Editor of the Week : nominations needed!

The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.

The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?

Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

Wiki Loves Pride 2016

As a participant of WikiProject LGBT studies, you are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?

 1. Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
 2. Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
 3. Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Looking for topics? The Tasks page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.

This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:09, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

CarrierIQ

Hi,

Nice to meet you!

Couple of developments in Tandem:

a) I contacted you because you were on the talkpage at Carrier IQ b) CarrierIQ has dissolved c) But its main technicians and internal knowhow havebeen bought off by AT&T d) The best part... AT&T unlike Verizon or Sprint or VirginMobile or whathaveyou has its own database for the US government (i can add more on this later if you notify or ask me)

Can you update the page with the new information. Here is the article about AT&T: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/01/05/att_carrier_iq_deal/

Also, on the talkpage you were cited on you and others were speculating if CarrierIQ had done something wrong. Well, according to the courts guilt had been identified: CarrierIQ settles $9million class action lawsuit

My name is Faz. Rahman1708 (talk) 06:04, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

That was 5 years ago. My knowledge on the matter is very stale now. I'm also semi-retired Faz. Thanks for bringing it to my attention but i doubt i'll be much use. Thanks Jenova20 (email) 09:36, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

It doesn't look like my input will be necessary, based on the way the AFD is going. Thanks anyway Jenova20 (email) 18:57, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

Custom signature fix needed

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error, specifically formatting tags that are in the wrong order.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
 1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
 2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
 3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
 4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
 1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
 2. Change the signature as shown below, or make other edits to make the signature appear how you want it to appear.
 3. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Current signature:
ツ <span style="background:pink"><span style="color:crimson; font-family:comic sans ms">Jenova</span><span style="color:red">20</span></span> (email)

Fixed signature:
ツ <span style="background:pink"><span style="color:crimson; font-family:comic sans ms">Jenova</span></span><span style="color:red">20</span> (email)

More information is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:41, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

I'm really rusty, so thanks for posting a fix. I'd spent about 10 minutes trying to fix it unsuccessfully before combining my attempt with your fix.
