Why you delete the micronation Frestovenia

Hello. You have deleted the micronation Frestovenia at the list of currencies of micronations.Europeanfret (talk) 15:49, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

I see no indication that this particular micronation is worthy of inclusion on this list; indeed, the article you created about it was speedily deleted, and rightfully so. Wikipedia is for notable topics, not things made up one day. I hope this information helps. --Kinu t/c 16:58, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Extended confirmed protection
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

Hello, Kinu. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

Hi Kinu.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

salted page recreation
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

Hi there, it seems you where the most recent admin to review the deletion discussion and salting around Nicholas Alahverdian. It seems there is some recent news around the case that made the person known - childcare in RI and his involvement in some lobbying. A new author has circumvented the salting by introducing an article with a slightly misspelled name Nicolas Alahverdian. I was wondering if you have any guidance in this case? My initial reaction was a CSD, but given time has moved on and it appears there may be some lobbying done, this may require another look? The two related deletion discussions are Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alahverdian v. Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families, et al and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nicholas Alahverdian. Many thanks! Jake Brockman (talk) 10:47, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Hello,

Beginning in September 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Anti-harassment tool team will be conducting a survey to gauge how well tools, training, and information exists to assist English Wikipedia administrators in recognizing and mitigating things like sockpuppetry, vandalism, and harassment.

The survey should only take 5 minutes, and your individual response will not be made public. This survey will be integral for our team to determine how to better support administrators.

To take the survey sign up here and we will send you a link to the form.

We really appreciate your input!

Hi Kinu So if I request that the Giger site add the reference AND get consensus on the Giger article to mention this commercial then would this article be a keep ? Wakelamp d[@-@]b (talk) 11:53, 7 April 2018 (UTC)

  • If you feel that the consensus in the deletion discussion was not properly assessed or if additional sources have become available since then to suggest that notability criteria are now met, you are welcome to take the issue to deletion review. Nonetheless, I believe that the consensus was apparent in this case, in that the information presented about the commercial of which you speak was deemed by the other !voters to be inadequate to establish (or support) notability, and that their !votes to delete were based on stronger applications of policies and guidelines than any put forth by those !voting to keep. --Kinu t/c 03:06, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the information. I mainly do minor edits, but I am trying to learn the world of page creation. My questions are. How can I minimise wasting time adding content to an article that will probably get deleted ? Also if I did the above (if I request that the Giger site add the reference AND get consensus on the Giger article to mention this commercial then would this article be a keep ? ) and managed yo get consensus that acting notability included commercials would that have worked ?Wakelamp d[@-@]b (talk) 14:09, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello from a fellow Roadrunner!

Kinu, this semester the UTSA library is working with two History faculty members on Wikipedia class projects. Students in two classes (Historical Methods, History of San Antonio) will be given assignments to write research papers on notable women who had/have a connection to San Antonio. We're planning a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on November 10, where interested students (these are undergrads) will bring their research papers and will receive help creating basic articles or improving existing articles. Do you have any advice for us, or would you be interested in working with us in some way? Cheers, Kemphem (talk) 23:19, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

The Cambium Networks Wikipedia page was removed due to disruptive editing in 2016. I fully understand the reason, and apologize for this activity now 2½ years ago. Over that time, our company has changed and there are more citations available. I ask for your reconsideration for us to have a presence on Wikipedia. Cambium Networks will abide by the rules.

We would like to be able to professionally share information with readers who are seeking the details on our company. Here are some recent stories that may qualify Cambium Networks for a page: • Being selected by Facebook as a partner for their Express WiFi program • Providing WiFi connectivity to rescue teams in the Thailand Cave Rescue project

I appreciate your consideration to have an administrator unblock the page. We will provide a quality page with a neutral, well-cited content. We will abide by the rules. If a conversation with our CEO Atul Bhatnagar would be helpful, I am glad to set this up.

Why I listed it as vandalism
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

Thank you for blocking Boogily. I can see why at first glance this might not be obvious vandalism, which is why I originally did not call it this in my edit summaries until recently, so just to clarify;

1) Per the school website, the currently listed principal is correct and there is no need to change it

2) They are purposely spelling the school's name wrong

3) The changes they are making to enrollment are not backed by reliable sources

4) Most importantly for me, their list of notable faculty is just...trash for lack of a better word. For example, "Steve Rabinowitz - One of the humanities teachers, Steve is easily recognizable by his appearance. Many of the students have noted that he looks irritably like Jesus. One of his talents include him being able to respell his last name as Rainbow Zit."

