Your recent editing history at Sade (band) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Wikipedia is a collaborative editing environment. Continually reverting over and over is not helpful and WILL get you blocked. Generally, when someone reverts your change, you need to start a discussion on the article talk page about the edits. Yes, the other edits are also edit-warring. But you're the one who's pushing the change, you really need to be the one who starts the discussion. Ravensfire (talk) 01:07, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation of Sade

edit

To whom it may concern, the Pronunciation is verified by Sade’s tour manager.

Sade (Pronounced “Shar-Day” with a slighter hint of the “r”) It is of Yoruban and African origin, and the meaning of Sade is "honor confers a crown". Short form of Folasade. The Nigerian singer Sade has influenced popularity of the name and the shar-DAY pronunciation.

Epic Records also made a point to print : Pronunciation “Shar-Day” on the cover art for Sade’s “Diamond Life” release. See also Shadiya and Sharde.

Sade is also nicknamed “The Lady Shard”. (See IMDb reference) LeaderXYZ (talk) 01:30, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

What do you even mean by “a slighter hint of the ‘r’”? Please cite a source where a it is clearly shown that rhotic dialects should pronounce an R in her name. And either way, if your edits don’t even follow the systems at Help:IPA/English and Help:Pronunciation respelling key, you are only being disruptive. (Mind WP:3RR.) 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 07:54, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Sade says it herself often . Go to interviews on YouTube . Also , Just look up the Diamond Life album and you will find Shar-Day printed right under the name “Sade” on the sleeve and the physical cd/vynl/cassette of millions of copies sold. Sade would not let the pronunciation pass if She or her band didn’t approve for Epic records to print. Don’t deny what’s presented, and stated clearly with proof ( image search it- Diamond Life Sade -Shar-day) LeaderXYZ (talk) 08:06, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
She is British, so she wouldn’t pronounce the R anyway. And look at this:

When singer Sade and her band of the same name were establishing themselves, their record company, Epic, printed "Pronounced Shar-day" on the record labels of their releases (which led to mispronunciation in rhotic North America).

If you are going to challenge the pronunciation, you should at least keep the article consistent (besides of course providing proper refs for your change, that say it is pronounced with R in rhotic accents). 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 08:11, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
And by the way, in the very first YouTube video I found there are two North American (with a very clearly rhotic accent) hosts saying “shah-” and not “shar-”, which would be audible in that case. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 08:16, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
And who wrote that? You? Millions of people along with Sade and her band pronounce it Sharday Say it anyway you want. It’s Shar-day, All day every day. LeaderXYZ (talk) 08:16, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
I didn’t. But a claim that leads to a change should be supported by proper referencing. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 08:53, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
An can you explain her being named “The Lady Shard”? With an “R” and not your “h”, or “w” or whatever you decided to replace Sade and Epic records Pronunciation with. Check IMDb references as well . LeaderXYZ (talk) 08:19, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
I explain it as being coined in the UK, for the above reasons. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 08:53, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Does the cover art by Epic Records and Sade with “Shar-Day” clearly printed below Sade (Diamond Life) specifically tell 17 million people to keep the “R” silent. Let’s be realistic here. Epic Records and Sade herself along with her band, would have spelled and printed “Shah-day” under Sade on the cover art of millions upon millions of units sold in order to prevent the World from mispronouncing it. LeaderXYZ (talk) 08:26, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Do you realize they might not have thought about it from a non-rhotic perspective? 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 08:53, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
“They” (being Epic Records, Sade and her band) Would have thought of it has how do we simply want America to Pronounce it. Hence printing “Shar-day” under Sade. Clear as day. “Shar-day”. LeaderXYZ (talk) 09:00, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Alright, you don’t realize. Go on with your disruptive editing, someone will stop you anyway. But at least bother to use {{IPAc-en}} and {{respell}} properly and to make the article consistent. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 09:11, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
And you go and have 17 million units of Sade’s album recalled, so you can magic marker Shah Day over them all and correct America’s reading skills. Just stop denying the facts. it’s not that serious . There’s a YouTube video with Sade herself explaining that even she tries to get to the closest pronunciation of her family given name. She says British people tend to say it one way and Americans say it another. The fact is they approved Shar Day on their release. No question about it. LeaderXYZ (talk) 09:17, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
If you edit the article and cite your sources the proper way, you will be constructive. And stop opening a new section for every reply on the same topic, that’s (for the Nth time) not how it works. Have a nice day. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 09:23, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
And for the record, you were supposed to open this discussion here or here. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 09:27, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
