Moving some mushroom pages to scientific names edit

Dear Firsfron ol' chum, I tried moving Red-staining Inocybe, and Panther Cap to their respective scientific names but it wouldn't let me. I presume because the latter names had history other than just redirects even though that is what they are now. As per plants we've decided that as they are not cultivated plants and generally better known by scietific names anyway, they should go to them. Unicerosaurus edit

The references indicate in only a passing reference that it is a failed and incorrect name, and there is no demonstration that it is notable. I don't like to see Wikipedia out in front of reliable sources in propagating a term or concept. We should only reflect what has numerous reliable independent attestations. Not all mistakes that get mentioned somewhere are notable. I have seen too many good articles deleted that have far more evidence of notability. Regards. Edison 20:20, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Devotion to Policy Is the First Refuge of the Intellectually Lazy edit

Ah...the human psyche. Such an endlessly amusing thing. Mr. S (I'm guessing it's a he) declares, "[T]here is no need to escalate the FAC to the kind of dialogue you and DCGeist engage in below," but, obviously, our "escalation" (I feel like Nikita Khruschev) has caused him to change his tune. He no longer claims the sources are unreliable. Now he simply asks, "wouldn't it be easier just to complete your references?" Oh, hell. Why not? Let's put him to the test. He represents a particular kind of bureaucratic psychology, one primarily interested in accruing status by enforcing the bureaucracy's rules and systems. Of course, you and I don't think of Wikipedia as a bureaucracy, but someone like S clearly does. Now, due to our completely unnecessary escalation, he's stepped back a bit and moderated his demands. If you meet them, I think he may change his vote, at least eliminate his "strong objection", while, of course, taking credit (accruing status) for getting you to see the light. Whatever. Let him. The article is what matters, and as we both recognize, having it Featured could prove of real benefit to this subject area on Wikipedia, serving as a model for other contributors. It's worth a shot. If he doesn't moderate his opposition, but instead pushes forward with new demands, I'll really escalate...by writing a ten-paragraph-long deconstruction of his response!! (Having already used "pettifoggery," I'll definitely have to hit the thesaurus.)

If the subject is of interest to you, you might like to take a look at B movie and weigh in on its current FAC. If it's not of particular interest to you, please don't feel compelled in the least. Unlike S, I never vote on the candidacy of any article that doesn't specifically interest me (in fact, I believe Du Mont represents the first time I've ever voted on a FAC), and I wouldn't ask anyone else to. Sorry it didn't work out for the article this go-round. The FAC administrator may have jumped the gun in concluding that a consensus for approval wasn't possible. If you care to put in that additional San-dy-manded info, I don't see why it can't be renominated. I think the article could also use a few more images--specific-show-related is what obviously occurs, but there might be other things usable under fair use. It's never been proven to me, but I have the sense that the user-friendly ambience images provide helps in garnering support. They can be quite informative as well--it's one thing to read about the shows DuMont aired; it's another to see some images and get a feel for the contemporary culture and the network's place in it. I should have thought of this before, but obviously got wrapped up in the citation issue. P.S. Thanks for the comments on B movie--they all materially improved the article. Malaysia at the 2006 Asian Games edit

hello firs,
i'm currently editing Malaysia at the 2006 Asian Games and i found out that this article contains so many POV statements (most are unsourced) and sentences so graphic that it does not conform with WP:MOS. e.g. the section Squash states:

"As expected, World no 1 Nicol Ann David exorcised her demons of the last Asian Games......."

also this statement from the secton: Bodybuilding which mentions about Mr. Universe has nothing to do with the Asian Games. i believe this is unnecessary:

"Sazali recently did a training stint with coach Milos Sarcev in California recently, which proved good as he picked up the Mr. Universe title soon after."

