March 2018 edit

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, Ľubomír Šatka, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Transfermarkt edit

Hi. :-) WP:FOOTY doesn't consider Transfermarkt a reliable source. I removed content you backed up with Transfermarkt references at László Bénes. Also, I'm curios why you removed this line "Eligible for both Hungarian and Slovak national football teams," (diff). It seems relevant to Bénes' career. Regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 16:38, 3 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your detailed response. That sorts it for me. Appreciated! Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 19:24, 4 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Lukáš Haraslín edit

Hey Otapka,

I've just noticed that you did a lot of work on the Lukáš Haraslín page. As someone who is a huge fan of Haraslín and Lechia Gdańsk I'd just not got round to editing his profile on wikipedia yet, so thank you, and keep doing what you're doing. :)

All the best,

Infobox timestamps edit

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Ľubomír Šatka were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Mattythewhite (talk) 22:54, 14 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

FK Pohronie players edit

Hi, it will be better continue discussion about FK Pohronie players here. FK Kosice is another case. They doesn´t declare history of MKF/VSS because of they debt. Example with FK Dukla Banská Bystrica is correct. FK Dukla Banská Bystrica dissolved in 2017, then owner of SK Kremnicka renamed his team to MFK Dukla Banská Bystrica (with simillar name, and logo). And the same happened in Ziar, FK dissolved in 2012, and owner of D.Zdana renamed his team to Pohronie. (OK another name and logo, but same story, same place, stadium etc...). (Svk fan) 21:10, 3 February 2020 (CET)

Keď tu, tak asi môžem aj slovensky. If you don't speak Slovak, let me know.

Preto nemusíme rozlišovať medzi starou a novou Duklou.

(Otapka) 23:37, 3 February 2020 (CET)

  • tiez som zo ZH, aka nahoda :)

No prave preto ze sa zlucili (ZH a DŽ) a nasledne povodne kluby zanikli, by to tam malo byt, kedze Pohronie sa hlasi k tradicii Ziarskeho futbalu (keby ten dosiahol nejake uspechy Pohronie by si ich urcite prisvojilo :D ). Dam dalsi priklad TTS Trencin (zanikol 1992) a uplne novy AS Trencin ktory vznikol 1992 a hlasi sa k tradicii TTS takisto pise notable players na svojej stranke.

Vsak prave o to ide, napisat do notable players vsetkych hracov, aj hracov ktori su odchovanci a hrali "len" za mladez, ked bude zoznam dlhy to nieje problem (O tom je wikipedia zhromazdit vsetky relevantne informacie). Pozri napr.

(Otapka) 12:07, 5 February 2020 (CET)

  • Neprisvojilo lebo nemalo co, ziadne uspechy tam neboli... Ano Maigne zatial nehral (aspon podla soccerway), takze by tam nemal byt.

Categories edit

Please, when you create new categories, it's really important that you add categories to them. If they're not placed in the category hierarchy then they might as well not exist, as neither humans nor maintenance bots will be able to find them. As it happens, for categories such as Category:U.S. Folgore Caratese A.S.D. players I've just created a new template that will do that automatically (and eg check to see that the club category name matches the corresponding article name), in this case you would add {{Clubplayerscat|Italy}}. Piping at Jan Kliment edit

Hi. :-) I reverted your piping of VfB Stuttgart at Jan Kliment. WP:KARLSRUHER states:

"In German football, it is not common practice to list clubs by just the town/city names, in the way that in England we refer to Liverpool or Blackpool. The club is always listed with a club name, e.g. Borussia Dortmund or Kickers Offenbach. If the team does not have an elaborate name like this, then the SC, FC, VfB (etc.) should be left in, i.e. VfB Stuttgart. This applies in all lists, infoboxes, league tables, statistics tables, fixtures, match details, and in a player's lead."

Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 12:42, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! Sorry for the trouble. I'll bear that in mind :) (Otapka) 23:37, 3 February 2020 (CET)

Eneji Moses edit

I have reverted your move as undiscussed and controversial. Please use WP:RM. I have also removed your inappropriate match commentary. Please do not forget that this is an encyclopaedia. GiantSnowman 14:55, 31 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, which bit of the match description would you consider inappropriate? I felt it was a rather factual description of his start in Senica - debut, first starting-XI appearance and subsequent injury. From my experience with Wikipedia it is not uncommon to highlight such milestone matches (debut, first goal etc). I understand why you may have reverted the move, although it was done in good faith, considering repetitive refernce to the player as Peter Eneji in media etc. User talk:Otapka 15:51, 31 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ladji Mallé moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Ladji Mallé, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the Eneji Moses article, and I couldn't find one either. If you have a reliable source please let me know and we can change the article. Please let me know if you have any questions. GiantSnowman 17:00, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I have been familiar with information concerning his POB from one source[1] and his transfer was already listed in the Football Association's registration system.[2] You are right I forgot to add these citations, but I believe they are sufficient. Please let me know if something doesn't add up. Otapka 17:05, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I have again reverted your bizarre formatting of the infobox. Please leave the infobox as it is. GiantSnowman 21:17, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sure. Personally, I wouldn't call it bizarre considering that it is a go-to formatting in the Slovak league and dozens of other cases but that's fine. Otapka 9:51, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Ways to improve Ahmed Fofana edit

Hello, Otapka,

Thank you for creating Ahmed Fofana.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article does not meet notability for sports. The existing references are considered database entries, and no longer satisfy NSPORT. New references needed, or the article may be removed. What is needed are references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide. You may also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion. Kindly do the needful. Thank you.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

This article - about a non-professional association football team - needs to meet general notability. What is needed are references significant coverage SIGCOV about this team, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide.
Statistics, team rosters, soccerway, Instagram, Facebook are not reliable sources. You need at least three reliable sources.
You should also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain.

all time records IIHF edit

Are you using the National teams of ice hockey page for these? I don't particularly care but you are likely going to get some who say that the website is not reliable and will want to remove the content. It does not appear to be something that the IIHF or the different federations keep track of, but finding an alternate source may be helpful.18abruce (talk) 12:11, 20 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I second that, this website is not reliable and don't rely too much on it, they have some missing older games, mistakes in all-time calculations, wrong all-time scorers, assists, total player points etc., I even found wrong match results from top tier matches like World Championship Division I.
