Speedy deletion nomination of Hit By Lightning (Film)

edit

Hello Mike Ades,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Hit By Lightning (Film) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.  SmileBlueJay97  talk  16:10, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Mike Ades. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Hit By Lightning (Film), you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Drm310 (talk) 21:50, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Hit By Lightning

edit

The article Hit By Lightning has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sources, no evidence of notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi Mike Ades, sorry for negative messages here

edit

Hi Mike Ades, thank you for your contribution of new article, and sorry for the plethora of negative messages here. Welcome to Wikipedia. :( I am sorry it is hard for new editors to get started. I noticed the AFD on Hit by Lightning (film) and have commented there. Since the film is out, and there are sources, I expect the article will be kept, my prediction, but the Wikipedia processes are somewhat random. I see at the IMDB listing for the film that "Mike Ades", presumably you, is one of 2 executive producers of the film, so the link above to wp:COI is helpful. But please note that per that guideline there is no prohibition from associated persons writing about a topic, you just need to abide by guidelines, and you can contribute even about topics you are very much associated with. I appreciate that you used a username that is revealing of your association; disclosing an association is part of the suggested actions. Thanks. I hope you will stay and contribute more. And I hope the film does well in wider distribution! sincerely, --doncram 01:49, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Indeed, welcome. Improving the article was fun and easy to do. Please accept our apologies, for newcomers here do not usually find their talk pages full of so many deletion notifications. Echoing Lugnuts, please feel free to ask for an assist anytime from more experienced editors. You might find WP:PRIMER helpful. Be well. Schmidt, Michael Q. 07:53, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