Archaeopteryx edit

The sentence "The Berlin specimen has been referred to Archaeornis siemensii, the Eichstätt specimen to Jurapteryx recurva, the Munich specimen to Archaeopteryx bavarica and the Solnhofen specimen was referred to Wellnhoferia grandis." makes no sense. Am I wrong for thinking that including every single person who works at the station shouldn't belong in this article? I removed it once, and it was promptly put back by the original author of the article... I hesitate to remove them again because a) I don't want to be seen as inciting an edit war, and b) I nominated Scholastic Ball Report for deletion (another article he authored) because it doesn't establish notability (it doesn't seem any different to me than any other local sports program). about Dropzink edit

I know that the poor boy got in your nerves with the plastilin models, and i know he is not the must talented artist in the world, but i would like you to consider making your coments in a bit more constructive way. you see he really is trying to help, and he had already quite a bitter time with his models. that he tryes another aproach shows that he got the idea, dont you think? There is also something else you have to consider, and that is. that it takes a lot of effort to get that jump between child drawings and a semi profesional drawing look. in my opinion he is quite close to this point (far more closer than with his models) , and if he gives up right now he may never get to reach that level. wich would be a pity becouse he has already quite a spirit :). I am not telling you to accept whatever he makes, but i think it would be more usefull if you let him know what is ok and what is not from his work, so that he has an idea in how to change things to fit. and doesnt end with the idea "everything i do is wrong" anyway is just a friendly request ;) i have been working on a [amphicoelias], some request for an article. i am almust finished and when i do, then i can come back to the proyect here :) -LadyofHats 10:21, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

AMA debacle edit

I want to formally address not greeting you with a response, and I am sad to see that you have left the organization.

I was the one who added in the line of our joining process to contact the Coordinator, and I thought that it would be an easy way to keep track of new members. Now, with the volume of people who join the AMA weekly, my talk page has been cluttered with so many AMA membership messages that a large number of them have slipped through the cracks (partially aided by Werdnabot regularly archiving my talk page). Since August we've undergone some extensive changes, and many things have been revised. Thescelosaurus edit

Hi, Firsfron;

I'd like that, but I think some of the other project members should give it a once-over, and I'll try to dig up some more images. I've got the photos from the Science Museum, but they don't show the whole animal. I've got pictures of other specimens from other museums ("Willo"'s skull, and the Triebold cast), but I don't always know about their use restrictions. Also, I've got Gilmore's 1915 reconstruction, which is still pretty decent, and should be out of copyright. J. Spencer 04:20, 27 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK. I don't have any back-room photos of Thescelosaurus (although I do have a couple of rolls of a near relative ;) ). If there's not a high bar to GA status, then just looking around, I see a few more, in the 10-20 kb range with images and in-line citations, that might make good choices as well: Amphicoelias, Coelophysis, Microraptor, and Struthiomimus. Philadelphia television station articles edit

I noticed your recent cleanup at KYW-TV, where someone changed that station's affiliation from CBS to PBS. Well, that same user, Jamesinc24, has been similarly vandalising other Philly station articles: WPHL-TV (from MNTV to PBS); WCAU-TV (from NBC to Nick Jr.); WTXF-TV (from Fox to Noggin); and WPSG (from CW to Disney Channel, with call letters reverted to WGBS). He also edited Template:Philly TV to reflect his "changes".

...I'm trying to figure out consensus - it doesn't really spell out the proportions of votes which will render and article successful (2/3rds? absolute? 100%?). Looks OK as there really isn't anything we can do except possibly open a can of worms with a section on posture of shoulder joints....

