The reason I deleted these is indeed because they were intended to promote. Promotional doesn't necessarily mean it's promoting a for-profit corporation—I've seen ad articles here for everything from charities to open-source software.

Here are some problematic parts out of these articles:

• "...offer a variety of affordable high quality instructional and administrative services..."
• "...help districts remain on the cutting edge of technology in education..."
• "...staffed by experienced professionals..."
• "...well-versed in and able to support a variety of technology platforms..."

None of these statements are whatsoever attributed to any type of reliable source which says any such thing. Nor are any secondary sources cited at all. Lacking that, they basically just appear to be glowing editorials. Whether or not it was your intent, and without intent on my part to cause any offense, the articles quite honestly looked like they could have come straight from the organizations' PR departments.

If there are secondary, independent sources which have covered these organizations, it still may be appropriate to have articles on them. (We do require that substantial amounts of material independent of the subject exist, sources published by the subject or those closely affiliated with it are not enough.) If such material does indeed exist, you are certainly welcome to write such an article. However, please remember to maintain a neutral tone, and not to put in your own experience, original synthesis, or opinion.

I see you did ask earlier regarding the difference between those. I apologize for not responding, I must have missed that among other messages. To answer the question , the Orange County Transportation article isn't in the best of shape, and very well could use some trivia and cruft cleanup. I've tagged it such and will try to do some work later today. That being said, however, the article does not editorialize or attempt to promote the agency (and even if it did, it would be likely the article could be reverted to an earlier version which did not). Also, the transportation article includes sections on problems and challenges, such as a contentious labor issue—not the type of thing one would expect to see in an ad article.

If you would like to rewrite the other article using more neutral language and reliable source material, that would likely be fine. However, if an article is promotional, and there is no neutral version to revert to, it is deleted. Third opinion request

Hi there! I see you posted a request at 3o for a third opinion at Talk:WCDB. It seems you were requesting an opinion about the tone of the anonymous user's comment about your grammar usage. While I agree that the user's comment was un-CIVIL and possibly close to NPA (and I left a message on the anon's talk page saying so), 3o isn't intended for that kind of judgment call. 3o is more intended for informal outside opinions on an ongoing dispute, typically a content dispute, between exactly two other editors. Your "complaint" may have been better served by going to WQA or even just talking to the editor directly -- there's nothing that says you can't post to their talk page saying you were offended by their comment and you'd appreciate them moderating their tone in the future. SUNY Albany fight song and alma mater

The cutoff date for the public domain for all works is currently 1923. "75 years old" would put that at about 1932, so it doesn't qualify, unless it demonstrably meets the "75 years after the death of the author rule" in force at that time (that may be what you're thinking; and it might even be 90 years if current copyright law applies). (How did SUNY Albany get a fight song and alma mater that predate the school's creation? Perhaps I should read the article).

Even if it were public domain, we routinely remove such material per WP:NOT#INFO (see number 3 there; you will find that especially relevant to the instant case). Per WP:NPS they belong at wikisource (again, only if they're free), not here. A paragraph discussing the songs and their history, perhaps quoting a brief, memorable excerpt, would be more encyclopedic.

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Fried chicken: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. I'm running into problems with the software that I am using when I try to do both a roll back and a warn at the same time (if the roll back fails due to someone else doing it first, the software still puts up a duplicated warning, one from the successful roll back, and one from me). Warning vandals....

