipedia to be ble to return and not cause problems. I feel now that my plan for becoming a Wikipedia Admin, which was one of my very last contributions before this one, can still be construed as realistic. I would like to think that I can be trusted once again.

Decline reason:

At your previous unblock attempt, Wikipedia:Standard offer was suggested. Standard offer requires you to wait 6 months before making another request, preferably after proving yourself by editing at another Wikimedia project during that span. A month is too short of a span to unblock in relation to the type of edits that came from this account prior to the block. Read standard offer carefully and follow that if you hope to return to Wikipedia. only (talk) 23:17, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

One would have assumed that 6 months was a bit long. I currently have 5 to go. I will make a couple contributions at Simple English Wikipedia. Pablothepenguin (talk) 23:50, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
To stand a chance of unblocking, I'd recommend that you make enough contributions to show your attitude has changed significantly to be unblocked here. --Mdann52talk to me! 08:02, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