yes. glad someone is catching such errors. but i agree that it's an extremely poor choice of wording. you might consider taming your use of the word. it's just a mistake. a punctuation correction. the world 'abuse' carries much more meaning in our society and you should be more tactful. I'm not sure what society you are from (possibly not mine), but "apostrophe abuse" is a perfectly valid term: 17,300 hits on Google. I'm not sure why you are assigning a stigma to the word. Dictionary.com defines abuse as "1. to use wrongly or improperly; misuse", so the usage is valid. "Apostrophe abuse is an epidemic in the English language." technically, you are correct. but it also means "to treat in a harmful, injurious, or offensive way;" and "to speak insultingly, harshly, and unjustly to or about;" and "to commit sexual assault upon." the fact that two people have pointed out it's not the best choice of words should tell you something – especially when there are so many other more accurate and precise words to describe the problem. i appreciate your effort citing evidences to prove that my statements are misleading. i believe i'm the one missing something, since i stated that there is no such thing as "less erect". now, i'm objecting to the use of the term: erect. because if it can be more erect, it has to have some kind of a flaccid state. okay, my nose is erect, (it has a bone) but it can never be flaccid, if you get what i mean (so it can never be less erect or more erect it can only be broken :) ). i'm also objecting to the way this article's nomination was made. it is a part of a collaboration, it was peer reviewed, but, it has no good article status (which should have polished it). cheers! --RebSkii 16:35, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Triceratops question: edit

Well I don't see why a phrase can't be said like: "A reoccuring theme in children's dinosaur books is a final showdown or battle between the Triceratops & T. rex. As such these two dinosaurs are often depicted & thoguht of as natural enemies." Then we could slot the text about that show "The truth about killer dinos" & how the guy found about the reality from this sort of fight? Sounds good to me, will post to you both as the current sentence just isn't working too well & could confuse people...

Firsfron, My difficulty with Tony Sidaway began when he unjustly blocked me. I do not harbor a grudge against Sidaway, rather see a pattern of negative conduct in what I perceive as bullying other editors. He justifies it with sophistry, but I do not buy it. If you had a problem with the edits I made to the KYW-TV page, I apologize. It's just that I have all that information stored on a disk and I felt that it shouldn't go to waste. Maybe if the Current Personalities section (or better yet, the entire Personalities section) was spun off into its own article, maybe it would be such a problem. New one by me edit

So I check my watchlist, and an anon IP has been making tiny changes that don't show to numerous dinosaur articles. Why would someone want to go around and turn single spaces into no spaces from articles, when it doesn't cause a change in how articles look, and it doesn't lead to a higher individual edit count (group IP)? re: User:Rmrfstar and Admin Coaching edit

Hey Fang Aili,

Just wanted to comment a little bit on the recent comments on the Admin coaching page. Your comments there were greatly appreciated. I started feeling like Rmrfstar was sort of ignoring any points that were addressed, and, although I feel he makes some valid points (if just a few), I couldn't help but shake the idea that there was more going on to this than what he's said.

It turns out Rmrfstar has had two failed RFAs: here, where he stated "I don't know that I'll do any sysop chores", and here where he stated he wouldn't use the mop very often. This is starting to make more sense to me now. I knew I had seen his name before; I just didn't remember where. I supported his second RFA. This RFA stuck out a bit more in my mind because user:Kelly Martin was a big advocate for him and asked the closing 'crat to ignore twelve of the oppose !votes, which did not happen.

It is clear from Rmrfstar's comments that he doesn't like RFA's "cookie-cutter" approach to granting adminship. I feel, however, that he's targeting the wrong project page, as the RFA process doesn't come from WP:ADMINCOACH, and there doesn't seem to be a way of convincing him otherwise. I really appreciate your comments on the matter and everyone else's too. Personally I have a hard time understanding Rmrfstar's arguments in general; he seems to talk in circles. I don't see how he can argue against people learning about admin tools. It simply makes no sense to me. He also has not provided any evidence of his assertions that the program encourages editcountitis or "cookie-cutter" admins, or any of his other accusations. I agree that he is arguing about the RfA system in general, and less so the admin coaching program. TV Schedules edit

