Darrell Dexter

I just wanted to touch base with you and explain my removal of one of the items you added to this article. The subject of the article is Darrell Dexter, and I know that his government has been hit by a number of scandals that need to be covered. What I don't understand is why a detailed account of one of his ministers expenses should be listed in his article. You added the info to Corbetts article in the past, which is where it should be. There is one other problem, you added a url from the Chronicle Herald as a reference, even thou the article is no longer found. With just a dead url, we are left with nothing because we don't have a title, or a date. Did you check this first? or did you just copy it from Corbetts article? Offline references are allowed, but article info is needed. I will check and see if I can find a workable reference for this. Cmr08 (talk) 00:43, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Freshfighter9, I see where you picked up on those multiple new accounts editing Dexter's article, but you may be interested to know that I just discovered a potential fourth account, as a newly registed account has edited the Nova Scotia NDP article as well. We'll have to keep an eye on those articles, as it seems too much of a coincidence. One is even named NS NDP. Also, have you read the info the accounts added? To me, it sounds like the edits are being written in a way that not only adds positive info for Dexter and his party, but uses the text to take shots at others. (Why else would the editor mention something negative about opponents or the federal government as a lead in to the positive NDP info?) Cmr08 (talk) 20:29, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

There's something funny going on with these editors. I lost track counting how many new user accounts have been added in the last couple of days, all editing the same articles. Could be a coincidence, but it seems like an organized effort to edit the NDP articles. Someone even copied and pasted his NDP bio into the text. I didn't check to see who did this yet, but take a look at Jamie Baillie's article. Someone decided to inlcude direct external links to about a dozen websites that shouldn't be linked. Everything from Dalhousie University to United Way of Halifax, and many others. This is probably not connected to the Dexter editors but it's still worth watching. I have noticed one of the Dexter editors reverting an edit by one of the other new users, but that could be to hide the suspected sockpuppetry. The best thing here would probably be to just monitor their edits over the next few days to see if there all connected or not, rather than jump the gun and bring what may only be a coincidence to the attention of other editors. Yes, I noticed that also. One of those accounts messaged me, explaining what was going on. He stated to me that "Sockpuppetry is not an issue here - although I posted what I was doing on my own Facebook page, so others may have seen that and been inspired." Without proof, we have to take his word for it, no matter how far fetched it sounds. I just noticed that one of those editors had removed part of the Dexter article, replacing it with a copy and paste job from his NDP biography. This irks me more than anything else, because some editors don't seem to understand that, copying and pasting is not the way wikipedia articles are written. David Wilson (Canadian politician)

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I had to change a couple of things you added to this article, as the information you provided was false. The first claim was probably just a misunderstanding when you read the news article about his son entering the byelection race. The statement made in the news article was:

"Dan Wilson said he can't explain why his father resigned his seat because he doesn't know why."

"He said he terminated his Liberal Party membership in light of the MLA expenses scandal. He said the Atlantica Party offers substantive reform to provincial politics."

In the article, when Dan wilson said he terminated his Liberal Party membership, he was refering to his own membership, not his fathers membership. He had already mentioned in the previous sentence that he didn't know why his father resigned. If you check the article, you will see that the two sentences I quoted here are actually two separate paragraphs, but like I already stated, this could have been easily misunderstood.

The second claim you made was about Lapointe’s review revealing the purchase by Wilson of questionable items such as big-screen TVs and a $700 espresso machine. This is 100% false. The item he attributed to Wilson was the $400 purchase of patio furniture. The other items that you mentioned were actaully listed as expenses of other MLAs, not Wilson. Since were dealing with a very serious matter, it would be in everyone's best interest to make sure material around these allegations is correct before adding it to a wikipedia article. Hi Freshfighter! Sorry about the reverting nonsense. I've reverted your edits at first as they were uncited. The second time I did it as I do not think the sources were strong enough for to back up the claim and might be a bit biased. It would be more appropriate to say something like "The NME referred to the album a link between the stooges and punk rock" or something. But since the sources we have are two webzines that don't seem to have much notibility I'm not sure if they would be strong enough. What do you think? Yes, I believe I was the first to revert this user's edits, and eventually I had no choice but to ask an admin to take a look at the situation. In my opinion, for what it's worth, this user should be permanently banned. He/she has consistently engaged in libel and it is becoming obvious that temporary blocks won't stop him/her. Original research

Hi Freshfighter9, just wondering if you would take a look at a section in the Nackawic, New Brunswick article to see if this is what wikipedia considers original research. The section is about a mill closure and I was kind of surprised to see it remain in the article for several years if my understanding of the policy is correct. It's obviously written from the point-of-view of someone with a stake in the closure. There was a mention of sources which someone seems to have removed. The source had stated the info came from notes the editor took at meetings. It also has alot of pov words, such as, "mill is operating splendidly", " After several discouraging months", "It was very unfortunate". It's quite posible that I may have misunderstood the policy and and interpreted the info wrong, so I would really like to get another editors opinion on this. Also, in an unrelated matter, no sign of the Dexter socks, even the one that had all the big plans for the article. Anyways, I am interested in reading your views on the section. Thanks. Thanks, besides being original research and alot of point-of-view, I would also think a conflict of interest as its quite obvious by the tone and the info provided that the editor was involved somehow. I looked at cleaning it up, but not much would be left. Its been tagged as unsourced since 2007, which makes me wonder how it managed to stay in for so long? I don't think we have a hard rule on it, though I can see (and have operated under) both premises. Personally I think it is okay to add the regular season stats, the numbers are permanent and wont change. Resolute 02:23, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

I noticed from your user page that you are a Senators fan, I am too, and Fisher was by far my favourite player. I understand your concern over the use of "dirty" describing the Mark Bell hit. Just a matter of opinion. The friendship with Derek Mackenzie is personal knowledge of mine, but I will try to find a reliable source for the sake of improving the article.
