Toledo War image edit

A pretty minor point, but I don't think Image:Upper peninsula Toledo War.jpg is quite accurate. It's pretty close, but the historical western boundary of the Michigan Territory ran from the southernmost extreme of Lake Michigan through the middle of the lake to its northenmost extreme. Interstingly the middle portion of the UP had technically been unorganized for a few years, betweem the time that Illinois Territory was split off from Indiana Territory and when everything left over after the State of Illinois was created was attached to Michigan Territory in 1818. I might note also that both Image:Michigan-territory-1805-1818.png and Image:Michigan-territory-1836.png are also not 100% accurate either. Cheers. olderwiser 00:27, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, I guess I will be correcting that image. When I created it, I used those Michigan Territory maps that you mentioned above as my guide on where to place the line. I guess I shouldn't have done that in hindsight. Thanks for the information - do you know of any maps from this time period that correctly place the line? Hotstreets 00:41, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, this is more of an analyticial synthesis than a historical map, but I've found it helpful. Likewise with this (though I've found the boundary line placements on the latter to be somewhat unreliable and rather more of a general approximation than an exact position. This is also rather interesting. olderwiser 03:41, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay, fixed (I hope). I used your sources and a map from the State of Michigan web site, and the new image is now a PNG, to eliminate some JPEG pixelation issues. So it is now located here: Image:Upper peninsula Toledo War.png. Thanks, and please let me know what you think? Hotstreets 20:54, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Looks great. Thanks. olderwiser 23:58, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wisconsin Territory Border edit

Just a quick question. I know that only the eastern part of UP was part of MI-Terr, but WI-Terr papers say it only went to the currently MI-WI boundaries. Was the western part of UP really part of WI-Terr before its incorporation into MI or was the western UP "unorganized"? (This came up because of Wisconsin Territory image discussions.) Fair use rationale for Image:Interstate 1958 plan mi.png edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Interstate 1958 plan mi.png. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:08, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

DYK edit

On 28 September, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Abyssinia, Henry (M*A*S*H episode), which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

I just wanted to commend you for your amazing work on "Abyssinia, Henry". I'm frequently impressed by articles in the DYK section, but I don't know if I've ever seen one that was so lengthy, in-depth, and well-referenced. Bravo! -- Kicking222 00:07, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template:Calculus footer edit

I see you were adding {{Calculus footer}} to some articles. Then you should remove the {{calculus}} template I think. Too templates should be too much for one article. Cheers, Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 20:26, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please do not upload images in the GIF format edit

Hello and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you've uploaded a number of images in the GIF format. In the future, please save GIF images in the PNG format before converting (see Wikipedia:Preparing images for upload). PNG images almost always have a smaller file size, which decreases the amount of time they take to load. There are a bunch of other advantages to the PNG format such as lossless compression that you can read about on its Wikipedia article. ---Remember the dot 21:36, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spam in LON-CAPA edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on LON-CAPA, by 71.245.63.110 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because LON-CAPA is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting LON-CAPA, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:23, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:WDCR-AM logo.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:WDCR-AM logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:51, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Goodbye, Farewell and Amen edit

Are you still working on this? I think it is sad that such an iconic television show does not have more GA's and FA's. The main M*A*S*H article needs a lot of work as well. Nevertheless, I could see it making FA as well. Thank you for your work so far. Ursasapien (talk) 08:57, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Template:Calculus footer edit

A tag has been placed on Template:Calculus footer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 02:07, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:FOUR RFC edit

There are two WP:RFCs at WP:FOUR. The first is to conflate issues so as to keep people from expressing meaningful opinions. Image source problem with File:Upper peninsula Toledo War.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Upper peninsula Toledo War.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:31, 28 January 2021 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --TheImaCow (talk) 10:31, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
