Speedy deletion nomination of World Peace Sign edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on World Peace Sign, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.  GILO   A&E 22:37, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on World peace sign requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Editing with a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Leo J123. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. People with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, see the conflict of interest guideline and frequently asked questions for organizations. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, its competitors, or projects and products you or they are involved with;
  • instead, propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

Last but not least: All contributors must not contribute content that violates conflict of interest laws (just as all contributors must respect copyright). The Unfair Commercial Practices Directive is valid throughout the European Union. In a German court decision in 2012 (that also relied on the directive) regarding Wikipedia: "The court held that when a company edits a Wikipedia article, the resulting text falsely creates the impression that the edit has no business-related purpose. By implication, the judges found that the average reader of Wikipedia articles expects to find objective and neutral information." That is a very very important condition, comparable to the FTC Guide" that consumers are likely to believe reflects the opinions, beliefs, findings, or experience of a party other than the sponsoring advertiser”. This expectation by consumers of neutral information on Wikipedia, requires that companies not write "their" WP articles for PR/marketing purposes.

Editors who are compensated for their contributions should make the disclosure by placing the {{connected contributor (paid)}} template at the top of the talk page of affected articles and filling in the parameters. They should also supply this information as part of a list on their user page of all their paid contributions.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing, and autobiographies. Thank you. —Largo Plazo (talk) 01:06, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

  Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with World peace sign. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. I dont understand why i keep getting the World Peace Sign article wrong and hence deleted. I don't understand the conflict of interest or the references being incorrect because with respect to the other articles that i've seen, there are ton of extra information such as websites and other links where people can get information pertaining to the article. For example the Peace Sign or Lamar Odom for crying out loud. So I dont' understand why they want to delete the World Peace Sign, it have just enough right to be in the Wiki as the Peace Sign.??? "World Peace Sign" keeps getting denied? edit

I am very dissatisfied and appalled with Wikipedia and Wiktionary (who blocked me for saying that my definitions were gibberish), when all i am trying to do is post an educational article of importance pertaining to the official World Peace Sign; a multi-cultural, global symbol of World Peace. There is no difference in what I am trying to do and what Gerald Holtom (the designer/creator of the Peace Sign)would have done if Wikipedia had existed in the 1950's. So much for World Peace i.e. World Peace Sign.... What so bad about this:

World Peace Sign is a symbol that represents awareness, consciousness and prevention of atrocities against the human race and planet Earth to collectively promote love & unity. There are two versions of the World Peace Sign. 1. The “W” sign. A hand gesture made by holding up the hand with the palm turned outward and the first three fingers extended in a W-shape, with the thumb holding down the pinky finger. 2. The “Shield”. The official figure or symbol representing World Peace, in the form of a circle, within it three lines facing upward in a W-shape and two additional lines connected in an upside down V-shape. Oddly enough the original ubiquitous peace sign had been mistakenly called the world peace sign until the official World Peace Sign was designed and copyrighted in 2005 and trademarked on April 30th 2013 (which is known as World Peace Sign Day) by World Peace Sign Brand.

Nothing is "so bad" about it. It doesn't belong here for reasons I've already shared with you. Wikipedia articles must be about notable topics. Notability is not determined based on an author's own insistence of the topic's importance. See WP:N for information on how notability is assessed.
It's clear that you are trying to use Wikipedia as a means of disseminating information about something you created. This is not what Wikipedia is for. Please read WP:COI.
In addition, Wikipedia is not for false representations, such as the ones I already discussed with you and which I have now removed from the article. —Largo Plazo (talk) 22:47, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
