Deleted our disuccsion! edit

Perhaps you are aware that it is not Wikipedia's policy to delete talk pages. It lets you air your views and lets other users know what dialogs went into the decision making process Andy why did you do it anyway? The discussion is important. You and I have spent so much time on it. That way tomorrow if someone wants to refer to our discussion he/she can.--Deepak D'Souza 04:57, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Correction, That is perfectly alright according to Wikipdeia. I have withdrawn that comment. Still my request remains that you undo it. --Deepak D'Souza 05:57, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bombay Stock Exchange edit

The question is, is it ever in fact called that? If so, then fine. be careful to include the correct spacing, though, and the standard form of language addition. On another note, though:

Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary. Thanks, and happy editing.

First Konkani book edit

Thanks for your message. The Konkani language article mentions that Doctrina Christam was printed in 1622 whereas hortes indicus malbarics was published in 1678. Anyway I would like to take a look at your picture. Also, can you tell me any additional links etc --Deepak D'Souza 07:29, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is interesting! At first look I thought that this was Marathi not Konkani, however on reading it seems like a good mix of both. Possibly written by a Saraswat Brahmin who may have been bilingual.

For instance he uses the terms त्या औषध whereas in Konkani it would be तीं वोक्तां. The words which give away the writer's Konkani identity are आमगेल्या (used only in GSB dialects)and आमि and आमका. The name विनायक पंडित appears twice. I guess he must be the writer? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 13:02, 27 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

I have my doubts that it is print, at first look it looks like handwriting. I could be wrong : Maybe it is some older printing style where characters were etched onto a mould(maybe bolck prinitng came later).

A google search on Vinayak Pandit or hortes indicus has not given me any conclusive results. If we have a credible source(and preferably an online source) it will be worth mentioning. Till then I feel it is better to keep it aside.

Currently I have purchased a set of books and research articles on Konkani. If this particular books is mentioned in any of these books, I will let you know. --Deepak D'Souza 05:42, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
I suggest that you put up the image on your talk page and leave a message like this. It will help if some passer by views it and has some info.--Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 09:18, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Deepak the image is surely of malbarics (at least the book says so). I shall do it as u suggested but dont think anyone would be helpful for this. Maharashtraexpress 14:46, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The 'Dnyaneshwari' line in Marathi language article edit

Hello M. E.,
May I ask why you reverted the deletion of the line about Dnyaneshwari being written in Konkani from the Marathi language article without any explanation? First of all, if that claim has "found no takers", why should it be there in the article? Secondly, the claim is made on a personal website (kamat.com) which is not a reliable source. Basically, no one doubts that Dnyaneshwari is a Marathi work.

I think you too are working to make the article better, so I do not understand why you're trying to attract attention towards a dispute that does not exist. Max - You were saying? 09:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Maxim, their is no issue of attracting anyone to anywhere. basically their were talks about Marathi being a dialect of Konkani, shravanbelgoil inscription in konkani etc. so to put forth the views of marathi linguists its mention was necessary. To my surprise i am been blocked by someone for being sock-puppetry. can u plz ask that person to unblock me because this is wrong. Maharashtraexpress 14:36, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
