Template:GNIS edit

Hi — I just wanted to let you know about {{gnis}}. When you're citing the GNIS, as you did with Strunk, Kentucky, please don't copy/paste the URL of the entry; as you can see at their FAQ page, the pages are dynamically generated, so you can't count on a later reader being able to use your reference. {{gnis}} removes all the dynamically generated portion of the URL and formats the link in a much nicer manner. Thanks for your contributions! Nyttend (talk) 22:35, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Eastern Mountain Coal Fields edit

I appreciate the inivation to the task force and I am considering joining. I really enjoy working on state parks. Lately I've been trying to get a DYK for all 50 states. Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park is hopefully going to be mine DYK for Kentucky. I just may "stay in Kentucky" for awhile. Dincher (talk) 19:00, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your help! edit

I've noticed some tidying up you have done on some of my articles (Pound Gap), and just wanted to thank you! I'm new at wikipedia entries and I haven't yet figured out how to do everything as well put together as you do. I tried to figure it out and I get cite errors so I just do the basics for now. I have some pictures (of my own) to put up but I haven't yet figured out how to do that. Anyways, I really just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your help.

Move population table edit

{{helpme}} Is there any way to move a table, such as the one shown, to the left side of the page?

Historical population
CensusPop.Note
1970168
1980358113.1%
1990271−24.3%
2000245−9.6%
2009 (est.)259
One way is to use <div style="float:left;">page element</div>
Like so:
Historical population
CensusPop.Note
1970168
1980358113.1%
1990271−24.3%
2000245−9.6%

Move the population table to the far left? edit

Is there any way to move the same table to the far left side of the page and not slightly to the left? Thanks!

It's to the far left for me. But add this code:

Public Domain? edit

I was wondering if some images from the Kentuckiana Digital Library were in the public domain and if they are acceptable for use on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Many of the images were created by the WPA and some were created prior to January 1, 1923. Below are links to sample images:

Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. If you have other suggestions or are interested in doing other things feel free. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions were additional help is needed. Speedy deletion nomination of File:PMC logo.png edit

A tag has been placed on File:PMC logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — The Hand That Feeds You:Bite 13:32, 18 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrolled edit

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 21:34, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Coal fields question edit

Hi- I LOVE coal towns, hence my user name, Coal town guy. I have joined the Eastern KY task force. I think I can help out a certain category issue here and of course as you created the project, I would love your feedback. IF you look at Mining Communitites in KY as a category, it is not very populated. IMO, and I stress IMO, the KY coal towns I have identified in the Coal towns category (640+ pages strong and growing) are a tad better identified for the singular reason that many coal towns, NOT just KY, were NOT mining communities in the definition provided here in Wiki.....I would very much like to help with the cdreation of a cat for KY coal towns, and of course WV coal towns etc etc. Let me know what you thinkCoal town guy (talk) 13:47, 5 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your continued membership in WikiProject Louisville! Our project is still alive and mildly kicking after over 9 years in operation. If by chance you're not up-to-date with what's going on in the project, here's some of the more recent goings-on:
  • We have over 6,100 articles included in the project and almost 17,000 pages (including talk pages) overall.
  • Our list of project tasks have been moved to a project subpage. This was done because the project's main page was getting rather long and perhaps difficult to digest. "One-stop shopping" for our project's tasks!
  • Our Membership department has been revamped. A lot of membership-related things have been clarified.
  • Did you know:

2019 US Banknote Contest edit

  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