As well, I have been recently harassed by students from this school [1] and the page history is full of IPs and new accounts vandalizing this page (like this IP for example, which made the same edits this "new" account is making) so I am being watchful of this. Hey, thanks for this, but any idea if we can find out who it was?

Of the people I pinged, almost all are "in good standing" and unlikely to create a sock account that could be tied to them by CU, Dream Focus (talk · contribs) already knows I'm on to him as I've explicitly stated that I'm convinced the original Malaysian IP was him[2][3] and so if it were the same person and that person was DF they'd have to know there was no way they could get away with it, and of the ones that are blocked (or were placed under a limited ban and left the project, or were clearly only trolling to begin with, got away with it for a few months, then got bored and left) there's basically Brough87 (talk · contribs), C. W. Gilmore (talk · contribs), Expectant of Light (talk · contribs) and JohnWickTwo (talk · contribs).

B87, CWG and JWT are all stale for CU purposes, as is EoL but the latter is almost certainly still active under a new account, which Kmakers could be used to catch.

@Kinu: Hi, I would like for you to undo the reversion you did on your part. As I understand I should not have reverted 3 times (though I believe I fall under the exceptions to that rule due to vandalism), the 3RR rule was first broken by JJMC89. On top of which he has been breaking several other rules (such as posting generic templates on my talk page) and has been known to vandalize. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheFixerUpper12 (talkcontribs)

You inserted this material four times; that violates WP:3RR and I see no exception because you were not reverting vandalism. On the other hand, you were reverted exactly three times by that editor (the fourth time was by me), and you reported that editor with a false report at WP:AIV. Most of your edits are attempts to insert this material. Take it to the talk page or you will find yourself blocked for disruptive editing. --Kinu t/c 03:48, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Hello Kinu of Wikipedia. This is Danny Seigle again. For the record, (which i have stated in the help page already), My job position in Alab Pilipinas is Team Consultant (not assistant coach). I am making these corrections to ensure the information on my page is current, accurate and factual. Kindly acknowledge my edits and Please revert it back to my corrections. Anything that says "assistant coach" needs to be corrected to "Team Consultant".I have tried several times to explain via reps and myself why these edits are being done. Someone keeps editing my changes back to assistant coach which is false. I have never been an assistant coach for any team. What do i need to do to prove that I am a CONSULTANT and Not An Assistant coach? I hope that we can resolve this matter as soon as possible. Should you wish to verify my info, you may check the profile page on my twitter & instagram accounts(@dannyseigle42) wc state my job title. Further can i request to be unblocked. Here are three articles links from different publications as proof of my correct job title. I hope you find this sufficient enough, and can immediately revert my edits. So to clarify, anything that says assistant coach please change it to Team Consultant. The discrepancy is written in my page five times.

In addition "I led San Miguel to 7 championships (not 6) out of 8", this error is found in the first paragraph.

Respectfully,

Hi Kinu,

I have made all the changes mentioned. Then why did you delete my page? I welcome suggestions on what needs to be done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ImeandYasir (talkcontribs) 08:22, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

  • I did not delete that page; rather, I moved it back to the Draft namespace. As indicated on your talk page, it is evident that the content does not meet the standard for something in the Article namespace. Several other editors appear to have given you suggestions, but you seemed to ignore those and instead repeatedly moved it back there, which is disruptive. Hence, it was deleted (by another administrator) and you are now blocked. If you are able to convince another administrator that you deserve to be unblocked, working a little more collaboratively would be in everyone's best interest. --Kinu t/c 16:30, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of Malcolm Kendrick page

Greetings — I strongly object to this deletion and subsequent locking of the subject; not only was the initial page deleted against the objections of a goodly number of people, my stated reasons for arguing against the deletion of the new entry were simply not addressed. There are many, many pages that ought to be expunged from Wikipedia if this one has been — true consistency is sorely lacking on this site, and the actual processes that lie behind actions such as these are veiled from public sunlight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rekleov (talkcontribs)