Hey, as always, thanks for your help fighting vandalism. Just a note that on repeated vandalism cases (such as what you and I have recently been reverting in censorship, you have to bump up the level of the warning and then request intervention. You gave several level 3 warnings, even after I left a level 4 warning. Yes, by all means continue reverting the vandalism until the user is blocked (they can be quite active in the interim so it's good to stay on top of it) but once they've been Final Warned and an admin intervention request has been submitted it's not necessary to warn again (in fact it's better not to). Also, in cases of repeated blatant vandalism (page blanking, racist obscenities, etc.) it's okay to skip a level when warning (such as going from level 1 to 3) but there always has to be a recent level 4 warning in place before reporting it. I added a better image from Wiki-Commons to the List of Gibson players which... for some oddball reason... you identified as vandalism???? Did you actually look at the edit? I rightfully removed your warning message from my talk page... and then you turned around and put it back??? Thats the second blunder you've tagged on me in the last few days (You erroneously thought that WP:LC cleaning was vandalism) If you suffer from "anti-anon" bias then you;d better find another hobby :D . I used to have a user account and had over 20000 edits with it before I rejected it for the "purity" of anonymous editing. Wikipedia was built on the strength of IP editors. Usernames and accounts are useless unless you have ambitions to be an admin. I turned down over a dozen admin nominations prior to joining the ranks of the noble anons. Please check all your edits carefully before issuing any warnings. Misuse of "the tools" does not sit well with the Wiki-community. If you need help don't hesitate to ask. R.E. Warning Levels

One of the users already had a level 2 template, however I have seen level 3 after level 1 and I assumed that there was no problem with this. I have even seen Level 4 as users first warning and/or a block after level 1, however I ensure that a user has had plenty of warning before a level 4 or considering reporting a user to administrators. Articles on French royalty

IG: I *picked* you after noticing the many vandal reversions you make. How do we go about getting articles such as those on Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette semi-protected? Battlefield Heroes

I don't quite understand why you reverted my edit of the battlefield heroes article. The article, before editing, was filled with mistakes / redundances ( There are 2 customization and 2 Vehicle sections, in each case both saying the same thing) In addition, most of the information provided is provided in violation of the Non Disclosure Agreement signed between EA and BF:H beta-testers. Theoretically, only information given out by EA/DICE should be on the page. I tried to do my best to remove content which was obviously not in its place / let alone what has already been divulged by the producer of the game. If you feel there is a legitimate reason to revert to the former edit, could you please give it to me ? Also, did you read the changes before reverting everything ? Harry - Hi. I was just walking around downtown Albany and saw the sign. NY State Education Department put up signs like this from the mid 1920's to the 1960's. After that, private organizations put up similar signs to commemorate other events, with this one sponsored by the Telephone Pioneers of America. A tip-

First- I'd like to thank you for all your hard work in cleaning up the Albany County historical marker article. Second- there's alot missing, one I know of off the top of my head is at the corner of Second Ave and South Pearl St in the city of Albany. It commemorates Daniel P. O'Connell's birthplace. There are a series of markers also on Broadway in front of the Plaza (the big grassy area in front of old D&H headquarters, not the Empire State Plaza) which arent the traditional blue markers on a pole but still might be good for your list and are definitely interesting. I believe there are three or four, the first one unreadable, each subsequent one describes what the one before it states (Albany is seriously that old that we need markers to commemorate markers that commemorate a marker that commemorates an event!)

I also hope you join wp:CAPDIS, we could use you and your opinions and help looking over the relevant articles. If you have any events or buildings that you would like an article made on, I would like to work with you.Camelbinky (talk) 02:20, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Bias Commentary in regards to Bold and the Beautiful Characters.

