i am a newby and have been hounded off by craigsy refering the hylton castle article , politics local to sunderland.

but wish to equally contribute without remarks made about my own educational ability bearing in mind i have been born in England and use ,well, my native language as questioned by """north north west""" in his slanderous replies .

Can I get this submission I made on di George syndrome in a separate article sub section to help Judges who do use wikipedia in the legal research to get the facts right.

If yes , how do you bring back the deleted work and re correct it under the right format ?

Hi Mr Snowball. Take a look at our legal disclaimer: Wikipedia does not give legal opinions and can't give legal advice. Though I'm sure lawyers and judges do read the encyclopedia, we can't create any material aimed specifically at them. As an encyclopedia, all our content has to be intended for a general readership. For that reason, a separate section of the Di George syndrome article wouldn't be appropriate.
You might want to look at other places to host material that Wikipedia can't accept. Our list of alternative outlets may be useful. Gonzonoir (talk) 09:39, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Revert.

Hello,

I was going to revert that edit onMicrosoft Word but decided against it. The IP removed a statement that had a references as a blog post. He removed the blog post and the statement that it supported, re-wrote the section and added a {{Fact}} tag. I am kind of thinking of putting it back to his version but would like your input first. Hm. The diff I'm looking at has him actually just arbitrarily cutting out a chunk of prose, including breaking a word ("translation") in half, which had the effect of moving a fact tag previously appended to the section's last sentence (and dated Feb 07) stuck up in the middle. SPL Portal

Sorry, I've now found the article you mean. SPL Portal was deleted six weeks ago because it was an expired PROD. My concern, in proposing it for deletion, was that the article did nothing to show how the software met Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion: it didn't cite any references to show that the subject had been covered in multiple, reliable sources. That's our baseline for notability, the determinant of whether Wikipedia can have an article on a subject.
What to do next: as a regular editor I'm unable to restore deleted articles, but you can request that the deleting admin, SchuminWeb, restore it. Just leave a note on his/her user talk page. Gonzonoir (talk) 16:07, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Super-trivial note

Hi Excirial. Just wanted to drop a line to say that you're misspelling "Response" in your edit summaries when you handle questions on the Help Desk and NCHP (you have it as "Responce", which leapt out at me because, in my native British English, a "ponce" is a pretentious person). This is super-trivial, but I reckoned I'd want someone to let me know if they saw me doing something similar (so please do, if you do!). Thanks for the notification! My ability to prevent such errors in kind of reliant on spell-checkers and unfortunately the one integrated in Google chrome seems to be less then perfect as it only catches errors when you select words. Since "Responce" seems perfectly natural to me i assume i have been spelling it this way for months at least (At least i didn't spell it correctly even once in 500 edits).   1. You posted it on a help page, rather than into a new article.
  2. It was a direct copyviolation of http://fex.ennonline.net/29/juniorfarmer.aspx - Wikipedia can't accept material that infringes copyright.
You will need to first register an account, which has many benefits, including the ability to create articles. Once you have registered, please search Wikipedia first to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject. Please also review a few of our relevant policies and guidelines which all articles should comport with. Actually, it was an email sent through a correspondence on the Wikia Wiki for the show from another user. I'll link so to verify. If you're referring to the TV.com ref, that was an old set of codes that was verified by Jeff Marsh but he checked again and it was wrong - so, that, along with the majority of sites on the internet, are wrong about production code. Hi. I didn't actually merge the article myself, however I placed tags on the talk page, per the guide to closing AfD debates, here and here. As for closing the AfD early, I actually didn't relise that the time being displayed was GMT+10, not UTC! Robert Keable

Hi there - I see you've this article up at GAN. I don't know that I will get to it, having tied myself up with somewhat less worthy projects at present (see Talk:Wedding industry/GA1), but I was looking at your references and wondered whether you would consider the notes and references system rather than refs alone with the full ref where first occurring: see Ode on a Grecian Urn for an example. That seems like a very sensible suggestion, thanks. I'll take a crack at reorganizing the refs. (This is the first article I've written that has so many references to the same material (though I should probably apply this suggestion to the Trouble with Normal article too), and I got a bit bogged down.) All the best for the Wedding industry GA: I'll just trail that the Keable article has wartime heroics, Jazz Age priest-authored erotica, game fishing, and Pacific islands romance. Facebook Lite

Everyone (4 users) thinks it should be merged. I have never merged pages before, so I am not completely sure what to do next. Shall I go ahead and add it to the (probably) Features section on the Facebook page? Or is there some other mysterious wiki process that still needs to happen? Hey - didn't have very long, so I've just done the merge myself - here are the steps I took, for future reference:
  • Close the "merge" discussion and note the consensus, by adding {{Discussion top|1=The result was '''merge''' into DESTINATION PAGE. -- ~~~~}}

to the top of the session about merge on the talk page, and {{Discussion bottom}} to the bottom.

  • Click "edit", and copy the text from the article to be merged (Facebook Lite) onto the clipboard
  • Load the destination page (Facebook), find an appropriate section (I thought it fit with the interface evolution, since Lite is an alternate interface), and click edit: paste the text from Facebook Lite in there. I made a few edits to the text I'd pasted as well, dropping an uncited sentence on speculation and adding another source.
  • Save my changes to Facebook with an edit summary pointing to the consensus for merger (at Talk:Facebook Lite).
  • Replace the text at Facebook Lite with #REDIRECT [[Facebook#Facebook Lite]] {{R to section}} {{R from merge}}, which links to the relevant section and categorizes the redirect page that will result, and leave an edit summary again pointing to the consensus for merger.
  • On Talk:Facebook, add a {{merged-from|Facebook Lite}} template pointing readers of that page back to the Facebook Lite talk page, should they need it.

Thanks for the message. It was just the kind of feedback I was looking for actually.

To prove notability of the company, should I include reference to where Advent has been covered in independent sources? Things like press coverage?

Also, I've put this live as a stub, which I guess is the right thing to do?

Finally, one of the main reasons for me doing this (I've been upfront and pointed out I work for Advent) is that our main competitors are also on Wikipedia. So if we're not allowed on, I guess they're not either?

Hi there - sorry for the slightly belated reply. Thanks for being so open about your connection to Advent. To answer your questions one by one:
  • Yes, press coverage is exactly the sort of thing that could establish notability. It should be independent coverage, not press releases. Have a read of our guideline on reliable sources for more details.
  • Stub tagging isn't terrifically important - it's mainly an aid to other editors who might be looking for something to expand - but yes, that was a good call for that article. Stub tagging does not, though, mean that an article is held to lower standards of notability. The best thing you can do is to add references that establish notability before you post the article into the main article space. You can do this by working on a draft version in your own user space beforehand.
  • It doesn't automatically follow that an article on your competitors justifies an article on Advent. The other company might be notable where you are not (the company I work for rates Google as a competitor; I'm absolutely sure they're notable and we're not (yet :) ) ) It's also possible that the competitor might not be notable and that its article might merit deletion, but that nobody's got round to reviewing its notability yet.
