CSD edit

I will AfD it, but before I do, I would appreciate it if you pre-told me your vote and rationale, so we could try avoiding AfD. My position is, essentially, that chapters of fraternities, along with all other single-college student groups, are inherently NN. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 18:11, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am of the belief that if these groups can establish notability sufficient for any other article, they should be treated as any other article. That being said, I have refrained from voting at the AfD for MIT Assassins' Guild; while I am certain they are notable, I have no sources to back that belief up. Isopropyl 18:23, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, according to the LARP page, the Guild popularized the assassin game; perhaps that is notable enough? Isopropyl 18:26, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do you think we're being ridiculous? edit

I'd have to say yes. Trying to follow through with consensus has made most of us look foolish and is becoming a public mockery; it's embarassing that it's come to this, especially now since the page is just a blank that doesn't want to redirect anymore. This is the kind of stigma that falls on a lot of DBZ-type articles, and I'm ashamed to have been aparty of it. Still, I want to follow through with proper Wikiquette and procedures, humiiating as it's turned out to be.

I apologize for bringing you into it and dragging you down along with me. I'm very sorry. Voice of Treason 20:11, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

After clearing my cache I should probably leave it well enough alone at this point. Redirect works now. Hopefully this article will stay out of trouble the rest of the day. Voice of Treason 21:46, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Amen. Looking forward to forgetting about that particular article. Isopropyl 22:54, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

CrazyRussian's RfA edit

File:Motherussia.jpg Hello Isopropyl, and thank you for your support at my request for adminship, which ended with an awe-inspiring 86/1/2 result. I plan to do much with my shiny new tools - but I'll start slow and learn the ropes at first. Please deluge me with assignments and requests - I enjoy helping out. Quiz league to Pub quiz merger edit

These are different things and as such I think it isn't a good idea to merge. A Quiz league isn't a type of pub quiz, a lot of people do both, but they are quite distinct. Happy to discuss. Jw6aa 09:31, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am not really familiar with the subject, but the pre-merger diff of quiz league differed from pub quiz by a single paragraph, so I just merged it into the relevant section on league quizzes. I am not opposed to unmerging, but we should probably beef up the leage article a bit if we do. Thanks for bringing it up! Isopropyl 11:49, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

3RR edit

Thanks for the note. I was somewhat concerned about that, but the reverts haven't been simple back-and-forth of two versions. In the last revert, I re-added the counterpoint section, but also restored another section to a version that had been sourced via the ref tag. In any case, I'm going to give it a rest and let others chime in for awhile. OhNoitsJamie Talk 02:10, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Repeats edit

Hey, I wasn't refering to you when I mentioned "repeating myself;" I was referring to the editors who keep reverting back to old versions with little regard for points or suggestions made in the discussion. OhNoitsJamie Talk 00:26, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Alt. spellings edit

Hi- I've been trying to develop a fair, consistent way to deal with alternative spellings to help ease the Wikipedia Spelling Wars problem. (See end of this section: Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style#How_to_treat_spelling_conflicts_in_the_lead_paragraph.) In an article that has a word with various spellings and another word, my "or color..." solution might not be needed, but, we have to apply the same criteria to all articles, and try removing "or colour charge" from the "color charge" article and count the seconds until someone reverts you. I suggest we leave the "or" bit in all these articles.--Cultural Freedom 2006-07-16 08:59 (UTC)

Cookie dough edit

Yeah, I added the expand tag because this was suggested in the Wikipedia:Requests_for_expansion. Although that page suggests adding it to the talk page, and I added it to the article. --Xyzzyplugh 15:06, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, I've reread Wikipedia:Requests_for_expansion, and interestingly (to me), the top of the page seems to be suggesting using stub for short articles and expansion for long articles. However, "How to add a new listing" and the areas below that simply advise adding expansion. Perhaps a policy change didn't make its way to all parts of the page. --Xyzzyplugh 15:11, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

My Recall edit

What you cited was the rationale for not re-blocking as pointed out by me on AN/I. Perhaps that may change your mind. - CrazyRussian talk/email 16:02, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image of Aria Giovanni edit

The image of Aria Giovanni that was part of the Cleavage article that you justifiably rejected for GA status has been deleted. I'm not sure where to begin looking so I thought I'd ask for your help. Fair use concerns were discussed considerably before including this pic. Thanks.Ghosts&empties 17:56, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Slashdot edit

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. Quill E. Fall Out Boy Genre Capitalization edit

Okay, I'm not going to get into an edit war with you, but the edits you are making just don't make any sense. The genre has been that way for a long time, and people have agreed on it. You specify that the genre should be in all lower-case (which looks rediculous for one, and I haven't seen that on any other wikipedia page for second), you then point me to the genre page, in the genre pages, it capitalizes the genres, and I quote, "Pop punk," "Alternative rock," , and "Emo," Also, these pages are freely edited, so that does not make it the official capitalization of the genre either. So please explain your actions, instead of getting into edit wars with other editors. Thanks. --DieHard2k5 17:57, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are of course referring to the capitalization in the title of the articles, to which title case would normally apply. However, Wikipedia convention is to capitalize only proper nouns. In addition, due to technical restrictions, the first letter of an article must always be a capital letter. This explains the misconception that "pop" and "alternative" must be capitalized. If you check the alternative rock article, you will see that when the phrase is not capitalized when used midway through the first sentence.
I understand that you believe that the correct capitalization looks "rediculous", but you will find that the English language has many subtleties which appear nonsensical at first glance. If you have any further questions regarding capitalization, I will be happy to answer them on this talk page; otherwise, if it pleases you, I will correct the capitalization on the Fall Out Boy page. Isopropyl 20:19, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, my main issue with this was the fact that no other band pages, that I know of, use this formula, so It just looks out of place. If you truly believe that that is how it should be, then by all means. --DieHard2k5 22:45, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
It's probably best to be bold and fix those articles as we see them. Isopropyl 23:10, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry edit

Several users have expressed concern over my block nomination of several college a cappella groups. I would like to apologize for causing a medium-sized ruckus on the AFD page and thereby wasting the time of several excellent contributors. I see now that this was an ill choice for a block nomination. I'll be relisting most of the articles individually as soon as I can double check the list. Again, please accept my apologies. savidan(talk) (e@) 17:08, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