Heyas, I was working with User: A Man In Black, he was giving me references and sources to look for so it maybe added and be "legal", but I couldn't find a reference that said KXGN was the only station left in the nation that was dual-affiliated with 2 of the Big 3 networks. So, today, I added information about the NBC Programming that KXGN airs, which was the reasoning behind the schedule (I made it from the template of the schedule on the NBC page). I know that some felt it took up a whole page, but I am nothing but through:). I feel the section I added explains it, but not in the way I would have liked. Oh well, can't win 'em all. Firsfron, I don't think I need to say that I never said Calton was stalking me. I did, however, say that his constant PMs were to begin with unwarranted and not necessary as he was not part of any conversation I was having. He injected himself into a situation and caused this problem. My "pestering" on his talk page, was nothing more than responses to his PMs on my talk page. I like to respond to people in a timely fashion...if I am online at that moment, I try to respond quite quickly. Calton, obviously doesn't get that I did not ask for his assistance, nor do I want his assistance in the matter of the KXGN page (something I am still working with AMIB on) and obviously my responses to his argumentative PMs were not what he wanted to hear. If Calton wants to continue to rant and rave over this, that is fine, I have better things I can be doing and don't have the time to mess with him, but he needs to be muzzled or something, cause this is getting a tad out of hand. I know why I have a headache now....I reverted, because I seen no reason for the edits or the ifd tags. Just an editor...but Calton continues to miss the big picture and continues to try and throw heat back on me for his continued actions...actions that have gotten him into some serious trouble. Thanks for the note. The simplest -- and most obvious -- explanation for the guy's reverts is...well, "stalking" is far too grandious, so let's call it "childish pique". Brief Comments edit

I have apologized for removing the ifd tags. I didn't think they needed to be deleted (especially the cute dog picture), so I took them down...they were reverted, I have apologized. I am going to continue to work on TV and Radio station edits, but I have decided not to be as "open" as I have been. I feel that has gotten me into this mess. I will try to continue to provide as much information as possible (again, I am nothing if not very through) but not too much that it upsets people (like the schedule on the KXGN page). I checked out Calton's contribs page and it looks like the KXGN page was the only one that he came across, so we probably won't come in contact anymore.

As for the RfC thing, I was directed there by User:Jkelly. I actually didn't even know such a board existed until directed there by JKelly, that is why I opened a thread on WP:AN. I actually did the page on RfC wrong and a couple editors had to correct it. I feel bad that it had to come to an RfC page....I honestly tried to get along with Calton. I did get angry at one point and did tell him to "leave me the hell alone" and to "piss off", I was upset and I let that show through in my posts. For that, I have apologized cause it was uncalled for. I stooped right down to the level of incivility that he was giving me and that was wrong on my part. I honestly try very hard to work with people and I, at times, get a little passionate about the pages I work on (cause I work hard on them...and it takes me awhile cause I am new)...but I am actually working with User:A Man In Black on the KXGN page and we had been at odds for awhile on the image/fair-use thing. I still don't agree with it, but after reading a fair-use law site til my head hurt, I realized that he was....right....and that I was....wrong....and had to swallow my pride and admit it. So, we are working on the KXGN page together....and that is what I tried to do with Calton....but I am not sure what I was doing wrong there. I tried. Anywho, to make a long story short, I am moving on from this, putting myself back behind the scenes, and am just going to edit and update...and try not to piss anyone off. Google search on AWB edit

Hi Mets!

The "google search" function on AWB doesn't appear to work anymore. I originally posted a message to WT:AWB earlier this week, but got no response, except from someone else saying the same thing. I'm not even sure you're the right man to ask, but it appears you were answering questions on the AWB talk page, so I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that you know something about the internal workings of the program. Is this something that is being worked on? Any ideas what happened? Google search on AWB was the best. I used it every week to find common typos and misspellings and fix them quickly and easily. I have tried....honestly. I removed an AfD tag from WRAJ Internet Radio, he showed me the page had been deleted, I respond with "touche" and leave the page be. I move the information to the sister AM radio station [WFTU-AM]], he reverts it, even though it says in the WRAJ article that WRAJ and WFTU are sisters. It is an edit war no-matter-what with him. Can you, as an admin, do something? The RfC didn't work...I am trying to be nice, but nice ain't getting nowhere with him. Note of apology edit

