June 2014 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. At least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to List of programs broadcast by NBC, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at the welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. Vjmlhds 16:26, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Just wanted an explanation for the content removal. I see why you were removing now, but this could have been resolved much earlier if you just explained.Fungal vexation (talk) 16:28, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

I was trying to, but kept running into edit conflicts. Basically, NBC doesn't air any of those shows, and to me it kinda looked like vandalism (somebody trying to be a wise guy). I was wondering why they kept coming back. But hopefully now we're all good. Vjmlhds (talk) 16:31, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ah. I see. Sorry for jumping to conclusions.Fungal vexation (talk) 16:33, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Award 4 U edit

awarded to Fungal vexation as a way of saying "welcome aboard", and to also show no hard feelings.
Vjmlhds (talk) 16:43, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. You're probably the most civil user I've met. And I don't think I've met any users that would give barnstars for mistakes.Fungal vexation (talk) 16:53, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome, and I appreciate the kind words. You had good intentions...our signals just got crossed, that's all. Vjmlhds (talk) 17:05, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Starting local is a good idea. Writing about something you know will give you perspective. You still need to use and cite to WP:RS. Open you wikipage to permit e-mails. Or e-mail me. Note how I reformatted Butler, Maryland. I have no experience using the new visual ecditor, sok cna't advise you on that. I would say try it and see if it works. Stay in touch, and I'll try to help. 7&6=thirteen () 20:57, 5 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I've been away for the summer so I haven't been able to reply to anything. I also forgot how to do some things. I'll relearn though.Fungal vexation (talk) 13:29, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Image without license edit

Unspecified source/license for File:Evil logo.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:Evil logo.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 20:00, 3 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Revamping your WP:User page edit

Suggest you start there. Will give you some ideas as to what is possible. It's your page, so you can do almost anything you want (there are a very few limits).<br? I also suggest you take a tour of some active wikipedian's user pages. Take a look at here to find some experienced users. Then you can look under the hood (click "EDIT" on their user page, but DON'T save], You can also contact them to ask how they did whatever it is you would like to emulate. Most users will be happy to help, I think. Approach them with your hand extended; tell them how much you admire what they've done. 7&6=thirteen () 23:07, 3 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

September 2014 edit

Hello, I'm 82.132.234.87. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Walschaerts valve gear, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 82.132.234.87 (talk) 14:52, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

You think this is hilarious don't you? Fungal vexation (talk) 14:53, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

No, I think it's WP:POLICY that articles need to be sourced. Why are you acting against that? 82.132.234.87 (talk) 14:54, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on User talk:82.132.234.87. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. 82.132.234.87 (talk) 14:57, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

You're doing the same thing. Fungal vexation (talk) 14:59, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm permitted to remove messages from my talk: page. You are not permitted to repeatedly re-add them. Do not do this again. 82.132.234.87 (talk) 15:01, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Friendly reminder regarding talk page messages edit

Hello. I wanted to let you know that as per WP:TPV and WP:USER, editors may remove messages at will from their own talk pages. While we may prefer that comments be archived instead, policy does not prohibit users -including anonymous editors- from removing messages or warnings from their own talk pages. The only kinds of talk page messages that cannot be removed (as per WP:BLANKING) are declined unblock requests (but only while blocks are still in effect), confirmed sockpuppet notices, or shared IP header templates (for unregistered editors). However, it should be noted that these exceptions only exist in order to keep a user from potentially gaming the system. Thank you, — Kralizec! (talk) 16:02, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
