I am not vandalising the page. I am trying to put true information onto a Wikipedia page. I have included photo's and a reference. On the other hand I searched on several other News papers and portals, this "news" has not been published anywhere. Surrey cricketers

Doing a Google search on Stewart Storey, I stumbled upon User:Jpeeling/Surrey cricketers. It looks as though we may be working on similar lines. I've been working on creating articles for all Surrey players with over 10,000 runs, 500 wickets or 200 wicketkeeping dismissals, and Storey is the last one on that list who still needs to be done. After that, I'm intending to do those 19th century Surrey captains who are lacking an article (all 20th century ones now have articles). After that, I hope to do other Surrey plaers with 100+ appearances for the county who don't yet have articles - unless you get there first. :) See the "To Do" list on my User page. I have a book (Cricket: Stars of Today) which contains a 12-page piece by Louis Duffus on Graeme Pollock and he offers a full explanation: The name [Little Dog] arose when his brother, with voice still unbroken, made queer-sounding appeals for l.b.w. The humorist, Springbox Atholl McKinnon, said they sounded like a dog barking, and called him 'Pooch'. 8-ball overs

When was the change from 8- to 6-ball overs in ODIs made? I had no idea they were originally 8-ball overs, and now knowing this I think it may be better to have "balls" as a section heading instead over "overs" (I'd changed it because deliveries isn't how you'd tell someone how you've bowled, you say 10 overs instead of 60 balls). And since we're searching for consistency across articles, all of them should probably be changed... Damn, I wish I'd thought of that before I went round changing them. I'm not sure there was a clear dividing line between 8-ball and 6-ball overs, the first ever ODI was certainly a 8-ball one and a fair number of those in the 1970s. There's this which offers some details, I'll check Statsguru and see whether I can find more accurate details. Given the differing number of balls per over I guess "balls" is a better heading, why I didn't think of that when I started editing IDK. --Jpeeling (talk) 20:51, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

That link was better than I gave credit for. The last 8-ball over ODI was on England's tour of Australian in 1978-79, the matches until that date had been a mixture of both formats depending on the host country. Matches in England (including the first WC) have always been 6, in Australia 8 up to 1978-79, in NZ 8 up to 1975-76, in Pakistan 8 up to 1977-78, West Indies have always been 6, India have always been 6 (they first hosted an ODI in Nov 1981!). --Jpeeling (talk) 21:17, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Hopper Levett

Hello. The reason I used the photo of the oil painting was to give the reader of what is a general, non-specific encyclopedia site some sense of the colour and excitement of the game. My first choice would be an individual portrait of Hopper by himself or a team photo. The Kent County Cricket Club page has nothing there. Cricinfo has a single photo of Hopper, which they credit to the Kent County Cricket Club. Do you know perhaps if such a photo is within the public domain, and if so, where it might be gotten? Being an editor who has tracked the Sledging (cricket) page for some time, I must add that I am fully supportive of Jpeeling's reversions. I encourage LessHeard vanU to review the tidy-up to the article contained in this 2 November 2008 edit by BlackJack where numerous unsourced POV was removed. It appears to me that what the ip editor had done is to largely reinstate portions of BlackJack's historic clean-up and somewhat oddly retained all the requests for proper citations that had rendered the original piece WP:OR. Once again it would be helpful if LessHeard vanU could consider the article's history and refrain from further over-zealous wrist-slapping (however well-intentioned).
