Help request

I saw your request for help to Ukexpat and looked at your contribution history - I don't see anything except the request for help and your posts to Ukexpat. Any edits to Wikipedia will show up immediately - if they don't, it could be a browser issue or simply hitting the wrong button (i.e., something other than "Save page"), then leaving the edit screen. Nope! Didn't preview, had followed all the rules using the wizard, pretty straightforward, so hit the save page, it came back "ok", with the option to edit it (so it must have worked)Hardy High Points (talk) 21:01, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Did it come back as formatted text, with no edit screen? If you accidentally hit "preview" you get both the formatted screen and the edit window, which means it isn't saved yet. I've done that, then banged my head on the screen. I'd go back in the browser to the edit screen (if you can) and try again, preferably saving the material to a text file to guard against losing it. Yes sorry, but there is no record of there ever having been a page named Hardy (hill) or Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Hardy (hill) as far as I can see, nor are there any 'deleted' edits from your account. This means we can't help you get the page back. I can only say that Acroterion's advice of saving the text somewhere else first is a very good idea. —Soap— 21:23, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

New editors sometimes misunderstand something in the interface and incorrectly think their edit was saved. In some cases a message will appear to report a problem after clicking "Save page". Click the "My contributions" link at top of any page to see your saved edits, but note that if the page is later deleted then the edit will also disappear from your contributions. It can still be seen by administrators like me but your account has no edits to deleted pages. See more at Help:User contributions. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:04, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

The submission process is in two stages. You "Save Page", then when it comes back with (another) "human" word test this needs to be typed in and "Save Page" done again (did an "edit summary" as well), then it's in! Whether you have to do this depends on your account and your edit. You are not yet autoconfirmed so you have to answer a CAPTCHA when you add external links, whether or not it's in a page creation. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:35, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

And to pile insult on injury, I've proposed that your new article be deleted. [1] It runs very close to immediate deletion under our speedy deletion guidelines, namely G11:advertising. You will need to find outside commentary from reliable third-party sources to support inclusion of this article as being notable, we are not the right website to promote independent ideas or books. Speedy deletion nomination of Hardy (hill)

A tag has been placed on Hardy (hill), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Gentlemen - this article is EXACTLY THE SAME as, for example, the article Marilyn (hill). So, since you have not deleted that article, you should not delete this one. Exactly as that article, this article is about a UK hill list which has been published in a book (the first edition being in the later 1990s!) - end of story; and moreover recognised as a valid hill list since then, eg by the Long Distance Walkers Association, which approved the list as an authority on the high points categories it includes in the later 1990s. The British Library allows a book to be published on the internet (the ISBN format specifically allows for this). Marilyns have all sorts of web sites about them, the Hardys web site is exactly the same as them. So I repeat please, delete Marilyn (hill) or undelete Hardy (hill), since both are exactly the same type of article, with exactly the same notability status. If you don't like the username that's easy to change, but the list of Hardys follows ALL your rules for notability etc. I hope this clarifies the situation for you!Hardy High Points (talk) 18:09, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
