"Thirsty"

I think we have a Lovebird situation here. "Thirsty" is quite clearly the next single, Mariah's confirmed it. She is not concerned with putting singles onto iTunes etc and has said she isn't doing that. It may be the same day the album drops, but to me it just looks like an Impact day release, without the standalone digital release.  — ₳aron 19:46, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

I doubt it. With "Lovebird" there was coverage and announcements from the label. There was also a radio add to UK radio. "Thirsty" was premiered on radio so was "You Don't Know What To Do". "Thirsty" received a remix and single cover, "YDKWTD" received a live performance. The only thing that calls "Thirsty" a single is everyone else who reported on it. Did Mariah herself say it was a single? Did her label confirm it anywhere? I think it may well be a single but I have always said until there is official confirmation such as a press release or release date for download/airplay it nothing should be considered a single. IMO, streaming should now be considered a release because song's put out for streaming are now eligible to chart. Best thing to do is wait. → Lil-℧niquԐ 1 - { Talk } - 19:52, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Carey is no longer featured on Island Records artists roster, in turn she is seen on the restructured Def Jam Recordings website.http://www.defjam.com/artists?legacy=0 There have been three POINTERS that Def Jam Recordings is releasing her fourteenth studio album which Billboard http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6070090/no-beyonce-strategy-for-mariah-careys-new-album reported, In addition, Def Jam FULLY promotes Carey's fourteenth studio album http://www.defjam.com/mariah-carey-mariah-elusive-chanteuse-cover-tracklist/ Oh and I find it so crazy to find Def Jam's copyright message on "Thirsty" on Youtube in the description bar! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BYNma9wxxw I don't see Island anywhere, Oh and let me give you the Island Records website to see if she's a courtesy of the label. http://www.islanddefjam.com/artists/default.aspx?labelID=62 Do you see Mariah anywhere? Another thing, The Island Def Jam Music Group was shuttered by UMG Recordings, Inc. on April 1, 2014, some artists notably Iggy Azalea and Mariah Carey moved to Def Jam. Yes, Mariah confirmed it. Yes, so has her label.  — ₳aron 09:10, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi there, not sure if this really concerns you but you where involved in the process of reverting this dormant state on this project last time so I thought I'd notify you that it's became dormant again. Andreharrell aka Romeo Miller

This Romeo Miller has been on facebook pretending to be a song writer for sony and has claimed to have produced Jeremih's song, Don't tell em. He also claims to have written a song by Kem called it's you. He constantly edits the wiki entries fro to add his name for the Jeremih song, Kem's page and many others. Just wanted to say, I noticed you have warned this fraud but he just never stops. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.166.165.28 (talk) 22:09, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Level Up

Hello,

Hope this finds you well. The confusion is that Level Up didn't chart on the UK Singles Chart. (I wish it did as well). The main UK Singles Chart includes sales and streams. Level Up only charted at 79 on the UK Singles Sales component chart. (Like how the US has a Digital Songs chart vs the Hot 100). Level Up could have possibly charted below the top 100 in the UK Singles Top 200, but not sure where to find.

It also hasn't reached the top ten in New Zealand either. It peaked at 7 on the New Zealand Hot Singles Chart (which is the fastest growing songs of the week - i.e. it was the 7th fastest growing song that week), but hasn't made the top 40 chart. --108.6.192.87 (talk) 21:42, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Did You or Did You Not Protect California Gurls When It First Came Out?

Good evening Lil-Unique1.

Do you listen to Katy Perry during your spare time? After a two year absence when she dropped This Is How We Do a song from her fourth album Prism in 2014, she came back with not one not two but four new singles titled Rise Chained to the Rhythm Bon Appetit and Swish Swish.

The latter three were featured on her fifth long player Witness which was released on June 9 in the preceding year.

An interesting note of these songs had the guest features of Skip Marley Nicki Minaj and Migos.

Now on to the main subject, did you or did you not protect California Gurls when it was first released? That song is 8 years old.

But Teenage Dream didn't have a chance to get protected yet because it got declined with not enough disruptive actions.

Does it have a chord sequence? The Composition section for the aforementioned song says it was set in the tonic of F and runs at a tempo of 125 BPM.

You already know that the music video took place in a Candy Land-style board game with her as a lilac haired game piece in the beginning when Snoop Dogg put her in the ground and lying in a cotton candy cloud in her belly while she was in the bare flesh.

