Just a thought, per WP:NOTNOW there is not much likelihood of this request being approved yet. The community has established a high bar for granting admin rights, and without a track record of successfully dealing with conflict and positively interacting with other users, there just is not enough information to establish that level of confidence. Fort table

The fort table you added to some article will be much more suited for a navigation box. As it stands now it is mostly unsourced and I think it will have to be removed. If you need help in creating a navbox let me know. --Muhandes (talk) 13:19, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

I considered the same thing, but because it doesn't make sense to sort Casco Bay Forts into additional categories and some of the forts do not have articles yet, the navigation box would be pretty weak. On each fort's page, I still think it is important to have a structured reference to the other forts in the bay, because they functioned together when they were in service. Even if the forts don't have articles, they have sections in articles. You can easily create redirects to those sections. I think a navigation box for these articles is the right way to do it. --Muhandes (talk) 14:57, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

There seems to be good research on the Forts of Casco Bay at an interesting Wikimedia site I have never seen before, http://fortwiki.com/Category:Harbor_Defense_of_Portland. I'd like to move at least some of that info over to a new page on Wikipedia - I don't know what the policy is for duplicating content across Wiki pages, but it seems like at least some of the info of the Fort wiki page is of interest to a general encyclopedia like the regular Wikipedia. Battle of Portland Harbor is also relevant info.Nickline4 (talk) 14:01, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

The main problem with using that information is that other wikis are not considered reliable sources, just like other articles in this Wikipedia aren't. If they include reliable sources it would be better to use the sources themselves. So even if the license allows duplication (and some wikis probably allow it) it would not be acceptable since it is not reliably sourced. --Muhandes (talk) 14:57, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

You said above "it is important to have a structured reference to the other forts in the bay", well, the navbox is there for reference, and as I said above, you are free to add more information to it (like year of construction). That photo is published in many sources and no one knows who created the content. That is the purpose of the 1923 rule - it's just too old to tell. If you want to delete the image, fine, but if you need some original creator sort of information, that photo is just never going to be published on Wikipedia. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. I'm trying to breathe a little new life into WP:WP ME and as such I have posted a few questions on the project's talk page that I would like to get some feedback from all of the project's members on! There are apparently a lot of inactive members on our participants list (and even a user that has been blocked for years). What do we as a project want to do about inactive or blocked users? I have some ideas on the issue, but would love feedback from others. Remove blocked users that appear to be no longer interested in participating in developing Wikipedia. Users with zero activity at all in three years are unlikely to come back. I suggest that we remove them from the mailing list and deactivate any categorizing feature of a userbox on their page. When doing this, we must make sure to leave a note on their talk page explaining that since they have been off-wiki for three years that they have been removed from the list as a purely technical measure and they are more than welcome to add themselves back to the list if they choose to start editing again. Users with zero activity on wiki for 18 months may come back, despite it being unlikely. I would suggest that we mark those users as inactive on our mailing list, and stop sending them messages like this one to prevent their user talk page from filling up with irrelevant notices. Users with zero activity on wiki for at least six months should be marked as inactive in the mailing list template, but should still receive mailings. I'm also trying to gauge some interest in there being a Great American Wikinic in Maine! If you are interested, possible locations might include Portland, Augusta, and or Bangor, please make a note in the appropriate section on our talk page! We should create a template to use for mass mailings from this wikiproject so all we need to do is enter our message and signature and the general format of the box and image and title and stuff will stay familiar. What is your opinion on this idea? Do you have any preferences to what that may look like (because I think this looks horrible compared to some I've seen from other projects)?