I know this is probably going to do squat for my reputation now (Not that I ever really had one), but I thought I'd leave a note of apology to everyone involved in my recent actions. An explaination is in order too. First off, I had a bad real life situation, that I really don't want to talk about, on the day this all started. I shouldn't have edited on Wikipedia afterwards, but I did. When I saw the situation with Riana's RfA, it kind of set off a build up of unvented anger at my situation & it was un needed. My whole tyraid had very little to do with the RfA, but I guess I took it out on that angle anyway. The way I was handled could have been better, but I wont go there in threat of making this sound like a back handed apology. My apologies go to Riana, who was also having a real life crisis at the time too. Basically the whole thing was a misunderstanding & venting process which I involved you all in. In regard to the whole sock puppetry thing, I had told my brother about my problems in due trust & he went & did something stupid on here. I don't really know what else to say but sorry. If that & a little bit of hard work repairing relationships on here doesn't change your current view point of me, then I don't think anything will. So again, sorry if I've inconvenienced you guys in any way & I hope that over time you'll think better of me. I'd love if you guys could forgive & hopefully forget & I wasn't really in control of myself these past few days. He reverted it each time within a minute. Tonight, I was making honest attempt to inject some civility into the problems that are going on between Calton and I. My attempt was in vain and my words fell on deaf ears. I have tried.

Irritator edit

Firs, you reverted this edit: "The unusual name Irritator is in reference to the fact that its skull was found in several pieces, and its dicoverers were so irritated putting it back together. " back to the Irritator article. The story as I know is that the diggers added plaster to the incomplete skull to make it more impressive and that the paleontologists were quite mad on having to carefully remove it without damaging the fossil (as already explained further down in the article) not because the skull was found in several pieces. Don't remove other editors' remarks from user talk pages edit

Please don't do this again.

If you check the archive of his talk page, you'll see that I (and another editor) have already asked him to cease and desist, and explained to him why his complaint directed at Calton was in error.

While I am disappointed that he hasn't taken the opportunity to correct his remarks, it is often seen as overtly hostile to simply blank another editor's remarks from a talk page. Doing so accompanied by a rude edit summary ('rv strange message') is unnecessarily inflammatory. If Orangemonster2k1 engages in behaviour that seems to be stalking or harrassment, I will block him; in the meantime, please don't stir him up by deleting his comments. First, Firsfron, I appericate your help and your faith in me...and I have apologized already to WPQuidditch for my vandalism in the past. I have since, obviously, corrected that. I am working on some pages as we speak, so I will be adding to my adds and edits here.
TenOfAllTrades, you are right, I should have deleted it myself. That is on me.
I am taking responsibility for my end of things and I know I take things too far and get a little too upset on here. I don't mean to and for that I apologize. I am only here to update radio and TV stations (and anything else that I have knowledge to). I help out when I see vandalism happening and I revert and post it on the WP:AIV board. I want to help, I want to edit...if it were not for the KXGN page, I am quite certain that Calton and I would never have crossed paths. I could kick myself for even editing that damned page. Of the editors that I have had problems with, I have made attempts to patch things up with all of them, including Calton. User:A Man In Black and User:Metros232 and I would get into edit wars and and go back and forth at each other. AMIB and I were working together (which I thought was awesome) on the KXGN when I came across Calton. Metros232 apologized for a mistake revert on my user page. I personally didn't expect him to and I thought it was cool that he did. So, I do my best to get along with everyone. I hate damned arguing. But, when my Aspergers kicks in, I HAVE to have my side heard, not saying that is excuse by any streach, but that is part of why I do what I do.
I like it here (good place to find out cool info about stuff) and would like to stay, but my adds and edits have suffered because of Calton, half the reason, even after I and RSPeer submitted the RfC, I tried to talk to Calton one-on-one and try to explain myself and have even gone as far as to apologize...didn't work. I honestly tried. Yeah, the "language" template thing was a bit much, ya got me there, but in my mind, I was just correcting him on his language and meant nothing rude by it. It "Bob" said something rude that like on a page, I would say the same thing...it was not to encite a response.
I am not a bad guy and I am, as my userpage says, am a reformed vandal (got slapped in the head for that), I update radio and TV pages, and hate arguing. My apologies that my comments were a bit more heated than necessary. I've been trying to get the parties to this most recent dispute to leave each other alone for a bit; I'm sure you've noticed that there's been some bad behaviour all around. When everyone is as twitchy as they've been, I've found that summarily deleting talk page comments – even when they are misplaced – almost always leads to an increase rather than a decrease in the level of ugliness. The problem is that if parties to a dispute see that removing comments is acceptable, they tend to start doing it themselves...it gets nasty.
I was particularly concerned about your edit summary ('rv strange message') as it didn't really explain why you deleted the message. It came across as "I'm deleting this message because I find it odd and not worth reading", when what you meant (I assume) to convey was "I'm deleting this message because it was harrassment, and the editor in question has been warned". Deleting messages from talk pages is not something we do lightly, after all, and it's worth being very clear about our reasoning when we do. Do you see where I'm coming from on this? Question for ya edit