Anyways please respond to me about this quickly. Good night, 67.81.163.178 (talk) 00:41, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

I personally didn't protect them. I don't understand what you're issue is. If you want to make an edit to the article just post on the talk page. If you make constructive edits, then consider making an account so then it won't matter. I don't make the rules - if there has been a significant number of edits which were deemed vandalism or unconstructive then an admin will review a request to protect an article. → Lil-℧niquԐ 1 - { Talk } - 11:11, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

Question: Did Dua Lipa REALLY Had a Modeling Career Before Singing? Also Race In Leading.

You might be a little bit familiar with her work, but I had done this to MaranoFan's page back in April. Unfortunately s/he said that subject wasn't notable for that profession and ethnicity (Albanian born in Great Britain two days three years after Demi Lovato and five months before Hennessy Carolina Cardi B's younger sister mind you) should not be included in opening sentence.

And was she really a fashion model to the likes of the Hadid sisters before becoming a musician? Cause the contract was too short and ended on a sour note.

Additionally, opening sentence be something transposed to e.g. "English singer songwriter and retired model" even though she is just 23 years.

An interesting factoid: Coffee Talk a Season 3 episode of Disney's Nanny-style sitcom series Jessie aired on what could've been her 19 birthday. Last but not least if one researches her right now before 21 August 2015 a "did not match any documents" notice will pop up. Link to article: en.wikipedia.org/w/Dua_Lipa.

Your edits to Phoenix (Rita Ora album)

Hi. Regarding your edits to Phoenix (Rita Ora album) and your edits to other articles that I have seen, I feel like you still edit according to what Wikipedia was like years ago and you are perhaps not familiar with more recent guidelines and changes. Firstly, recording locations are not supposed to be put in recorded= per Template:Infobox album#recorded. This is for numeric values only. Studio= is for locations, including countries. Per WP:OVERLINK, we should not be linking to well-known countries like Sweden and the UK anywhere on an article, but we also do not link well-known cities in the infobox per Template:Infobox album#studio. Furthermore, it appears you are still using semicolons to bold. I believe I have raised this with you before. Per WP:PSEUDOHEAD, it is no longer appropriate to use semicolons to bold, and either boldface (with three apostrophes) or third-level headings should be used. Also, an IP removed your excessive use of images and I agree—for a personnel section, that was excessive and debatably a misuse. We shouldn't flood an album article with headshots of artists who collaborated on it. Also, where appropriate, we should be spelling out state names and not assuming everybody outside of the US knows what "CA" and yes, even "NY", refers to, although in this case they did not need to be there anyway. There are multiple guidelines on this. Finally, please see MOS:ALBUM on how we link and format personnel sections. This has changed from several years ago when you were a regular editor and not "semi-retired". Thank you. Ss112 09:35, 26 December 2019 (UTC)

@Ss112:, thank you for these notes. I wasn't aware that you had mentioned PSUEDOHEAD before - apologies if you had I clearly hadn't remembered or been aware. I think you're right though and lots of things have changed a lot since I last properly was active (circa 2013). I shall bare these that in mind when I'm editing and if I get time, I'll go back through any articles and start updating. Thanks for the tips and assumption of WP:GOODFAITH. Merry Christmas → Lil-℧niquԐ 1 - (Talk) - 16:22, 26 December 2019 (UTC)

Regarding you citing WP:ALBUMSTYLE

Regarding you citing WP:ALBUMSTYLE in numerous edit summaries—ALBUMSTYLE is not a guideline nor a policy; it is an essay. We do not have to follow what it says. It's not even a "should attempt to follow". It's a mere recommendation. Any user can write an essay and recommend others follow it. I think you are confusing what should be done (guidelines, policies) with recommendations. Great, you agree with the essay. But there is no need to change headings to follow what it says. Also, you do not need to keep putting underscores in wikilinks, even when linking to a section. They are unnecessary. Ss112 02:49, 31 December 2019 (UTC)

Note that as you have at least five prior DYK credits (six, actually), you will need to do a quid pro quo review, which involves giving a full DYK review of another's nomination. Let me know if you need any help with what's involved with that; the basic criteria are listed above the edit window of any DYK nomination template. Best of luck going forward! Hi there! I noticed you recently removed the Romanian chart peak for "React". Please note that the chart is reliable, and that it reflects the most broadcast songs on various radio stations and television channels in the country. The ranking is compiled by Media Forest and published on Kiss FM. The Airplay 100 is the successor of the Romanian Top 100. Please see Romanian record charts for further clarification. Thank you; Cartoon network freak (talk) 18:14, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

