Imidacloprid. And imidacloprid and bees

Hello, I do not want to be disruptive and I want to collaborate. Every change I make they revert. Their story is one sided and extreme. Certainly not neutral. Imidacloprid and bees is not about water. Yet they quote a partial paragraph In a document that in the same paragraph says it is safe and does not leach.

I added a viable quote about trees and bees and they take it out. He just reverts. Please tell me what I can do as I work with this material, know a lot about it, and find it very upsetting to have them trash this.

Also while some of their info is accurate. They do not allow the US govt reports and university experts who say this issue is about monoculture, mites, disease, and the fact these are artificial man made hives that are sprayed purposely with pesticides to kill parasites.

This material is 100 times safer than the toxins it replaced. It is currently saving 100's of thousands of trees from EMerald ash borer, Asian long horned borer, hemlock wholly Adelaide, and others.

Sandbox

I see you have reverted edits to both the sandbox and its subsequent talk sandbox. Don't revert changes to these (notably blankings). The bot will restore the headers. Krenair, I see no reason you shouldn't clean up the sand box. Sometimes doing so is very useful, and at the worst it is doing something which would have been done by a bot soon, so nothing has been lost except a minute of your time. I don't understand why anyone would object. Also, I would have thought that if "People can write and delete whatever they want on those pages", then that includes you cleaning it up if you want to. Doing so will generate a warning on the user's talk page, which doesn't really apply here (unless, of course, you use the revert/no warn button). Yes, that puts a very different light on the matter, Krenair. In fact on this occasion the Huggle edit produced not just a talk page warning, but a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, which was certainly not appropriate for an edit which consisted simply of emptying the sanddbox. The problem here was not reverting the sandbox, but rather inappropriate use of Huggle. When you revert with Huggle, if you use the big red button on the left with an exclamation mark, then Huggle will usually automatically produce a talk page warning or a report at AIV. However, there are other ways of using Huggle. For example, you can use the smaller red button further to the right to avoid automatic messages, or you can click on the little downward pointing triangle immediately next to the big red button to customise the messaging. It is essential to stop and think when using Huggle. It is not good enough to simply see that a page has been blanked, and click on the big button without a further thought: rather, it is necessary to consider each case, and make an intelligent assessment as to whether the blanking should be reverted, and if so whether a warning message on the user's talk page is appropriate. Checking each time in this way slows down the use of Huggle considerably, but it is essential to do so. You are just as responsible for your edits when using automated tools as when editing manually. In this case reverting the sandbox edit was harmless or even slightly helpful, but the AIV report was totally wrong. JamesBWatson (talk) 08:37, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

So I understand now that reverting blankings of the sandbox is pointless and warning/reporting for it is wrong. As for my thought process before clicking the button, I can assure you it wasn't simply that I noticed the page had been blanked. Because it has significant coverage from only two of the sources. One of which isn't reliable. You should also explain in edit summaries why you are removing such tags. They're not supposed to be helpful to the article, but to editors. They're also completely appropriate. That was not a duplicate link that you removed. Amaranth Games and Aldorlea Games are two different organizations that are significant within the rpg ingie gaming niche. You can even view their Wikipedia articles. Please revert back the references, because Smolders can not add games to those website (the must be added by Amaranth Games and Aldorlea Games themselves). The sources are all regular contributors to independent gaming and I'm not sure how you can say they are unreliable.

Furthermore, the vested interest doesn't make those warnings appropriate. The article itself is entirely unbiased an unpromotional. Warnings like that deter and disrespect the credability of an article, that would otherwise be taken as it is.

There's no call for either warning considering the neutrality and citations.

Actually it sort of was. The URL provided for the duplicate reference was http://www.indiegamemag.com/victim-of-xen-review-female-fantasy. If you check the article then you'll see that the URL occured twice. The second of which is correct because it bears the correct date and title. I think you put the wrong URL for the one I removed. As for the notability template, I'm not sure anymore, and I'd like to avoid being involved in a dispute over it. This is untrue! You, as an entity, have the power to discover truth and influence decision (others). I can't find out what the contents of the article were when it was deleted. I therefore can't decide whether it was justified or not. The article was the same as when you viewed it ("Victim of Xen is a role-playing video game...etc") with the same citations.

I added "It has been noted for it's gender-swap story." and moved those two review citations down next to that (since that's the first thing those sources talk about).

Shortly before it was deleted, I was working to display the basic cover art image.

Firstly you've been removing substantial content without either using an edit summary to explain the removal or discussing what amount to major changes on the article talk page first. Secondly your edits appear to be removing negative views of the project and adding positive ones. I totally understand. Please don't take my concern as impatience. We are all volunteers and give our time when and if we are able to. My own contributions wax and wane depending on circumstance. I hope you enjoyed your holiday. As far as CVUA is concerned, I hope I have improved in your eyes. I certainly try to AGF more than in the past and I have been taking more interest in new page patrolling. I am also taking a greater interest in the higher standards required for BLPs. Still making mistakes of course but sometimes my bad reverts result in engagement with editors that ultimately lead to pleasing outcomes. Hello Alexander, now I am able to read mediawikiwiki:Manual:Edit token in Firefox 15. Yesterday this was not the case, all I got to see was some "Russian" text. But I think the problem is or was my laptop in combination with Firefox 15. I was not able to update the Java plugin for Firefox, it crashed every time. It is ok now. I'm not entirely sure of the details, but there is a column in our view of SecurePoll that shows a red X when it thinks there might've been a cross-site request forgery (CSRF) of the vote. It triggers for a large number of people, so I suspect it is just that the voting software has trouble interpreting all browser/connection settings. Thanks for confirming. For future reference, it is better to deal with vandalism by checking the article's page history to determine how it appeared before it was vandalised. You can then restore the whole article, or the relevant part of it, to an appropriate earlier version. Hey Krenair! I am Petrb, one of core developers of Huggle, the antivandalism tool, which you are beta testing (according to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members#Beta_testers). Elton John's TIny Dancer page