Recreating pages that were deleted via community consensus, especially after such a short time, is disruptive. Also, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a valid argument in a deletion discussion, nor is it a proper rationale for undoing the deletion of an article. Deletion review is thataway, but given the canvassing and meatpuppetry that characterized the original discussion, I'd make sure to build a fairly solid argument as to where guidelines and policies were breached first. --Kinu t/c 20:32, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Right now there is an article at Delta Psi Chi Swordsmen that in my opinion should be moved to Delta Psi Chi which was blocked back in 2011. I thought I'd reach out to you first before trying things more formally. Note, if you think it should be deleted instead, feel free to RFD it.Naraht (talk) 14:50, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay in responding... busy few days. It looks like this was created by the same author as the original at this location to avoid the salting. I don't see any notability, but I'll do a little more WP:BEFORE. If I find some sources of value, I'll do the move, but if not, I'll likely nominate for deletion. The Cambium Networks Wikipedia page was removed due to disruptive editing in 2016. I fully understand the reason and apologize for this activity now 3 years ago. Over that time, our company has changed and there are more citations available, including our partnership with Facebook XWF and the Terragraph system. Our Massive MU-MIMO technology is delivering 5G performance in fixed wireless broadband. I ask for your reconsideration for us to have a presence on Wikipedia. We would like to be able to professionally share information with readers who are seeking the details of our company.

I appreciate your consideration to have an administrator unblock the page. We will provide a quality page with neutral, well-cited content. We will abide by the rules. Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:04, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

I have already talked to the Tea House and the person who submitted my article for deletion. They both told me to come to you, the person who deleted my article. I created an article about a company called GO Technologies. After I created it, I received a notification on my talk page that the article had been deleted because it was "advertising". I did not mean for the article to come across as advertising, and I don't believe it did. The article was small, but I intended to add more to it later. If you can please tell me which part of the article you deemed as promotional, I would be thankful. If I knew which part you did not approve of i could remove/reword it so that my article might be accepted. Thank you for taking the time to read the lengthy message. Please consider helping me with my problem as this is my first article.

Teddington School. Reference 14 does not support the statement that the executive head teacher was suspended and then dismissed.
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

The newspaper article at reference 14 only talks about stakeholder reaction to the RI Ofsted decision immediately after publication in February 2018.

The above quote is a misrepresentation. John Wilkinson went on long term sick leave the day after the 2 day Ofsted Inspection finished. He eventually resigned his post as Executive Head teacher in August 2018. He was not suspended or dismissed. Unfortunately I cannot cite anything to back this up as the resignation agreement is a contract bound by confidentiality, negotiated through solicitors and the ESFA which contains sensitive information (ie the terms of settlement). I am the Chair of governors who negotiated it.

Kathy Pacey was appointed as the new head teacher of Teddington School in October 2018.

Teddington School joined the Bourne Education Trust on 1st December 2019. https://www.bourne.education/432/our-current-schools/academy/25/teddington-school

I don't have a reference for the date she was appointed, as the Teddington School website was replaced shortly before we joined the trust.

Kind regards,

Hello! Given your declared conflict of interest, I recommend suggesting changes to the article on the talk page of the article in question, located at Talk:Teddington School, rather than making the edits directly. Please note that information must be reported in reliable sources to be suitable for inclusion; as such, any information you claim to know firsthand and/or is bound to a confidentiality agreement would not be appropriate here. --Kinu t/c 19:20, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Natively Bantu-speaking indigenous South Africans is a general definition. The article didn't give birth to itself so I don't understand what you mean when you say I'm changing things to how I want them. There was an agreement that starting the article with Natively Bantu-speaking indigenous South Africans will make it better, due to elaborating the complexes of the title. Not everyone reading Wikipedia is the same person and Natively Bantu-speaking indigenous South Africans is a smart elaboration to breaking down the article's title. This reasoning of blocking me for making the article better can be applied to that opponent of mine, and looking at the context Natively Bantu-speaking indigenous South Africans is not out of context to the the article, so what exactly will be penalized, the person in a war with me just dislikes that I'm correct and convincing them with their own understanding. Untrammeled (talk) 17:52, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

There was no "agreement that starting the article with Natively Bantu-speaking indigenous South Africans will make it better". I have told you repeatedly that that phrase works fine as a definition or explanation of the term "Bantu peoples", but it is not a construction that is or should be used in running text. --Khajidha (talk) 18:04, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
  • Since you've chosen to reply here, I will do the same. This is not a constructive edit. We don't just randomly insert pseudo-definitions into text like that. It violates the manual of style and is not a proper method of including something in prose. Also, I agree with the other editors in that many of the changes you have made to the article are poorly written in terms of grammar and cohesion. Given the numerous move requests and other seemingly tangential discussion at the article's talk page, determining what the actual consensus is on the inclusion of your phrasing, if any, is beyond confusing, but I see no indication that such a consensus exists. I have restored the article to the status quo ante in the meantime. --Kinu t/c 18:06, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages now require direct sources for additions. For details see the content guideline, the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide or the edit notice on any DOY page. Please do not add new additions to these pages without direct sources as the burden to provide them is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you. Today I noticed a new account, SoSoMorning (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), editing in the same topic areas. On the one hand, they reverted some of Untrammeled's edits.[5] On the other, they show some of the same awkward grammar and wording.[6] Do you think this is just coincidence? —C.Fred (talk) 15:51, 19 December 2019 (UTC)