And btw, there was even a note in the code, saying it shouldn't be removed since it was reliable. Surely not "not supported" :) Greets; Cartoon network freak (talk) 18:15, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
Cartoon network freak I am aware that the Romanian Top 100 can be sourced however, when the article went through the GA review process, the reviewer couldn't validate the peak so it was removed. I've no doubt of the authenticity of the chart, just that it couldn't be verified from the source given. If it is sourced from the radio show, would be good to include the time during the show it was confirmed. Lil-℧niquԐ1 - (Talk) - 22:34, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
Ah, I see. I included a written alternative. Greets; Cartoon network freak (talk) 06:16, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

Invite to discussion

Do not know if you would be interested, however, in knowing your experience in editing music-related articles, thought you would like to participate in the discussion here. Would appreciate a sound-minded, third person to come into discussion. livelikemusic (TALK!) 23:31, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

livelikemusic, very kind of you to describe me in that way! I've left my thoughts at the discussion page. While I do think reliable sources play a key role in the questions asked, I do also think it is important to apply some logic as record labels and artists always try to downgrade what they deem to be unsuccessful singles or include songs released a feature to boost album sales. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 11:27, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
That is more than fine; the intention of inviting other editors was to bring a more rounded viewpoint of things, and to evolve the discussion beyond what it was [unfortunately] becoming. livelikemusic (TALK!) 12:23, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

I apologize for the uncited edits on the Maroon 5 pages.I will no longer edit them in the future. 16:55, 2 June 2020 (UTC)user:Dark Lord Thomas Pie

@Dark Lord Thomas Pie: I appreciate the apology. You are allowed to edit them, we just discourage adding uncited material. Problems with Chromatica Edits

Maybe it's the format, it depends where you at it. Sometimes if you view the post on desktop, it won't tell you the entire post. If you view it form your phone, it allows you to expand and see everything. At the bottom of this post it lists all the song that BURNS contributed to, including that of "Love Me Right", alongside BloodPop. User talk:Whippy7 20:00, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
@Whippy7: Yes, I apologise, I was not able to see this before. I've expanded the reference and formatted it so there are no doubts. It did however say BURNS produced it so added it to the producer bit but not the writer bit. Also, please don't copy my signature style - it looked like you were taking the mickey out of my username too so I've removed. To sign your own user name, please use ~~~~

Hello there, I saw your message saying that if the Finneas songs be quick failed because they received limited coverage. But, songs like VKTM and Sober also received limited coverage and are at ga class. Will the articles you’re reviewing be quick failed? DarklyShadows (talk) 14:38, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

DarklyShadows Hi, no I won't be quick failing them. I deleted the message on the talkpage because I had a quick look and saw lots of other songs that are short but have been passed too. :) ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 19:48, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

Genius.com

I'm not sure which editors you're referring to. Only one comes to mind and said person had a habit of willfully disregarding Wikipedia policies/guidelines prior to our discussions and receiving instruction. All while either relying on user-generated content as sources and/or resorting to original research, particularly when it came to assigning genres. Also had a habit of reflexively resorting to somewhat juvenile personal attacks, illogical arguments and at least one instance of meatpuppetry during said discussion. I've come to notice this is often the case for people who almost exclusively edit hip-hop related articles. Anyway, has since eased and now writes better articles while staying within guidelines, but have their moments.

As for Genius.com, it’s almost entirely composed of anonymously user-submitted content. Meanwhile, when it comes to inclusion, its overseeing staff members don't appear to be concerned with information that is verifiable so much as information that is appealing. Perhaps why its a deluge for inaccurate or outright false claims and the occasional conspiracy theory. If a page features a link or two to a credible source, think its best to simply use that given source as a citation.

That all said and done, I leave citations taken from articles where the artist related to the song in question gave an exclusive Genius commentary interview. This is in accordance to previous discussion while being mindful of WP:BLPSELFPUB. While I haven't been provided anything specific, if I skipped a beat, my mistake. As said elsewhere, RapGenius.com has been cited as unreliable per discussion time and again, its simply a matter of someone getting around to adding it to the the list. --Ascribe4 (talk) 18:15, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

