Nothing has ever been written on the artist Bettina Shaw-Lawrence, the artist. Could you take another look at the second text which is a total revision of the first one. Thank you. Boselawrence (talk) 16:47, 27 March 2008 (UTC)BoselawrenceReply

Conflict of interest

edit

  If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

I'm thrilled, I've received my first answer on my userpage and await, as recommended, your help as to what has happened to my second article,and if it can be retrieved and what improvements can be made. I'm sure you realise that it is far from finished. Is your question about your deleted article? It has been deleted twice due to questions about Betty's notability, verifiability, and questionable sources. Please read WP:NOTABILITY, WP:VERIFY, and WP:RELIABLE. Also read Why was my page deleted? Hoof Hearted (talk) 19:52, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
{{helpme}} Have followed all the recommendations regarding Bettin (Betty) Shaw-Lawrence, but depite it all, the article has disappeared into thin air. I'm looking for someone who can guide me. Thanks Boselawrence (talk) 17:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)BoselawrenceReply
Bose, I suggest you:
  1. Ask an administrator to copy the text of the article to your sandbox.
  2. Fix any notability, reliability, point of view, and conflict of interest issues
  3. Ask an administrator to review your work, preferably Orange Mike who seems to be the most involved.
  4. If everything looks good, your article should be restored.
Hoof Hearted (talk) 19:53, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your advice. I feel much better and await Orange Mike's help. Best regards, Boselawrence (talk) 21:11, 27 March 2008 (UTC)boselawrenceReply

Hello again Bose. It appears you're having trouble figuring out this darn wikipedia stuff - don't worry, everyone was new once. I noticed that you posted a response to Orange Mike above. While this may get noticed by him, a far more effective way to communicate is on his talk page. Furthermore, it's considered good ettiquette to start a new section on his talk page by clicking on the "+" tab, to keep your discussion separate from others on his page. Finally, I wouldn't expect him to technically "restore" your article, which basically means to undelete it and put it back where it was. Instead, you want him to "copy the text to your sandbox" to you can make improvements in a temporary area of wikipedia before it gets "published" or transferred to the main article area. I hope this helps. Hoof Hearted (talk) 15:53, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

yes, you've been a great help,but haven't yet heard from Orange Mike. How long does it usually take?. It's as bad as waiting for exam results. Best regards, Boselawrence (talk) 14:04, 29 March 2008 (UTC) BoselawrenceReply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:IMG 0020.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Zginder 2008-05-17T18:16Z (UTC)

Thank you. Aware of the problem and that Wikpedia takes the copyright issue seriously. What has happened is that we have been trying to understand how the system works. Can it wait till tomorrow until I have had a talk with Haemo who is keeping an eye on my article. Still under the stress of the friend who made my article disappear for a few minutes. I thought I was going to have a heart attack! Will also follow your advice, but tomorrow, please. Best regards, Boselawrence (talk) 18:42, 17 May 2008 (UTC)BoselawrenceReply

The photo will be deleted in one week, if you do not fix it. Yes, it can wait to tomorrow. Zginder 2008-05-17T20:43Z (UTC)

The image uploaded is not the one I wanted as its presentation leaves a lot to be desired. I have another improved version available but have no idea how to transfer it to Wikipedia. I have all the particulars about source and copyright but if I can't transfer picture all will have to be cancelled. Can you give me advice?Boselawrence (talk) 11:29, 19 May 2008 (UTC)boselawrenceReply

I would upload the "improved version" with source and copyright to a descriptive file name and then put {{db-G7}} to this image so, an admin can delete it, as it is not needed. If the image is under a free license or is in the public domain in the U.S.A. and the country of origin, please upload it to Commons where it can be used by all language Wikipedias and more. If it is in the public domain in the U.S.A. and not the country of origin or is fair use upload here. Hope this helps. Zginder 2008-05-19T13:57Z (UTC)

Thank you for your help but I'm technically a hopeless case. As a result my article will not comprise one of the Artist's portraits which is a shame. Haemo will be disappointed. C'est la vie.Boselawrence (talk) 18:35, 19 May 2008 (UTC)BoselawrenceReply

Moving of user page

edit

Hi there! You're not meant to move you user page and talk page into the mainspace, such as you did with yours. I've sorted it out and moved you pages back (+ solving all redirects from userspace to mainspace). Please ask for help if you need so, and do not move your page again – please. --Eivind (t) 15:34, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much. I read about redirecting on several occasions but couldn't make head or tail of it.When it comes to computer expertise, I'm a total flop. Thanks for puttting it right and won't try again. Best regards--Boselawrence (talk) 15:54, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

No problem :)
Remember that you can always ask for help if you need any. I do not know what your intentions were and what you wanted to do, but I hope everything's solved out now. I will watch this page, so you can always ask questions here and I'll try to answer. --Eivind (t) 15:56, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

My intention was to redirect Betty Shaw-Lawrence towards Bettina Shaw-Lawrence, as this artist worked under both names. Next time, will keep in mind your offer. In fact I do have another question: When you want to transfer an image from Picasa to Wikepedia so that it can appear in my article on Bettina Shaw-Lawrence, what do I have to do? Best regards--Boselawrence (talk) 16:14, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just tested Betty Shaw-Lawrence and it switched automatically to Bettina S-L. I'm delighted as it 's really essential that the two names be connected as people don't make the link between the two names. Thanks again,--Boselawrence (talk) 16:21, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I made a redirect from Betty to Bettina :)
The best place to start when interested in uploading pictures is this page. Just follow the instructions :) --Eivind (t) 16:22, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

This morning my article had several warning tags without offering any explanations on my talk page. Is this serious?Boselawrence (talk) 14:42, 24 May 2008 (UTC)BoselawrenceReply

Not very serious, but it shows that your article is not that good. If your article is written in an unencyclopedic way, some user will tag it. I therefore reccomend that you rewrite the article, making sure it contains no bragging, advertisement and things like that. It's also important that your tone is objective, and please refrain from using adjectives like "best", "special" etc. If you like, I can help you, but my English is not that good. --Eivind (t) 21:51, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Corrected words such as major etc and have removed one or two sentences that might appear biased. Added a template for hangon under advertising and explained in my talk page what I had tried to achieve. The latter is still there but my template has disappeared as well as the label explaining why I wanted the user to wait. Is this normal procedure and what does it mean?It's funny but my adopter thought the article was pretty good.Regards Boselawrence (talk) 17:18, 25 May 2008 (UTC)BoselawrenceReply

Since you have tried to fix the article and since you have explained on the talk page of the article, I reckon the best thing to do would be to contact the person who tagged the article with those templates and ask him what more needs to be done. If he can't or won't help you with explaining what to do, I or you should be bold and just remove them. No-one can tag an article without being able to explain exactly what's wrong. The user was User:Orangemike, and you can talk to him at User talk:Orangemike. If you want you can also tell him about this discussion so that he can read it. Good luck! --Eivind (t) 20:22, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bettina Shaw-Lawrence death

edit

If you want to add a date of Death to the page Bettins Shaw-Lawrence you need reliable sources such as newspapers or websites reporting her death announcement. If you have not done it yet, inform newspapers and publish an obit, either in England or in Italy where she resided. Thanks. --Folengo (talk) 09:38, 16 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