Hey, I was wondering why some of the headers on pages are changed to lowercase. Like on the WFAX page, you switched ==External Links== to ==External links==. I normally capitalize the first letter of each word. I don't mind some of the words being all lowercase, just always confused me. Given his things like his ill-considered RFC and his continual canvassing ([3], [4], [5], [6]), his sudden interest in the mainspace edits I've made in the last few weeks ([7] and [8], [9] [10] readding spam readding spam re-readding spam [11], and his repeated removal of the {{db-repost}} tag from WRAJ Internet Radio and the {{ifd}} tags from four now-deleted images); his canvassing of everyone I've had a disagreement with for the last few weeks, looking for support ([12] [13]); his continual pestering of my Talk page ([14] [15] [16] [17] [18] [19] [20] [21] [22] [23] [24] and [25], the last two about his out-of-policy removals of the {{db-repost}} tag, so particularly rich) despite his repeated claims of "staying away from" me ([26] [27] [28] [29]); and, of course, his cute little "open letter" to "an editor who shall remain nameless"; all of this with the clear intention of seeing me "punished" ([30] [31] [32].

Administrator help, please? (again) edit

Another edit war, this time at YES Network, has been brewing for sometime between myself and another user, NYYankee2684. After I reverted the article to a version that was more simplified, NYYankee2684 re-reverted back -- twice. After I left him comments as to why I made the changes, he deleted them from his talk page -- twice.

I suspect that NYYankee2684 is also using an IP address, "24.48.98.59", as an alias. Edits made by both NYYankee2684 and the IP are similar in both subject and style. The IP also left an uncivil remark directed at me in an edit summary after one of their revertions of the YES Network article. This "user" has also blanked out their talk page, making the connection that much more obvious to me. I have undid the previous revertion again, but please look into this. The temp block on YES Network has been lifted, and NYYankee did a complete revert to the same sloppy version as before. I reverted to the version in effect during the lock, but he changed it back once more. I honestly believe the previous form is a better version, because it is simplified and not all over the place, which makes for a very confusing time for the reasder, but NYYankee wants to put his stamp on this article and make it stick. Eh, you can blame it all on me if the debt collectors come. ;) Well do what you're best at, editing articles. If you edit it up a bit, so it is obviously a GA article, then it won't matter what conflict of interest there was (Not that there was), because everyone will know it deserves to be a GA. I looked at it objectively & was quite impressed. I've never heard of it before & was surprised to see it was actually quite good & deserved of GA status. Archaeopteryx edit