I was not merely referring to lyrics in regard to the accuracy of Genius.com. They've also been inaccurate regarding who wrote or produced what, where it a given song was made and in the case of derivative songs—have a strong tendency to get sample sources wrong or confuse the notion of a sample with an interpolation in the first place (much like WhoSampled). If a link to a credible source is cited on a given Genius page and/or if credit info matches that which can be found on a credible site, it's really best to go with the source. I will admit the site has improved over the years as it’s gotten more popular. However, that’s really only in regard to it being more willing to work more closely with content creators. (i.e. being more willing to cooperate with publishers, artists more frequently contributing to those interviews I do try to leave be here, etc) Nevertheless, there are some critically unreliable aspects about the site which I doubt will ever erode. Namely it’s unquestioning trust and steadfast reliance on WhoSampled and random, subjective material staffers come across on fan forums.
In my experience, citing WP:NOTRSMUSIC in the edit summary does effectively impart the message that Genius is not a reliable source and there is the discussion to support the designation. Truly is just a matter of someone adding Genius.com and its related two discussions to the unreliable section on the page. Please don't get me wrong, I do get what you’re saying. But this honestly has worked fine up until now. Except of course from random IPs and that aforementioned user who time and again deliberately ignored instruction and advice and really didn't want to move on from the site and let it as well as various other user-generated websites and certain blogs they’d come accustomed to go. Anyway, didn't come off as harsh at all. I hope that everything was clarified on my part and I hope did not come off as dismissive. --Ascribe4 (talk) 16:10, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

I'm in Love Without You

Has I'm in Love Without You passed GA? DarklyShadows (talk) 23:44, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

DarklyShadows I was going to pass it but Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums#Ones_to_Watch this discussion means the sources just don't meet GA standard. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 09:40, 25 June 2020 (UTC

I want to withdraw the nominations for New Girl and Break My Heart Again then. It’s to bad that my time was wasted like that.

DarklyShadows I apologise if you view it as your time wasted. The intention was not to do so however, after another editor has pointed our a very valid discussion that now renders the other articles ineligible too due to their over-reliance on Ones to Watch which has been highlighted as an inadequate source. You shouldn't view it as time wasted, because the partial process which has been initiated has improved the quality of the articles if nothing else. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 13:03, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

GA review formatting

Lil-unique1, thanks for doing GA reviews. There are just a couple of minor things you'll want to know about GA review formatting going forward. First, don't do any level-2 headers (with the "==" on both sides) in the review, only level-3 ("===") and beyond. It causes problems when the reviews are transcluded on the article talk pages to have any level-2 headers after the required "GA review" one at the very top.

Second, if you need to fail an article, please be sure to use five tildes (~~~~~) in the {{FailedGA}} template rather than the usual four tildes you use for signing your posts: the five tildes create the date/time string, as opposed to the four tildes that include both your sig and the date/time. I've just fixed the two FailedGA templates you created earlier today to remove those sigs; they should be fine now. I've also adjusted a couple of reviews to make the later level-2 headers into level-3 ones. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:05, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

My bad BlueMoonset, thanks for fixing those and the note about 5 tildes. I hadn't realised! ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 14:06, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

I have to apologize for the way I’ve acted. It’s been a rough few days for me. I shouldn’t get mad at you like that. You are a good reviewer and tried to do all you can. And I promise i will never talk like that to you again. DarklyShadows (talk) 14:40, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

DarklyShadows I accept your apology. Perhaps take some time out and come back feeling refreshed? I'm sorry to hear you've been having a bad time. Your passion is great, don't lose that. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 14:44, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Article trimming

Hi there! I realised my mistake for trimming charts in the article for "Despacito" and restored them. Do you have any advice for trimming? I already trimmed around 65,000 bytes but the article is still too long for Wikipedia standards apparently. Brankestein (talk) 21:43, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

Brankestein - think we just have to be careful with charts as some countries don't have an "official chart" in the sense that one chart is more important than another. I think you've done a great job trimming it. I think now the best thing to do is organise all of the info about the JB remix into one succinct like Say So (Doja Cat song) did with the Nicki Minaj remix of the song. This would improve navigation greatly, allowing people to navigate to the remix which is clearly more notable in the West and gained significant traction. Also having seperate charts in this way will just help massively (much less confusing). I'd be happy to remove the tags on that basis - I placed them! But it is an arbitrary decision - you can remove them if you think you've done enough. Genuinely, congrats. The article is in MUCH BETTER shape. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 10:14, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

Please fix your custom signature, as shown in this edit. The opening bold tag and the closing span tag need to be moved so that they are symmetrical and correctly nested. Thanks! – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:16, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Jonesey95, not sure I understood exactly what that meant but I've fixed it anyway. Thanks for the tip ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }-

Album singles question

Hey Lil-unique1, I have a question regarding album singles, is there a reason why we are including random songs being played on the radio as singles without any announcement or really any promo from the artists themself? I’ve noticed a lot of random songs always are being played on some radio station in Italy called EarOne. Which to me it’s odd that we have to include them. But is there any rule stating this? If so do you know where? Pillowdelight (talk) 21:34, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

Pillowdelight Hi Pillow. There's no single page to refer to as such. The key principle for a single is it should have an independent release from the parent album or body of work. There should be some alternativew mention too like support from the label or reliable news outlets etc. As for EarOne I've never heard of it but then I'm based in the UK and would not know about European radio stations. It might be worth raising EarOne at WP:RSN. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 10:04, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

