FYI, ex officio is the correct term to use to describe why the VP is President of the Senate. It means that VP is the President of the Senate because of (ex) the office (officio) held, in the same way that the President of the Republic of France is prince of Andorra. See wikt:ex officio. The article is about the office, not the job title. "Vice President of the United States" is a proper noun and is therefore capitalized. The MOS example of when it's capitalized is "Richard Nixon was President of the United States." JTRH (talk) 02:21, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

No, JOBTITLES says to uncapitalize when preceded by a modifier, including a definite article. The English language has only one definite article, "the". The closest example is "Richard Nixon was the president of the United States." Thus, the two MOS-compliant options were to remove the "The" or decap Vice President, and I went with the former to maintain the match with the article title. ―Mandruss ☎ 02:36, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
