I know that it seems to be common practice (and many admins speedy them, incorrectly in my view), but Wikipedia:CSD#A2 specifically states that it's only for "Foreign language articles that exist on another Wikimedia project". Royalism

That's one way of looking at it. But if you look up Merriam-Webster, it simply directs you to the entry on monarchism [1]. American Heritage also agrees [2], as does Oxford [3]. I’m not sure how this works, however, I had just read about a funny urban legend called Alexandria's Genesis, and I thought that it would be a good idea that wikipedia has a section about it. You want that to be deleted, true it is probably just a myth, but it is an interesting myth, a myth about a super-gene that gives long life and good health. I don’t believe that it is wrong to ad a section to wikipedia explaining the content of that myth. Just wanted to let you know that if the author of the page removes a speedy tag from the article, you shouldn't use rollback to restore the tag unless that is the only thing that has been changed on the page. I just wanted to let you know that I didn't mean to land you in hot water over that rollback edit. Dig through my contributions and I'm sure you'll find some rollbacks that shouldn't be there; mistakes happen, no big deal.
I only meant to send a message during the recent ANI report on the editor in question that we need to keep our story straight on what this person is doing wrong. I've been hunting down this guy's sockpuppets for about a year now and I would hate to have an uninvolved and under-informed administrator suspend any further investigation for reason that accusations of any and all wrondoings might constitute harassment. There are editors who are thouroughly frustrated with ABH's behaviour and might say or do anything to get him blocked; I only want to make sure he's blocked for the right reasons -- sockpuppetry. If bringing too much attention to your rollback caused you any inconvenience, I sincerely apologize because my intent was anything but.

We're getting ever-closer to moving a set of over 200 drafts into the article namespace. (We're trying to jump-start Wikipedia's Outline of knowledge).

It's proved to be a monumental task, but we've been hacking away at it with advanced wiki-tools and brute force (manual) editing.

But we still have a long ways to go (even though we're over half done), and we could use all the help we can get.

Cool. That's what I thought. One major type of WikiGnome activity and page improvement is fixing redlinks. And we've got lots of redlinks. I like to call fixing redlinks "bluelinking". We need as many WikiGnomes as we can get to bluelink these pages. If you are interested, please let me know. (Please don't edit our redlinks! They're standardized. Instead, rename a misnamed page to the title in the redlink, or create a redirect leading to wherever the information is).

By the way, what method do you use to browse Wikipedia? That is, do you browse conventionally (clicking on one link at a time, waiting for the page to load, and then clicking on another link, etc.), or do you batch-browse (using Linky to load many pages into browser tabs and then using Firefox's tab controls to rapidly switch between tabs to look at the various pages)?

I use the conventional method. Unless I'm dealing with vandalism, I feel there's no real hurry, and besides when I do tidy up, it's generally stuff I'm looking at for my own interest, so I like having my full attention on it. I'm not a multi-tasker; slow and steady is good enough for me. I'm currently using Chrome, so I think in theory I could use Linky, but I'm not that sort of editor. Besides, concentrating on multiple things just raises the possibilty of my making a mistake. My way is slower, but I feel I do a more thorough job. HalfShadow 23:04, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

I wasn't talking about editing. I was talking about browsing (reading). The "by the way" discussion isn't about multi-tasking (I can't read two pages at the same time, can you?). It's about not waiting. Waiting is a waste of time. When you click on a link, you have to wait for the page to load (which can take several seconds per page, and that adds up quick). And during that time your attention isn't on the page, as the page isn't in front of you yet (nothing is). Switching between tabs is almost instantaneous. Page-queueing (loading pages into tabs) with Linky also greatly reduces the need for backtracking, which also saves time. Your computer should wait for you, not the other way around.  ;) If you'd like to minimize your microwaits, give Linky a try. I find most people can't appreciate its power until they've actually tried it for awhile. Then they can't live without it.  :) The Transhumanist 00:02, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I misread that. Load speeds really aren't much of an issue with me (I have a cable modem); pages usually load more or less instantaneously. There are times when Wiki 'bogs down' but when that happens it tends to be happening to everyone else, too. I may try Linky out anyway, but I'm not sure it's compatible with Chrome. Watchmen

I don't know what that story is, but unless it's intended to be a sequel to the film then it doesn't belong in the "Followed by" section. If it's just some DVD feature that will provide an animated look to a portion of the original story that they could not film for the actual movie then that's all it is, and it should be discussed in the article body. Other articles can be used as examples of how guidelines are applied or what makes a certain level of article, but they aren't shields or triggers.

As another editor pointed out: Rorschach has a better out-of story (oos) reference material and discussion than the others. Yes, there is an over use of plot in the article, but unlike the others, the plot isn't all that's there. The others only duplicate the plot summary present in the list and the base article, once they collapse back into those, there isn't anything left.

Now, there's the option of putting Rorschach up for an RfC or and AfD to redirect. There's also the option of working on the sections for the other 5 primary characters in the list to provide oos material that needs them to be split back off (and IIRC the editor that did those merges made a similar suggestion).