I just want to say thanks for what you said about me at ANI. I do indeed have a lot of discographies watchlisted, but nowhere have I said nor would claim or try to imply I "own" discographies. I know it wasn't necessarily what your intention to speak for me but you said exactly what I would have said had I replied (and now I don't feel the need to), but it means more coming from someone else. There's a draft for Draft:Words (Alesso song)

I see you've started working on a userspace draft for "Words" by Alesso. If your userspace draft was to be moved into mainspace, I kind of think it would be wrong for another user to have had their work moved into draftspace for what was clearly already a notable topic and then disregarded or made redundant. Is there any way you can combine your work with what User:Exemleer created and then move the draft back into mainspace? The track listing, charts and release history sections appear much the same anyway. If I'm not mistaken, it looks like you're already aware of the draft and worked on the pre-existing structure of what was there for your own draft. Things like the charts section and the characteristic align="Center" (with the capital C) and citation titles for New Zealand, for example, are the same with some modifications. There's nothing wrong with copying what someone else did and working on it yourself in theory, as it's only in a userspace draft for now, but because of this I think the attribution should be combined, so I'm asking if you're willing to do that. Obviously you're a native English speaker and have expanded on and worded things better than Exemleer initially did so I have no problem if you wish to replace the prose sections with yours (and I don't think Exemleer, if they were aware, would have a problem either). I've expanded the charts section on the draft. Ss112 13:54, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

How did you know I was working on a draft of "Words" by Alesso? That's a bit creepy! I'm genuinely curious to know. I wasn't aware that there was a draft of the song tbh - its a happy coincidence. But yes- sounds like a good idea. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 17:44, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
I clicked through to your contributions after seeing you revert Thomasamuse at Break My Soul earlier. I thought Thomasamuse might have done another unexplained pop music article edit spree (that they've done a few times in the past couple of years) that you had caught—but it appears it was just the one. Either way, thanks for expanding the draft. I think it's fine to be moved into mainspace already so I'll move it. Ss112 02:52, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
  • Yes Ss112- it was supposed to read December-Jan as in the whole months in 2021 to 2022 not 21st Dec to 22nd Jan. We don't know the specific dates - just that Alesso said it was recorded somewhere between December last year and jan this year. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 23:11, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

Skyryse Feedback

Hi Lil-unique1. I was hoping to get more information on your feedback at Draft:Skyryse. I understand Wikipedia's notability criteria and thought the company qualified, based on multiple in-depth profile stories in national media like The New York Times.[2][3][4][5][6] If these sources are not good enough to qualify for a page, then there is nothing further for me to do, other than kindly request, if you are willing, that you educate me on how these articles fail the criteria, so I can be a better Wikipedia contributor in the future. In contrast, if the problem is just that the content of the draft I submitted is too promotional, I can give it a second try. Dtearse (talk) 17:27, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Singles?

Hey @Lil-unique1:, I wanted to get your opinion on the Britney Jean singles — “Til It’s Gone” and It Should Be Easy as I don’t see any official announcement for them being released as singles other than sources for them being serviced to French and Italian radio only. And per Template:Infobox album states — “Do not add specialty- or limited-release singles, such as those supplied to radio stations and music publications, which are often marked as "Promo copy" or "Promotional".” As well as Promotional single refers to it as — a single that is made available to radio stations, nightclubs, music publications, and other media outlets by a record label to promote a commercial single or album. So I figured I’d try to get your opinion on what you think this should be labeled as? Single or promo? Or even just song? Thanks! Pillowdelight (talk) 18:59, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

@Pillowdelight: I would not classify them as singles. There needs to be supporting announcements other than "being played at Radio". "Nothing but Love" by Whitney Houston was played by AC radio in the UK to promote the Nothin But Love tour but nothing ever confirmed it was a source. I tend to apply WP:THREE and also some logic i.e. was there any confirmatory sources after the song's supposed radio add date which confirms its a single? It would be highly unlikely that songs are serviced to just Italian and French radio. The UK, US, Asia and Australia are generally the biggest markets for Spears. >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 20:04, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
Do you think it should be changed to song or promotional single? Pillowdelight (talk) 20:10, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
Song. Promotional singles need to be in promotion of something e.g. countdown to the album etc. I would change it so it says "according to [source], "song" was made available to radio stations in X". >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 20:14, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

RE: Draft: Brian Krock I added cites for career and removed un sourced content in early life. Mistephake (talk) 16:08, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
