Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Maritmemaine. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Sam Chachoua, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 21:45, 1 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

February 2016 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved.  Guy (Help!) 00:34, 3 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

made zero threats of any legal actions. I clearly stated the page is libelous. Which is WP terminology- that WP asked for users to REPORT any page that contains Libelous material or material meant to defame a living person. At no time did I "make a legal threat" - I reported a page that contains the very thing Wkipedia has asked its users to report to protect itself and its aims of being of service to the public. Maritmemaine (talk) 00:40, 3 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I agree that this wasn't necessarily a legal threat, however this is moot considering your obvious conflict of interest and promotional activity. Max Semenik (talk) 01:54, 3 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

the user who blocked me has a deleted page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:JzG - How is it that a user with a deleted page can block an active user? Maritmemaine (talk) 00:52, 3 February 2016 (UTC) (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Nobody's required to have a userpage. Max Semenik (talk)

You are clearly contradicting yourself between "I am not affiliated with Sam Chachoua", below, and "I am working with Dr. Sam Chachoua's team to create a relevant and factual wiki page" here. Also, accusing people who are doing no more than editing a web site as acting in the same way as a regime responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people is an unacceptable attack, and it shows you clearly do not possess the sense of proportion needed to work here. And as you say you are done here (you said dont but I presume you meant done), you're not actually asking to be unblocked anyway. Boing! said Zebedee (talk)

thank you for responding Max Semenik (talk) Three days ago i signed on to wikipedia to help a friend who said Sam Chachoua's wikipedia page was a mess of misinformation and had libelous content devoted to defaming a living person- I agreed to see if i could figure out how to cite his appearance on real time with bill maher on january 29th here is the youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYiq0-M1MDU if you can help that would be wonderful! I have no idea how to use wikipedia- I am not affiliated with Sam Chachoua- nor am i "promoting"- unless you consider citing a reference and posting an appearance on a large new show to be promotional in which case, I am not sure what wikipedia is for. If Albert Einstein ever had a page on wikipedia that looked like sam chachoua's I would be very embarassed for wikipedia- as the whole aim of wikipedia is remaining unbiased. and unless you are unable to view sam chachouas age right now- you must recognize the verbiage on his page is currently rife with extreme prejudice and bias. there is no moot point as you mentioned. You dont know me. and its embarassing that you think some post on my page is actual fact. becuase you read it, makes it true? That is EXACTLY what wikipedia is against. people like you assuming something is true beceuase you read it. where is someone citing me as conflict of interest? no where. I asked for help- and have recieved a level of inane reactionary behavior in alignment with Nazi germany. Im dont here. later kids, best of luck to you all.

Not affiliated, really? Max Semenik (talk) 08:18, 3 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
