Naming edit
Jjok; I was hoping you might stop by the Port Hamilton page and make some comments on the naming issue there. Several authors seem to admit is the most standard name in English. Nonetheless, they are persisting in claims that "since Korea owns the islands, it should be named in Korean." Being from Korea myself, I know there are a lot of name issues that I really do care about, and I think it's important to stick to this "common usage" policy everywhere. I'd like to get some editors opinions who are interested in naming in general, but not necessarily that page. This island is a rather unnotable place that had a base on it, and always appears in that context. There are some ambiguity concerns, but these happen for several of the choices (the Korean name itself, for example) and does not currently conflict with any other articles.
I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at this page if you have time. You seem to have a lot of interest in naming issues. While I have one opinion on the name, I encourage you to read over the discussion so far and make up your mind. I want to leave this message because I think there are a few hawks who watch the article and try to "gang up" when the rest of the community might not otherwise notice a small article like this. - Thank you for your notice and your great summarization of those survey results. My basic opinion is the current title is POV according to the documents thus it is appropriate to put the POV title tag based on the fact and to notice users that the POV title can be chosen in WP though WP is not authorizing the POV, that the Korea Times article implies, but I was not expecting for RM by doing that. Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Dog meat. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Even though your contributions seem not pleasant to Koreans, I had thought you at least tried to stick to original references, but you don't. In accordance with your contributions on Korean related articles such as Prostitution in South Korea, dog meat section at Korean cuisine, Comfort women etc, you seem to read Korean language. However, you appear to be not much knowledgeable of Korean cuisine due to your falsification on the duruchigi and jeongol at the dog meat article. So I recommend you to read Korean cuisine articles over the web to learn how Korean cuisine terms are used. You have some good knowledge of Japanese cuisine, so can get the new information quickly. - Thank you for your comment. I was also considering to use the general cuisine terms when I was editing based on Prof. Ahn's site. I added 'gae-' to clarify that they are dog meat-jeongol and dog meat-duruchigi. If you know other appropriate names for those dog meat based dishes, please feel free to change them. According to Prof. Ahn, there is a Dogmeat hamburger restaurant in Korea (see the citation) while I am not sure it/they still exist while it is not very important since the reference describes so. About other articles, I do not have your points at all. At least I think I never edited dog meat section at Korean cuisine, did I? - You certainly didn't edit "with the account" but suddenly appeared in the middle of the discussion out of nowhere. I don't know why you called your account with "the conspicuous name". The Prof, Ahn is regarded as "별종" (peculiar geek or otaku) in South Korea. The reference is not reliable or widely accepted as a well written resource at all. The individual's eager to try making "new" kinds of food doesn't prove your claim. Well, you didn't put the prefix "gae" to the dishes which leads false info. And I looked through the past history of the dog meat and others in which you've engaged, you inserted popular dishes at the Korean section which is a blatant lie. If dog hambouger exists in South Korea, it might be published as a "weird" topic.
- Regarding your claims on the edit summary, you don't always summarize your edit when to make controversial articles. The prostitution in South Korea article, you added "Kisaeng diplomacy" with a bogus citation long time ago. - I fix your wrong usage of the term. Did you born before 1930s or 1920s in Korea, and then betrayed Korea to aid the Japanese government? If so, you're chinilpa, but you're a Japanese and I don't think you're that old. Don't introduce "false information." to people. What is VANK? what is the lobbying conspiracy? Please don't exaggerate the case to unconfirmed case.

- Chinil is not a historical term at all but a fundamental and important aspect in current Korean society. You may also have heard a term neo-chinilpa (신친일파).[1] I summarized the modern references in the Talk:Chinilpa. A chief editor in politics of Chosun Ilbo defines chinilpa as "친일파는 우리나라와 일본이 싸울 때 일본 편을 드는 사람이다,"[2] and I never find any cases that chinil acts is allowable in the society. Anti-chinil is a definitely rightful thing and frequently used to rationalize people's acts, such as you filed many chinil editors who did not seem having any connections to the edit wars, while you may be not aware by yourself. It is also apparent from your careless revert based on who edited rather than what was edited (you can clearly see in my edit summary as "rm a duplication").[3]--Jjok (talk) 21:09, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Chinil is a histroical term, and you appear to be not much knowledgeable of Korean society, and history. (sigh). The references you provide are all speaking about "Koreans" doing for pro-Japanese activities. If someone who knows well about Japanese culture or society and contribute to Korean society in a good way, he or she is called "Jiilpa" (지일파 知日派). They advocate goodness of Japanese things to Korea. Their activities are regarded as good effect for the both countries. But chinila only indicates people who are doing against Korea for their sake, just like Oh Seon Hwa (오선화). Are you residing in Korean now? And you're keeping saying false info. No, I encountered Koonjlee and his is trusted editor in Korean cuisine articles. I reverted it with much care. - I am grad that we now share recognition that we are not necessary to be born before 1930 to be recognized as chinilpa. As you mentioned, "Koreans doing for pro-Japanese activities" can be designated as chinilpa and criticized even they were born after 1930. As you mentioned, people use Jiilpa to avoid to be recognized as chinilpa and it reflects the view on "pro-Japan" in the society you belong. It is bad bad thing. As we can learn from Cho Youngnam's case, visiting yasukuni shrine is enough reason to be designated as chinilpa and criticized. Politicians who do not enough criticize Japan about the past can be criticized as chinilpa[4][5] because people think they are siding with Japanese as Chosun Ilbo pointed out. People can be designated as chinilpa anytime when they behave like pro-Japan. It is not necessary to be political or historical as Chosun Ilbo pointed out. And it looks like a private organization because of the internet domain (Every governmental site has "go.ko" in the adress). Are you saying that the site is operated by Korean government?

We don't know whether it was really taken by you due to lack of information. It seems to be taken in any English-speaking world, especially North America, but I'm not sure of it. One question, a couple of comments:
Yokohama zaijū no shashinka Tokiwa Toyoko san does indeed look like a newspaper article. But how do you know that it's from 毎日新聞? I don't notice this information anywhere. (I am sleepy though.)
I have mixed feelings about red links. If they encourage writers to create articles, fine. But they are hideous. Therefore I don't add them (and I actually subtract them) if I don't think an article is likely any time soon.
Incidentally, a month or so ago 日本カメラ (or maybe アサヒカメラ) had a little feature on 笹本恒子, now in her nineties and still taking photographs. She deserves a decent article, but I can't afford the time in the next few weeks. -- Hoary (talk) 02:58, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- I googled the text[9] which lead me to several links including Mainichi Shimbun's dead link[10] and cache of Fresheye[11]. I think it will be more verifiable to locate the (possibly) printed materials than just linking to websites. By the way, hpdesign.jp is not Hewlett Packard but a web designing company (an abbreviation of home page design, I guess) in Yokohama, 朝倉デザイン工房.
- Talking about the red links, it is convenient for me to emphasize/identify proper names/terms and sometimes it actually prompts me.
- I am not familiar with photographers at all and can only add some bios which are available online. I think you can get far better helps by consulting people such as ja:利用者:20世紀(前半)美術 (User:20th Century (Zenhan) Art) who still seems active in jawp (I just noticed that you have already been reactivating the connection with Zenhan san).