I recently attempted (twice) to modify the wiki page for Elton John's Tiny Dancer, because it has an error. The page mentions that the song references Billy Joel in a line ("Piano man..."), but this seems impossible; Tiny Dancer was released two years before Piano Man was. So the trivia seems impossible (how would Bernie Taupin reference a song from the future?). Even cursory research on wikipedia backs this up.

How can I go about changing the page so that the inaccurate trivia is removed?

New huggle 3.1 is going to be released soon

Hi Krenair, we are to release a new major version of huggle, but we did receive almost no feedback from our beta testing team, which you are a part of (see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members). It would be of a great help if you could download it (if you have windows, all you need to do is getting http://tools.wmflabs.org/huggle/files/huggle3.1.0beta.exe and putting it to a folder where you have installed huggle) and test it. You can always get a help with making it @ #huggle ^connect!

Major changes:

• Multisite support - you can now log in to unlimited number of wikis in 1 huggle session and get a huge queue of all edits made to these wikis. This is good for smaller projects which gets overlooked often.
• Ranged diffs - you can select multiple revisions and get a huge diff that display all changes done to them.
• Fixes of most of bug reports we had so far

I only removed the obscene language; I tried to revert to the correct syntax but it had been edited so many times in the past with vandalism it was difficult to determine what the proper syntax was. I emailed the Wiki team to notify them of the issue. Breaking the template was obviously not my goal; it was already broken when I got to it and was not displaying properly to begin with. Phabricator use

Hi, as an occasional user of Phabricator who's never entirely sure how it works, I greatly appreciated reading mw:User:Krenair/Phabricator projects. One question I'm very curious about, that it doesn't address: What are the negative consequences of tickets that are "undiscovered"? I.e., if I enter a bug for something, and there are no regular Phabricator users who are well-positioned to take action, what's the downside? Great to hear that my page was useful, thanks. :) The downside is that it's likely no one watching Phabricator will be able to help you with the ticket. Thanks for the quick reply. Could you elaborate a little? From my perspective (as somebody filing a bug), I'm fairly used to ad hoc communities. While I might want a timely response, I don't expect one, any more than I expect a talk page message on a rarely-viewed Wikipedia article to get a timely response. Documenting a needed task in a structurally sensible place is what I'm looking to do; and if it doesn't get a response, I can always take other steps to draw attention to it (if needed). When I do that, having the bug to point to is useful.

So from my perspective, it's not at all a case of "achieving nothing." But, to get back to my original question -- what is the impact of having hundreds more open tasks? Are we at risk of stretching the technical limits of Phabricator? No, we're not stretching the technical limits of Phabricator in that way as far as I know (there are other limits of Phabricator we're pushing but that's another subject). Well, it's difficult to know what most users think, without polling them; but I'm not sure if that's the right question. If a user enters a bug, I think it is reasonable (and respectful) to start from the assumption that they had a reason for doing so. Perhaps it is worthwhile to point out to an inexperienced Phabricator user when it is unlikely their ticket will generate a response on its own. But closing a ticket does nothing to address the underlying problem that the user may not know how to get attention to the issue; it merely removes one possible avenue that could be one component of an effort to generate that attention. (Please note also, in this particular case, my tickets were in fact helpful in getting the issues addressed, despite your belief they would not be.) -Pete (talk) 19:19, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

Closing such tickets without explaining that it's the wrong forum is probably a bad idea, yes. Phabricator is not a support forum and should not be used as such to find the correct forum. I think you may have just been lucky with your ticket. Also -- thank you for clarifying the issue of pushing the technical limits. I suspected that was not the case, but wasn't sure. Upcoming changes to wikitext parsing

There will be some changes to the way wikitext is parsed during the next few weeks. It will affect all namespaces. You can see a list of pages that may display incorrectly at Special:LintErrors. Since most of the easy problems have already been solved at the English Wikipedia, I am specifically contacting tech-savvy editors such as yourself with this one-time message, in the hope that you will be able to investigate the remaining high-priority pages during the next month.

There are approximately 10,000 articles (and many more non-article pages) with high-priority errors. The most important ones are the articles with misnested tags and table problems. Some of these involve templates, such as infoboxes, or the way the template is used in the article. In some cases, the "error" is a minor, unimportant difference in the visual appearance. In other cases, the results are undesirable. You can see a before-and-after comparison of any article by adding ?action=parsermigration-edit to the end of a link, like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Foss?action=parsermigration-edit (which shows a difference in how {{infobox ship}} is parsed).

petscan-issue (Gateway timeout)

Hi, you are shown as the last one, who restarted petscan (April 4). petscan is again showing gateway timeout for quite some days. Can you restart the cluster again? I have so far had no success trying to contact the administrators Magnus Manske or Andrew Bogott, so I hope you can help.

NB: there seems to be some fundamental issue with the petscan installation. How can an investigation into the petscan software be initiated?

@Wikipeter-HH: Hi, Andrew Bogott is a Wikimedia Cloud VPS admin, he is unlikely to know anything about this particular service running on top of Cloud VPS.
