So given your viewpoint on the term, TERF, how would I respond to the administrator Dreadstar's comment on the talk page saying that he will block anyone who uses it, regardless of the context? Moreover, despite a lot of sound and fury to the contrary, the use of this term arose because it is used in a well-sourced RS reference in a survey which provides valuable content for the Radical Feminism article. Well, if we have an article about the term, it would be hard to write the article without using the term. (We have articles about other slurs, as well as about changes in preferred usage for different groups among other things.) But I am not at all convinced the term is more than marginally notable or that it deserves more than fleeting attention in any context. (For the avoidance of doubt, this is my personal opinion and not in my arbitrator capacity. (In a few months I won't have to write that any more.)) Newyorkbrad (talk) 01:22, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Wikimedia DC invites revolutionaries, free thinkers, and other sundry editors to a DC WikiSalon

The WikiSalon is a special meetup usually held during the first and third full weeks of every month, from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's an informal gathering of Wikimedia enthusiasts, who come together to discuss Wikimedia wikis and collaboratively edit. There's no set agenda, and guests are welcome to recommend articles for the group to edit or edit on their own.

If you're coming by Metro, the closest station is Dupont Circle (on the Red Line). If you're driving, a lot of parking opens up downtown after 6:30 PM, so finding a parking space (even a free one) should be easy. Once you've found the building, go to Cove on the second floor. We will be in the conference room.

If you check the history, the off-topic and disruptive threads archived by SlimVirgin have now been restored by one of the involved parties, and an individual who was just panned in a blog piece at The Other Website has now joined the fray. Continuation of Austrian economics WP:BATTLEGROUND

Hi Newyorkbrad, I'm cross-posting this to your and Floquenbeam's talk pages as both of you were drafting arbitrators of Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Austrian economics. I am concerned that despite the ArbCom case, the dispute between at least two of the key participants has become personal as they continue to clash with one another in other topic spaces. In particular, it appears at least one editor is stalking the other editor's edits. I explain my concerns here.[1] I'm not sure how to proceed since the topic-space is unrelated to Austrian economics, but it's clear that the WP:BATTLEGROUND mentality continues to be a serious problem. I think an interaction ban is probably in order as this doesn't appear to be an isolated incident, but I'm not sure what the correct venue would be. Should I ask for an interaction ban as an Amendment to the ArbCom case? Or at WP:AE? Or at WP:ANI? Or is there some other course of action? I see that the dispute you're referencing is on the September 11 attacks article. I have avoided getting involved with that subject-matter on Wikipedia, beyond addressing some extreme BLP violations, for reasons you might glean from the fact that I live and work in Manhattan. If I were to start carefully reviewing the edits on that article and its talkpage, I would start not with Carolmooredc and Specifico, but by topic-banning each and every editor who tries to strew this article and its talkpage with all sorts of crazy bullshit. Just to close the circle on this, I hope... The content I reverted seemed to include undue promotion of statements about evidence redacted for national security reasons and about material tied to undocumented theories about the Saudis. It was perfectly appropriate to revert that recent addition and give reasons for having done so on talk. As a New Yorker whose office for many years was located at WTC, I too am sensitive to the attempts to hijack the article for the promotion of fringe or partisan theories. In the current matter, what was clearly inappropriate was for AQFK to launch into his personal opinions and accusations concerning (my) editor behavior on the article talk page. He seems to enjoy that role a bit too much, witness his rush to this page, dragging Brad into it as well. Maybe he will think twice next time and express himself in a more appropriate and constructive manner. SPECIFICO talk 02:44, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Just to be clear that my post above here was in regards to the obnoxious postings by established editors that are promoting conspiracy theories about 9/11...aka bullshit. But in regards to AQFK opening post here, it is obvious that you stalked Carol Moore to that page and this is apparently far from the first time you have followed her to a page. Just FYI, I have presented the history of SPECIFICO's wikihounding at this recent ANI and at someone else' Arbitration Request regarding the Wikipedia:WikiProject Countering systemic bias/Gender gap task force. Yet another topic that SPECIFICO followed me to and repeatedly harassed me at, as more than one person has noted in those threads. I was trying as much as possible to ignore him, and even some of his many reverts, until he started hassling me at the Gender gap task force. Ironically, one reason I'm so involved is to see if women can somehow help stop harassment and Wikihounding on Wikipedia!! It can set one quite off balance, sometimes in embarrassing ways. Mentorship?

Newyorkbrad, I'm putting this question to you because you have been at ArbCom longer than anyone. Are there any examples you can recall where ArbCom has mandated an involuntary mentorship that have resulted in a successful outcome? Florida Bankruptcy Law

New page patrolling and found this article, figured you would be a better judge. My gut says this is better covered by existing pages on the individual laws, and the inclusion of this article serves to just muddy the waters, provide what is bordering on advice or original research, and seems like it is just a bad idea in general, but I can't quite put my finger on the exact best solution. There are a few portions of this article that are unique to Florida, such as the homestead exemption, but for the most part bankruptcy law in Florida is the same as bankruptcy law elsewhere in the United States, rendering the idea of having 50+ similar pages a bit redundant. I'm not familiar enough with our bankruptcy coverage to opine either on what the best resolution would be.
