December 2011 edit

Hello! I'm a bot created by another Wikipedia editor. I wanted to let you know that I removed a link that you recently added to the page R. Narasimha here. I did this because https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=10150333142528520&set=a.10150145771418520.279999.596483519&type=1&theater is probably inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Instead of linking to an external image, you can find images already available or use the upload wizard if you'd like to add new free content.

We appreciate your help in making Wikipedia better for everyone. If I made a mistake, feel free to undo my edit. If you have any questions, you can ask at the Help desk.

Thank you! --XLinkBot (talk) 04:49, 1 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, do you not have some actual references to support this article? Books, magazines, newspaper articles? At the moment there is nothing to go on. I have tried searching on Google (ignoring "Roddam") but I can't find anything. Perhaps you know sources in Kannada or other languages? These will be fine for Wikipedia, there is no prejudice in favour of English so feel free to cite sources in whichever language - you can either put them straight into the article, or you can reply on the Articles for Deletion page (or if you aren't sure, just list them here and I'll copy them to the discussion for you). With my best wishes Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:40, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello Chiswick Chap, really appreciate your offer to help. I have few photographs (unpublished) about Mr. Narasimha which I have been able to source out. In one of the photo he is presiding over a function as the president of Karnataka Film Industry Journalist union, In another photo he is launching a book and also have photos of him from the movie he acted in. There is also an article published about him in a Kannada magazine and I have a scanned image of the article. I'm not sure if these photos would be helpful as reference? If yes, how do I get these photos to be reviewed by people so that the article could clear the review. I have added few photos as links here, hopefully you can guide me. Hallo, good to meet you. Well, firstly, assuming we can publish these items, I do not think they would be sufficient to get the AfD (review) to accept the article. To get the article agreed as "notable", we need "reliable, independent" sources, which would include any known national or major regional newspapers - The Hindu is the ideal source, but the major papers in Bombay, Chennai etc would also be fine. The sources, in turn, have to be talking *about* Narasimha directly as a person of note, not just casually mentioning that he was at a meeting or something.
A photograph is unlikely to help to establish notability; it could help make the article less likely to be taken to AfD again but it won't do much for us today. (By the way, did you really take that photo yourself? If not, it is very unwise of you to claim so on Commons - people do check up very strictly on Commons uploads. Much better to tell the truth and get proper permission.)
The Kannada magazine article may perhaps be usable as a source for notability: since most of us don't read Kannada, we need a translation, along with publication details (name of magazine, name of author, title of article, date of publication); and the translated text will have to say something to show that he was a notable public figure. If you let me have a translation and publication details I am happy to put them in the article, but this one reference will not be enough on its own, whatever it says.
I am therefore pretty sure we need additional sources (2 or 3 at least) from good reliable places to show notability. Chiswick Chap (talk) 18:02, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello Chiswick Chap, thank you for reviewing it and the advice. I shall try and see if I can source some more articles. (Guru.jayasimha (talk) 18:06, 9 December 2011 (UTC))Reply
