Speedy deletion of Collectible Automobile (magazine)

A tag has been placed on Collectible Automobile (magazine) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Collectible Automobile (magazine)

Hello, Josephw. While I was not involved at any point in the deletion of this particular article, I noticed your comment on the userpage of the editor who originally tagged it and thought I might be able to help clarify. (I'm watching his page in case he chooses to reply to a note I've left him myself.) The article was originally tagged for deletion under WP:CSD#A7, but this criterion does not apply to magazines. I see in the deleted history that the tag was subsequently changed to WP:CSD#G11 by administrator hbdragon. This label is used to tag articles that are perceived as strictly promotional in nature, ones that would have to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic. That administrator left the tag for a second administrator's concurrence, and the article was deleted several hours later by Jauerback under that criterion.

If you wish to pursue the article further, there are several avenues open to you. You can approach the deleting administrator and ask that he restore the article if you believe it was unduly deleted. (If he disagrees and you feel strongly that the community would support your perception, you can go to deletion review to test that assumption.) You can approach an administrator who is in Category:Wikipedia administrators who will provide copies of deleted articles to request that the deleted text be moved to your user space so that you can edit it to bring it inline with policy before restoring it. You can start the article from scratch.

I suspect, given the state of the article at the time it was deleted, that it would not pass deletion review. Phrases like "a benchmark of excellence among automobile magazines" can only be used if they can be cited to a source, and there are a number of such unsubstantiated claims in the article. However, if sources can be added to verify its notability, there's no reason it could not be revised to eliminate promotional language.

Regardless of the process you choose to pursue, you may want to read the neutrality policy to help guide you in bringing the article to standards. You should also review the notability guidelines. Although magazine articles can't be speedily deleted for lack of notability, they may be deleted by other processes if they do not verify their notability with reliable secondary sources. Primary sources alone cannot be used to verify notability.

I hope that this reply is of some use to you, and if I have wikilinked to a policy you know like the back of your hand, please forgive me. :) I've discovered that it's better to overexplain than to underexplain after having created greater confusion in the past by leaning the other way. If I have failed to be clear this time, please tell me, and I'll happily expand. First thing to do is probably to clean the article of promotional language. That way, if you do show it to the editor, he'll see it in more Wikipedia form. He may know if the magazine has received the kind of press coverage required; that seems a good idea. :) Good luck with it. Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:1967 Buick SportWagon.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:1967 Buick Sport Wagon.jpg. Here's what happened. The first time I tried to upload the image, all I got was a big red blank. Then I went back and noticed that I had not entered the jpg image name in the proper space, so I figured I could correct my error simply by typing the name there and uploading again, but that didn't work. No photo image came up, just another big red blank. Then after trying it the third time, I finally made a slight adjustment to the image name ("SportWagon", with no space) and uploaded again, this time successfully, and it has been installed (along with another photo of a 1971 model) into the Buick Sport Wagon article. Hope this explains everything.

So by all means, go ahead and delete all those big red blanks. I don't think there's any use for them!

Pontiac Grand Ville

Saves List

Hi, I've noticed that you've been editing the List of Major League Baseball all-time saves leaders. Please note that "real-time" editing of the page should not be the standard practice, and that the page is updated to "the start of play," meaning they shouldn't be updated more than once a day.