I'd very much like to nominate Archaeopteryx for FAC. However, I know it is nowhere near the standard needed. I've done some reworking & thoguht that nothing would be better than a 3 person collaboration. The article is truly a mess. It is very important to all aspects of paleontolgy etc, & deserves a better article. Iguanodon is going superbly with little to none on the task list for it, so I see no reason why you'd not be able to lend a hand. I was hoping for myself, Cas & you to be able to work on it at least to sorta suitable standard. I've made a start, but am nowhere near as capable as you guys. If the day ever did come to nominate, I'd love to do that as well & I will help out heaps to earn that right. I just don't think I have the right knowledge to do a techinical rewrite of the subject like you two do. Team effort edit

In the spirit of reducing the amount of Wikipolicies and obviating confusion (see WP:LAP), drafts are in progress for a unified deletion policy here, and a unified protection policy here. These should really be team efforts, so since you commented on the matter earlier I would like to ask your help. The intent is not to change policy, merely to clarify and remove reduncancy; thus, anything that inadvertently changes the meaning should be fixed. We should be ready to move the drafts over the existing policies soon, but this needs more feedback and consensus, otherwise it'll just get reverted by people who "like the old thing better". I agree. Fred Spindler's artworks are unvaluable additions to the wiki articles so let's not disappoint him with copyvio issues (I like the Spinosaurus and the Huayangosaurus!). Noted a few others (from various artists): this one was spotted earlier by LoH. There are also this one and that one from I guess S. Kirk which were downloaded from a site which is itself in copyvio. Also noticed that this user has started downloading every artworks from Todd Marshall. All the images have the tag "copyrightfreeuseprovided" which might be alright but is there a signed proof of it? Alas, I've hit a dead wall on Archie... I'll give an update & maybe you can see if you would be able to do anything? I've created a Description section & merged many elements of the article into it. I've shuffled around the headers a bit. I've redone the opening a tad. I've deleted the pop culture section until more can be added. I've (with Cas's help of course) finished what inline citations there were, but refs are still not inline. Other than that, the prose is bad, which I've tried to fix, Taxonomy is wierd & probably needs to go under a subheader, The opening still needs work & overall more stuff & pics need to be added... Metromedia edit

Another day, another edit war: They call me Mr. Pibb has been making edits that are not factual and redundant in nature. Mostly on the radio station chart, where he's been adding -AM and -FM suffixes after each set of call letters. I commented that it was both redundant and innacurate, as AM radio stations don't use the -AM suffix officially, and only some -- but not all -- FM stations do. I also noted that we try to be as accurate as possible with the use of call letters in the station articles, and hoped that he would understand why I reverted his changes. It didn't work.

He now claims I have broken WP:3RR, which I have not, and he's looking towards mediation. Help, please?

BTW: at no point have I labeled any of his changes as vandalism, nor did I do such thing with NYYankee at YES Network. Rollosmokes 06:45, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:Rollosmokes obviously does not understand the edits that I am making, first off you need to put AM and FM after the call signs in to distingush the differences between two separate radio stations using the same call letters in the same market and the fact that they might have two separate Wikipedia articles, Second the one row under Radio stations is shown as Current owners there is no need to put Owned by Clear Channel Communications or Owned by CBS Radio after each company because it has already been established in the top row line that this part is a list of CURRENT OWNERS. My edits are proper and it is my personal opinion that User:Rollosmokes is attempting to intimidate me by stating on my talkpage "You can go to mediation all you want to, but I'm still going to an administrator", This matter shouldn't be handled by an administrator, A request for mediation has been made and should be handled by person who is non-bias, How do I know that this administrator you've requested isn't a friend of yours who will be bias and vote only in your favor? Well, "hate"'s a strong word. They do get to be a chore, especially if no one else has conveniently written them up elsewhere on the Internet. When I started editing, I used the "(Someguy, 2005)/ref at end" style, then I switched to the "footnote/ref list" style, and now I'm shifting gears to the template style. Hello Firsfron. I do not wish to muck up article talk pages with things such as this, so I came here. You indicated you thought I had misrepresented your edits on the Talk:Roman Catholic Church page. In rereading the talk page, in all honesty I could not understand how I did that.