Interesting... they also seem to be overusing the minor edit flag, which is something you had pointed out about Untrammeled before. It might be nothing, but there's probably enough to justify a report at WP:SPI. --Kinu t/c 16:29, 19 December 2019 (UTC)

About the edit-warring on U.S. Route 2 in Washington
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

I wonder Kinu, why do you think that my updates are not necessary. What started as a baseless accusation of vandalism/disruptive editing has now turned into a 3 month edit-war. Don't you see that semi-protection of yours only lasts 3-months which means that 3 months later unless the faction of warriors that I have been warring with have changed their minds it is destined to reignite. So basically you may be only prolonging the war and I know how you have done great contributions to Wikipedia and that has prized you with the power of being an admin. Though that may change if someone finds you responsible for prolonging the war. So many things can happen. Only another admin or the arbitration committee or Jimbo Wales can determine the consequences. But I must warn you that the consequences can be enormous you can get blocked from editing or you can even lose your privilege of being a admin. Maybe you should click the links I have edited myself and see if anything has changed. If it has then reflect that to the article otherwise leave the article as it was after the war happened. Remember about WP:SQS and WP:3RR because I am sure you have read many times but the next time look at the actual words and meaning about an admins role in this. You may have forgotten something. Wikipedia is neither politics nor is it about the person in power always being right even if they have done something wrong. Please read this message carefully and I would prefer you would keep it though removing this message is also okay as long as you have read if carefully and understood what I am trying to say. Reply in case you have something to say. I do not mean for it to be a personal attack. Though if I made a mistake please tell me. (2601:601:9980:5D80:ECCA:778E:3488:DBA (talk) 20:12, 27 January 2020 (UTC))

You say "unless the faction of warriors that I have been warring with have changed their minds [the edit war] is destined to reignite"... this sounds like an "I'm right and everyone else is wrong" type of statement, which carries zero weight around here. Based on comments from multiple editors on the talk page and the repeated reversions of your edits, the conclusion is that your edits are unnecessary. WP:SQS does not apply: there is an apparent consensus; the only problem here is that it's not what you want. There's nothing more to say, but since you enjoy linking to pages and lecturing people about policies (coupled with empty threats), I'll leave you to read WP:FORUMSHOPPING, WP:BATTLEGROUND, WP:STICK, and WP:LAME. --Kinu t/c 21:12, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
Sorry but the past comments does not appear to have a consensus. Plus I will say this that there were 2 other users that tried to voice my opinion. So even if you say there is a consensus. There really is not. IP 2604:2000:8FC0:4:617F:E9A7:AF1C:4546 told me that if the silence lasted for a long time then it would be WP:SQS. Simply put the faction that I mentioned only warred because they either did not look at my edits close enough or simply because they chose to. Again I will say that abusing the position of admin can be very detrimental to the project. If I were you I would have kept the page fully-protected at the version the page was after the war for a indefinite period of time and allow discussions and consensus before allowing editing by non-admins to resume. Though also try to avoid a wheel-war while you were at that. You might want to try to ask the arbitration committee for advice if you wish to find out whether under that community these edits are valid. Also just because an edit was unnecessary does not always mean it is disruptive and/or vandalism and in fact may be a neutral contribution to Wikipedia as long as it does not violate an established policy. Wikipedia policy never mentions how links are supposed to be update as long as they are verifiable, dates are correct and is a reliable source. But if you do see something that says that please let me know but if it is not policy then this is not good enough of an argument. (2601:601:9980:5D80:E5B0:B824:4B35:9D0E (talk) 22:03, 27 January 2020 (UTC))
I think we're done here. "Again I will say that abusing the position of admin can be very detrimental to the project." If you can't articulate an argument for your position without resulting to asinine, thinly-veiled threats, please stay off my talk page. --Kinu t/c 22:23, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
No personal attacks. Saying that my comments are "asinine" does not help. Making personal attacks can be grounds for being blocked from editing by another admin. Repeated personal attacks can also result in de-admin-ship if they are persistent. My comments are warnings not threats. I would besides never make legal threats or anything like that.
