  • Access to Special:RevisionDelete has been expanded to include users who have the deletelogentry and deletedhistory rights. This means that those in the Researcher user group and Checkusers who are not administrators can now access Special:RevisionDelete. The users able to view the special page after this change are the 3 users in the Researcher group, as there are currently no checkusers who are not already administrators. (T301928)

On Multi-stage fitness test

The link @TornadoLGS gave [1] has the YouTube video of the audio where they got it from (the title at the top). It's also a meme/copypasta unreliable_source.
If that part IS copyrighted then it should be noted that it is also in Multi-stage fitness test.
I don't really expect any action from this, this isn't a report, I just thought I'd give more perspective on it. – 2804:F14:C060:8A01:7D1F:8377:FD34:F816 (talk) 01:48, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

Thanks. We'll assume it’s copyrighted unless it is explicitly released under a compatible CC BY-SA/GFDL license. I’ll take it out of Multi-stage fitness test. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 01:56, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

New administrator activity requirement

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Shooting suspect

The same name was being abused for yesterday's shooting in Buffalo. I think we'll have to set up an edit filter, and in the meantime, any occurrence of that name should be a signal to block on sight. Acroterion (talk) 00:42, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

Oops, I see this is at ANI, you're already on top of it. Acroterion (talk) 00:49, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
Yes, caught wind of it at AIV. Missed the Buffalo shooting though. I believe User:WikiBayer has an edit filter at Meta. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:55, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

Expand partial block

Could you add National Police of Peru to the partial block on 181.176.0.0/16? There were two recent edits from the "alex Alexander huerta Avendaño" LTA to that page. 2601:647:5800:1A1F:3C39:21C4:F358:1C27 (talk) 23:05, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

Greek ISP rangeblocks related to block evasion and vandalism

I see you rangeblocked 46.176.0.0/16 for the disruption at Talk:Eleni Foureira. I just blocked 79.167.107.179 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) from the same ISP. I'm not 100% confident on setting range sizes for rangeblocks. Does a /16 or some other range need blocked here as well? —C.Fred (talk) 16:03, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

@C.Fred, Special:Contributions/79.167.0.0/16 seems to have a less problematic contribution history. I would probably hold off for now but keep an eye on it. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 16:22, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

86.174.249.215

Hi,

I hope you don't mind but I changed your block for the above IP to a range block. Shona McGarty popped up on my watchlist just now which is how I noticed the block. However, looking at that article in particular it looks like they've done the same vandalism under a different IP for the last couple of days. I was worried tomorrow that they'd just come back with another IP and do the same vandalism. At least with a rangeblock it makes that a little harder :)-- 5 albert square (talk) 20:54, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

No problem at all, 5 albert square. :) I hope you are well? Malcolmxl5 (talk) 20:57, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

86.4.142.53

FYI- I was previously told here by EvergreenFir that they weren't sure if the user (Joshua5320) is the same. However, looking at:

I'm getting more and more convinced that Joshua is the user account of 86.4.142.53 and/or 92.13.218.151. Apart from the evidence/examples I gave above, not quite sure how this can/would be handled, since SPI doesn't connect IPs to accounts... Thanks in advance. Magitroopa (talk) 22:09, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

Ok- now Joshua is doing the same 'Fixed typo'/'don't change' edit summaries as 86.4.142.53 was just doing today... now I'm fairly convinced the IPs/account are connected. Seems like it may be even bigger than those two IPs, as Joshua did a manual revert back to an edit of 78.149.30.44 as well on The Masked Singer (American season 4)- see this vs. this. Based on this in addition to the above, I think Joshua can get blocked now... Magitroopa (talk) 22:14, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
Checkusers will not publicly connect an account with an IP address but an SPI can be submitted without requesting checkuser and a clerk or administrator will conduct a behavioural evidence investigation. But I see Ad Orientem has done the necessary here. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 08:40, 9 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi, happy new month, please I’m here in regards of Snazzy the Optimist because i strongly believe the article have the balls to remain in Wikipedia because most of the sources are reliable and clearly talking about the subject, and it can be improved as time goes on than deleting it because is plausibly notable and can still remain here. Blocked vpn

I just noticed that you blocked 49.167.195.95 and was wondering whether you would mind having a look at 161.8.184.61 (which, to me, looks like it's using a web host)? Many thanks. M.Bitton (talk) 15:33, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

