Standardized tag for redundant images edit

There is a standardized tag for requesting speedy deletions of redundant images. It is {{Redundant image|NewImageName.ext}}, where NewImageName.ext is the name of the image that you are referencing as the other copy, without any Image: prefix. This tag is quicker, and probably easier on the admins because they might have tools that automate the generation of deletion summaries which are required when deleting anything. I may be wrong on whether or not they have any tools like this, because I am not an admin. However, they do prefer that users use the standardized tags if possible. "Wimple" & "Wimpel" edit

Hi Jon and Gutt Voch!: You have expertise in Halachik perspectives, could you please take a look at a new article: Wimpel created by User:Rabbi-m it strikes me as being written somewhat "tongue in cheek", and should perhaps be re-directed to another article. Thanks, IZAK 09:41, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

TfD edit

As I noted at the TfD for Template:Age, I certainly agree with you apropos of the propriety of our including such mutable (and, frankly, unencyclopedic) details such as age, but I am convinced that the community approves of such inclusion, notwithstanding the very sound objections otherwise raised, and so I undertook at TfD only to analyze the template in the context of its encyclopedic value, assuming arguendo that the community had conferred the appellative encyclopedic onto the purposes for which the template exists. I think, though, that the issue you, inter al., raise is an important one, and I'd surely approve of our raising it elsewhere, if only because the justification offered at Template talk:Age that this template will help you satisfy your curiosity...[to know] how old your favorite child actor is is, though logical, altogether unencyclopedic. Sukkah (tractate) edit

I felt that Sukkah (Talmud) would be the better place for that page, since it seems to me that "tractate" is an outmoded word which most people do not know, whereas "Talmud" would be more informative, to let people know what the topic is. --Eliyak 19:09, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

You wrote:
I wanted it to be consistent with Sanhedrin (tractate) and Avodah Zarah (tractate). Frankly I perfer tractate, but it is much more important to be that it be consistent than anything else. Jon513 19:20, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
There is also Rosh Hashanah (Talmud), so something will have to be changed either way. Since I'm planning on introducing articles for at least the major mesekhtot, I was going to use (Talmud) as the standard. (for Shabbat, Megillah, and any others where it's necessary)

Why? edit

David Babineau edit

I respect your opinion on this matter and your feeling towards deleting any refrence regarding him. It seems to me that by listing his companions that were kidnapped, but not listing something about him, is leaving the story incomplete. He was the supervisor on the Humvee (higher rank) and died trying to prevent them from being kidnapped (as well as himself).

Thanks

Response to question of warning template used edit

Hmm, I didn't see the anti-semitic comment - I just saw two autobiographies (both have been speedy deleted), maybe I missed another article, although normally when I see an editor misbehave I check their entire contribution history to see if there are other problems that haven't been spotted yet. I also try to start with the most gentle warning appropriate - if I had seen something anti-semitic though, I agree a stronger warning would have been in order. Thanks btw, cute joke on your user page ... I fell for it :-) Brian 18:43, 16 July 2006 (UTC)btballReply

Strange use of the stub template edit

I am working on a rather long and detailed article about Ruíz, Nayarit in Mexico, and I noticed that you visited the page and placed a stub template there. Did you actually look at the page before doing so? The article was never a stub even in the beginning and will not be so. If you want to look at pages that have no reason even for existing please see Rosamorada. It is strange that no one has even seen that these pages are not even close to Wikipedia standards. Please don't place stub templates on pages when there are over ten paragraphs already written. The page is being worked on as I write and will only be completed in the next hours. Hello and welcome, Jon513!! I noticed you posted on my talk page that the article Erica Chevillar (which i created) is nonsense, now you and i can both agree that is at least somewhat exaggerated, so i would greatly appreciate it if you will remove the tag you placed on the article as soon as you can. Template:Mishneh Torah edit

I'd say my ultimate objective is to have articles for every section of the Mishneh Torah, but that's quite far off for obvious reasons (14 books later...). My rationale is pretty much the same as the rationale for having an article on every tractate of the Talmud or every book of the Tanakh. There is a lot of text and Wikipedia could benefit by having articles on the different sections of it, in my opinion. In either case, I think the Mishneh Torah article itself needs some editting done. Kari Hazzard (T | C) 18:30, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion again edit

Regarding the article Corner Pocket, which you tagged for speedy deletion with the reason "does not assert notability", I wanted you to know that I have removed the speedy deletion tag. This article does not qualify for speedy deletion because "does not assert notability" is only a criterion for speedy deletion for articles about people, groups of people, clubs, and bands. This is an article about a comic. If you still want the article to be deleted, please use the WP:AFD process. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 22:52, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Birmingham edit

I'm afraid I disagree with your comment at User talk:Siper101, that Wikipedia has a full list of all the districts in Birmingham: the eleven district committee areas divide the city up but there are still plenty of well-known, notable places that also deserve articles. Admittedly the article that was created was not all that great, but it should have been listed for cleanup rather than deletion. Remember WP:BITE! --RFBailey 16:45, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It depends on your definition of "district". The city council has used the word for its formal subdivisions, which divide the city into 11 parts. However, the term is often used more loosely to mean a suburb or an area of the city, such as Kings Heath, Handsworth, Kingstanding or Moseley. --RFBailey 17:05, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