I will tell you up front that the only conscious rewrite I made was a good faith interpretation of another editor's (Richard) edits. However, I confess I am not above either misunderstanding someone, or just failing to precisely word my own thoughts. Could you explain exactly how you see that I did misrepresent you? I do take those things very seriously, as I never wish to misrepresent anyone.

Problems with User:Rollosmokes again edit

I just got a new and what I consider a very aggressive post on my talk page from User:Rollosmokes stating "Since you insist on making these needless and redundant changes to the article (and are trying to prove a point by doing so), I have once again asked Firsfron to interject. I am also requesting that the Metromedia article be locked and protected from editing until this crap dies down.". Apparently he waited until his temporary ban was over to start harassing me on my talk page again, I want to make clear that as of this post and prior to (except when I was advising him that I had requested mediation of the Metromedia article) and during his temporary ban I made no contact with him whatsoever. If you read my talk page you will clearly see that I made my point of why I made the edits to Metromedia and in fact one other Wikipedian agrees with me that my edits are warranted to remove what we both consider redundant information in the article. I would like to formally request that some action be taken, possibly another temporary ban until User:Rollosmokes learns to play nice with other Wikipedians. Thank you for your time. I've come against a wall in Archie - I've recieved a scientific paper from another editor here, but can't make much use of it. It says it's about a tenth specimen (not including feather) & I've started a paragraph on it in the article. However, it sounds very similar to the "Thermopolis specimen". Another problem is that I can't really read too indepth into those scientific things, just skim the surface. I'd love if you'd be able to check it out & see if you can make any sense of it. It would help discern whether 1)It is the Thermopolis specimen. 2)If it's the tenth specimen. 3)Anything else that could be of use to the article. I would be forever in debt if you would be able to salvage anything from the paper - you don't seem to call on any favours too often though. Ye of little faith! With that PDF, I think the article will be ready. I've cut down the number of red links - 1 had a mistake in it - & everything else can easily be fixed. The long list of species - I don't know why that's a problem? No DOI's? What are they if I may ask? And with the PDF there'll be 23 refs as well as the non-inline ones... No rush - I said I'd wait. There's no problem, it's only an article. If it fails, it fails, nothing lost at all. Still don't get the DOI's, but will check out the compy FAC to explain. I'm working on the red link problem - posted one on the rewards board. Isn't a hard task so should be done soon with a kind message in the right place - I'm good at persuation... Muahaha... But personally, I think that it's the quality that counts and not the quantity. Doing 100 spelling or grammar edits is not as good as writing (or re-write a section) of an article. Red links in Archie edit

I told you I'd help out. Out of the 11 red links you counted, I've removed 2 so far - 1 had a mistaken article name & the other I got created by posting it's creation on the rewards board & soliciting it on the science help desk. I may do the same with the other red links too, as people always love a reward at the end of hard work. At least stuff's getting done. In regard to the 2 specimens being the same - I knew it may have been possible, but I agree, how many remains does thermopolis have!? Have a nice sleep. It's still kinda early here. I placed an NPOV tag on this section (actually twice) and both times it was removed despite the fact that the dispute has not been resolved. On this second occasion, it was completely ignored. I saw recently in the newspaper the article on the man who lied about his credentials, which led me to review this page again. I should inform you that someone has changed the article The White Shadow to The Black Shadow. Having watched the show myself back in the late '70s and early '80s, I know that's not true. In regard to the page Dinosaurs by size - how long since it was last updated? Archie hasn't changed in size on the page, despite my numerous expansions. KAMR edit

Hey, FoR... I received a message from User:Kida97 about the KAMR article. (She sent it to me over LiveJournal; I'm guessing she doesn't know how to use talk pages.) The gist of it is that she believes non on-air staff should still be listed in the article because they (the station employees, collectively) wanted to leave it there - regardless of whether or not the same information is listed on other TV station articles.

I left her a message on her talk page, explaining why I did what I did, why I believe it falls under WP:LC, and how it may also bring up a WP:COI issue as well.
