How to describe E2 in Wikipedia (or WikiVoyage)?

edit

Dear Geoff,

Elsewhere I read about your intention to walk the E2 and add a list of placenames to the article in Wikipedia. I suggest that you have a look at some of the other E-paths. For E11 I made a very detailed description because there is no such thing in English at all. For E3 I only provided some basic information, although I intend to work out certain sections later (I did that already for the Bulgarian section in the Dutch wikipedia and will later make an English translation). With E10 I could have advanced further if various editors, administrators, bureaucrats and robots with conflicting ideas would not send me to and fro, but the table of contents and first written sections may give you a clue of what I want it to be (the Austrian Rupertiweg has been completed in Dutch).

For E2 itself I suggest that you firmly refer to the available booklets to avoid copyright problems, and then indicate that they are also very useful for those who do not read Dutch and French respectively. For France you may also refer to www.gr-infos.com and www.ffrandonees.fr and to the detailed maps of IGN. On your way walking you will come across good maps for the UK, The Netherlands and Belgium.

Wikipedia editors are not very fond of lists of placenames as such, so your suggestion might be turned down in advance or, worse, be deleted after implementation. Maybe you should limit yourself to townships of interest or administrative units of a higher order. WikiVoyage editors will be more lenient on this topic as they intend to describe itineraries.

Don't forget to mention your project in Wikipedia:WikiProject Hiking Trails.

Have a good trip! DrMennoWolters (talk) 18:37, 13 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