The ISP appears to be a hosting provider and this IP is flagging up as a VPN. So blocked. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 15:50, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to look into it. Best, M.Bitton (talk) 15:52, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
Strangely, usage has apparently been concentrated in the Nayun area of China. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 16:05, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
Which could probably explain why it was blocked on zh.wp first (followed later on by ru.wp). While it's hard to tell how many editors are using it, the narrow interest reminds me a lot of these these two IPs (154.62.182.10 and 135.148.148.205). M.Bitton (talk) 16:35, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

Deletion: Benjamin Beresford

Hello Malcomxl5,

I hope you are well. I am the subject of the subject of the article: Benjamin Beresford, which was deleted by yourself in May 2022. I was incredibly disappointed to discover that the article had been deleted, as I find it serves as a pleasant nostalgic reminder of my previous endeavours. While I understand the points raised by yourself and others, I kindly ask that this page be restored, to keep the (somewhat small) legacy of my former career alive. I hope you understand the sentiment of this page and take my request into consideration.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Gwen Steffard (talkcontribs) 18:36, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
Hi Gwen Steffard, I can appreciate your disappointment that the page has been deleted, particularly if has sentimental value for you. Unfortunately, I’m unable to overturn the consensus of the community but, you know, nothing truly disappears on the internet and the article lives on at the EverybodyWiki. Sock and VPN

The sockpuppet who disrupted Southern Kurdish and Yazidism has now begun disrupting Melek Taûs. Please take a look. I've seen them use around 10 different IPs just today disrupting different articles. Semsûrî (talk) 19:29, 25 June 2022 (UTC)

Now we have hounding as well as seen here.[8]. Semsûrî (talk) 21:27, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Another VPN blocked. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 21:32, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Another one 189.74.89.233 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). Is there any remedy against VPN use other than blocking them one by one? Semsûrî (talk) 21:40, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
None that I know of, I’m afraid. There is a bot that supposedly blocks proxies and VPNs preemptively but clearly it’s only partially effective. Protection is our other tool for persistent disruption on individual pages. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 21:54, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
This one 182.231.154.133 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) keeps adding an inappropriate image at Kurdish women. Semsûrî (talk) 22:11, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
I’ve popped it on the bad images list and revdel the edits. This is simply disruptive behaviour. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:24, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Can you take a look at this account? One-Winged Dragon Its the last active sockpuppet of Ezidishingali. I did open a SPI case days ago but the editor is active at the moment and nothing but disruptive. Semsûrî (talk) 22:55, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
Now blocked. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 06:41, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

Mleczekofficial

I'm reaching out here because I saw you respond, then revert at their post at RFPP. There is something sketchy going on, they gamed auto-confirmed, then immediately started using twinkle to welcome, revert and request protection. I'm pretty certain they're a sock, but the behavior is so generically "newly created disruptive sock" that I can't place it. Is this something worth bringing to ANI? ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:39, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

@ScottishFinnishRadish. I’m generally a bit cautious about reaching conclusions about new editors because, you know, Wikipedia has been around for 21 years which is plenty of time for people to learn about the ways of the wiki before creating an account but yeah, I see what you’re seeing. It’s all fairly innocuous at the moment, harmless welcome messages, a dodgy rollback maybe and the protecting a user talk page thing. I think I would just keep an eye on this at the moment. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 20:09, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
Sounds good, thanks for the input. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:11, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

Andrea Jenkyns

Hi there. The biography page for Andrea Jenkyns will need to adequately summarise this MP's career at some point, without suppressing or diminishing relevant and significant events. Consider:

- The UK hasn't previously experienced an elected representative showing open disrespect for the public / protestors, and in such a prominent and symbolic location (the entrance to Downing Street); - Andrea Jenkyns is significant _for this_ event; - While there are tendentious ways to describe what's significant about an MP, there are also neutral ways to describe such; - Wikipedia aims for neutrality, but this isn't a matter of leaving key facts out, or rendering them less visible. Factvalue (talk) 13:23, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

(Cross-posted to the Andrea Jenkyns talk page for further discussion.) Factvalue (talk) 13:44, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

Vandalism on White Colombians

Hello, I have noticed a high number of vandalism on this page, there is a user Merchancano is misusing the page by removing sources from "White People". In addition to that, he is eliminating numbers from Colombian Arabs (source taken from the Arab Diaspora page), eliminating information from some groups such as the French and Irish, and Colombian sources of estimates.
