Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:26, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I am in the process of creating wikipedia pages for manufacturers and retailers across the scale model industry, as this struggling industry is not well represented across wikipedia currently, with countless major brands within the industry e.g Spark Models, Almost Real, Model Factory Hiro, Amalgam... and famous retailers including Diecast Legends, Mini model Shop, Wonderland Models... The aim is to increase the knowledge available to consumers of the hobby industry, as many consumers go to wikipedia for information - but currently there is a total lack of information about the hobby industry, it's retailers and manufacturers

This does not address your conflict of interest (WP:COI). Yamla (talk) 12:38, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I understand and respect the concerns regarding a potential conflict of interest in creating Wikipedia pages related to the scale model industry. My intention is genuinely rooted in the desire to provide comprehensive and unbiased information about an underrepresented industry. I am committed to adhering strictly to Wikipedia's guidelines for neutrality and verifiability in all contributions I make.
While I do have affiliations within the industry, I believe that with guidance and oversight, I can contribute valuable content that benefits the Wikipedia community and its readers. I am open to feedback, collaborative editing, and oversight by more experienced Wikipedia editors to ensure that the content remains impartial and factual. If there are specific steps or measures I should undertake to address and mitigate the perceived conflict, I am more than willing to follow them. As far as I am aware, I have not made any biased remarks in any of my posts. If there are any concerns or instances that suggest otherwise, I am open to feedback and will make necessary corrections to ensure neutrality and accuracy.
My goal is to enhance the knowledge base available on Wikipedia about the scale model industry, its key players, and its rich history. I assure you that my primary interest is in sharing knowledge and not for promotional purposes.
Kind regards

Hi Model-universe, based on your contributions to the now-deleted Model Universe article and your username, I'm assuming you're affiliated with the Model Universe online model shop, and perhaps one of your goals is to promote either that shop or the products sold there. Per WP:COI and WP:NOTPROMO, that would not be permitted on Wikipedia. I appreciate your desire to improve the coverage of scale models in general here on the project, but such coverage would have to adhere to the policies of verifiability, neutral point of view etc, something which is difficult for you if you're actively involved in that area. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 13:13, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Amakuru,
I completely understand the point about Model Universe. This is the only company I am affiliated to in the industry, as I am the owner. Could you please advise your position on if I were to not publish any articles about Model Universe. But instead create articles about manufacturers within the industry to whom I have no affiliation with. In addition to this - have my name changed to modelling-enthusiast-101 - and perhaps you could implement a restriction on my account which bans the use of the phrase 'Model Universe'.

I am committed to enriching Wikipedia's coverage of the scale model industry, its major contributors, and its extensive history. My intention is to contribute valuable knowledge, not to promote any business.

I acknowledge that creating an article about Model Universe, a company I own, was a misstep and not in line with Wikipedia’s guidelines on neutrality and conflict of interest. Going forward, I aim to focus solely on contributing well-researched, neutral articles about aspects of the scale model industry with which I have no direct affiliation.

I seek guidance on how to proceed with contributing constructively to Wikipedia without inadvertently promoting my own business interests. I would welcome a ban on my account for the use of the phrase 'Model Universe' if possible. Additionally, I welcome oversight on my future articles and would not object to restrictions placed on my account to prevent conflicts of interest, ensuring my edits adhere strictly to Wikipedia’s community standards.

I appreciate your guidance on this matter and await your advice on how best to contribute to the Wikipedia community.

Please note: I will NOT write about any competing retailers (because this could be seen as a conflict of interest), instead I will limit my work to just manufacturers and subjects e.g https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1:18_scale. As there is no conflict of interest here as my only affiliation is with a retailer 'Model Universe' who does not manufacturer anything but only resells products made by manufacturers.

I hope we can come to a solution.

Kind regards,

I would like to see you make some edits in areas unrelated to your conflict of interest before permitting you to edit in the area of it. At a minimum, you will need to explain how specifically your edits related to your COI will be different in the future. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:21, 4 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Response to Editing Restriction

edit

Hello 331dot,

Thank you for your message and for considering my request. I understand your concerns regarding my conflict of interest and the need for assurance that my future edits will adhere to Wikipedia's guidelines.

To address your concerns, I plan to provide factual information about hobby topics and industry brands. So for example, I noticed that a major manufacturer sparkmodel.com is missing from wikipedia. I would like to use my factual knowledge of this manufacturer, to explain their story, how they were founded, where they operate from and what types of products they now produce. Another example, I would like to provide a page dedicated to resin models, explaining what they are, the production process, and their differences to diecast models. Additionally, I am willing to contribute in other areas to demonstrate my commitment to the Wikipedia community. Particularly a passion of mine, of which i am very knowledgeable of - motorsports. An example article I am wanting to submit in this field is the addition of a wikipedia page about the only surviving Le Mans racer from the 1959's, John Turner.

I appreciate your guidance and will ensure my contributions reflect the standards expected by Wikipedia.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
