Copyright issues edit

Please be aware that copy and pasting material printed elsewhere, such as at http://www.4dbios.com/Index.html, is a copyright issue and cannot be retained in articles in this manner. In addition, it is not at all clear what sources this website used, or that the material contained therein is accurate, since it doesn't supply sourcing information. Finally, WP:ELNO has guidelines for the inclusion of external links, and this link does not appear to be acceptable per #2 and #13. I would encourage you to peruse the links in the template above regarding basic Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Thank you. Wildhartlivie (talk) 06:07, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edits edit

I didn't change the edits to the Black Dahlia article, that was done by someone else. The only changes I made to that page was to remove the image information you added because there was no image related to it. Additionally, even if the image had been uploaded, your caption of World Wide Photos would indicate it would have had a non-free content issue. You can access the history of each article by clicking the history link at the top of each page.

I explained the issues with the other edits above. In most cases, the material you added was complete copy and paste from the website, which is not according to copyright policy of Wikipedia. While you added a reference to a source (Current Biography), it is impossible to tell whether the material you added was copied directly from that source, since what you added was almost verbatim from the website. The website itself gives no sourcing information. It doesn't matter whether the website belongs to your or not, Wikipedia cannot accept copied material from a source. I originally removed the website links because it is a bit of a fringe theory website, and, as I explained above, the link violates WP:ELNO, specifically in regard to items #2 and #13 on that page. Because you've indicated that the website itself belongs to you, it also is an issue of conflict of interest in promoting your own website.

There is no malice or prejudice in these reversions, all of which are based on Wikipedia policy. I would urge you to assume good faith and realize that I approached you directly about these issues and attempted to explain the rationale for the removal. That is also why I encouraged you to peruse the links in the welcome message above. These issues are covered in those links. Wildhartlivie (talk) 03:03, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