Brooke Logan was a virgin when she and Ridge first started dating along with Caroline Spencer. The majority of the so called facts that's listed on the Taylor Hayes Page, Bridget Forrester Page, Nick Marone Page are bogus. Even though the Logans are a major part of the show you all have just recently added information about Donna Logan and Katie Logan. I thought this was suppose to be an encyclopedia and not a fan site for Taylor Fans or Anti-Brooke fans. Just because those fans favorite such as Stephanie or Taylor called Brooke slxt and whxre for years doesn't make it true and Youtube.com is proving that. Please get your facts straight. I'm not a Brooke fan but I'm a fan of the truth. And everytime someone types up the truth at Wikipedia in regards to Brooke Logan someone comes and removes it calling it fan fiction. It is not fan fiction if it's on youtube.com. Most of the articles and the information you have here is fan fiction. So if you want to remove that Brooke was a virgin when she first met Ridge and moved in with him fine. But you're erasing the truth. I've been a viewer every since the show began in 1987 and I'm just fed up with all of these lies people tell and their re-writing of history. And this is a rewrite of history. Caroline and Brooke were both virgins and friends, Caroline married Thorne due to Ridge's infidelity and Brooke asked Caroline if she could date Ridge. Caroline said yes. Ridge romanced Brooke who was innocent at the time and told him it was her first time being intimate with anyone. She also did like her daughter Hope and refused to give up her virginity to Dave Reed the cop and she primarily kissed on him a lot the same as Hope did with Liam. Dating and kissing only etc. As I said before I've watched this show from it's inception and I suggest that if you guys can't find legitimate facts except for hearsay and fan fiction then you all need to stop writing for all of the Bold and the Beautiful characters. Some people love characters who are criminals and can make them into heroines and some hate characters that are noble such as Hope which is a character alot of fans hate due to her stance on virginity. Some are already calling her a slxt at fan sites due to her kissing her ex-fiancee who ran off and left her in a heart beat to marry Steffy after she tricked him. As I said before perception. But Hope is still a virgin and not a slxt. Whitbybird and whitby and bird existed for 25 years as an independent and highly regarded engineering practice before merging with Ramboll in 2007. The Newcomem Society (the oldest engineering history society in the world are interested in engineering history. I am trying to establish for the society a Wikipedia entry relating to whitbybird....could you therefore please let us get on with it as we are being constantly frustrated by your repeated assimilation of our efforts into Ramboll. The site cites Ramboll and offers a clear 'follow on link'. Could you explain why you see it as appropriate to redirect.

Dear Newcomen, -- Hi! Are you referring to the single revert that I made to Whitbybird when you blanked the page without any edit summary? If so, you should know that blanking an article's page will most likely be reverted in short order by someone looking for mal-edits. Also, I would encourage you to use the edit summary to let others know what you are doing. Given a blanking of a page, w/o any reason, I reverted the change; and would do that again given the same circumstances.

You mention "being constantly frustrated by your repeated assimilation of our efforts". I am not aware of anything beyond that one revert. If that is not the case, please let me know what reverts you disagree with, and we can talk them out.

Driving under the influence page edit

Hi Ira,
I have a message about my edit I added, that you supposedly unedited:
"..an external link you added seems inappropriate according to our guidelines, and has been removed."

If the external link is what's unacceptable, why isn't just the link removed instead of ALL the rest of the edit along with it?

I don't exactly have gobs of time to figure out all this complicated guides and navigate this complex setup that Wiki has, to make any good edits without making some kind of mistake or error. I'm not a scholarly writer with all my walls covered up with university degrees.,
Since this Wiki scheme seems to be partly about "editors editing other editors",..
Would it be appropriate to just ask you to reformat my edit to meet the guidelines.. and maintain my point I am making with my "edit"?
..and put back (verify? = what you cannot prove false) back on there ??

Thomas, Hi! Actually, the link was just one part of it; I saw an article which had an inappropriate tone; and the text that seemed biased (take a look at Wikipedia:Tendentious editing, which describes what partisan editing looks like). If you feel that the DUI article does not portray a balanced perspective, then by all means, please enhance it. However, before you do, I would suggest that in addition to reading about writing with a neutral point of view, you may want to Article development, Writing better articles for additional reading.

If you want, you can start a draft page at User:VigilanteLawyer/Driving under the influence that has your additions, and I would be more than happy to look it over before you place it in the live article.

Hi. There is very little that I am certain of. However, my experience has shown that edits containing the removal of and changes to dates or numbers that do not have edit summaries are typically mistakes. If you have a source that has another date, by all means, please correct the page (and cite the source), and describe your changes in the edit summary.

Your NYS Historical Marker Photo

Hi Ira-

I'm writing to your to ask for permission to use your photo of the NYS Historical Marker that you include on your wiki page about historical markers in New York for non-commercial (strictly educational) purposes.
