Dudhwa National Park

I am interested to visit Dudhwa National Park in Nov'08. I tried to get the required information like where to stay (I am interested to stay inside the park in a forest rest house), whom to contact, Contact numbers of concerned persons but failed to do so.

It would be really helpful if you please let me know how I can prepare my detail itinerary and enjoy Dudhwa NP

Hallo, I found the pictures of elephants from Dudhwa.

I am making a database with captive elephants at www.elephant.se dudhwa is at http://www.elephant.se/location2.php?location_id=984 and used your picture with an elephant cow and baby, giving you credit as photographer.

Id be intersted in more facts from there, like the name of the baby, and the mother, abd whatever facts you may have, alt a contact that I could mail to get more info.

Hi Faizhaider. I have some concerns about your recent edits. Firstly, please do not add festivals and holidays that are not held on specific days of the Gregorian calendar to the entries on individual dates, even if that festival will be held on a certain day of a given year, e.g. 2008. I first noticed such an edit on October 30, and it appears you have made others. Secondly, I wonder if you could explain why you are creating pgaes such as Portal:Uttar Pradesh/Anniversaries/October /October 18? Pages which exist solely to say "no event" are of no utility to the Wikipedia project. I would appreciate it if you could stop making edits such as these. I see now that these "empty" pages are being transcluded on monthly list pages. The end result may look the same, but is there any reason why you cannot simply add entries to the monthly pages themselves? Seems this would be far easier to edit and maintain, for yourself and other users. Deiz talk 14:56, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

As far as I am aware, articles about specific dates should only mention annual festivals, holidays and remembrances which are held on exactly those dates every year - in that respect, pages about individual dates are "timeless". For notable occurences, about which a specific WP article exists (eg airplane disasters, royal coronations etc etc), the events are listed by year in the appropriate section. Hence while Diwali could be appropriately mentioned on October, it should not be noted as a festival on October 30 and other date pages.

My concern about the empty / very short pages for celebrations on individual dates in the Uttar Pradesh portal it that it is difficult for other editors to edit this information. If all the information were directly included on the monthly pages, rather than transcluded from a variety of other pages, it would be far more fitting with the Wikipedia philosophy of "editability". I can't see any compelling reason to create 365 pages about individual days, especially when many exist simply to state "no event". Would you consider merging the information from the individual pages back to the monthly pages so it can be edited directly by any interested user? Thanks, Deiz talk 04:44, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Uttar Pradesh Map

The map of Uttar Pradesh regions that you've recently uploaded is only partially correct. Upper Doab, Central Doab and Awadh are correct. But Lower Doab, Purvanchal, Baghelkhand and Bundelkhand are all wrong. First of all Baghelkhand is a very small region and barely touches UP at the South-Eastern end. Allahabad district south of Ganga-Yamuna, parts of Mirzapur and Sonabhadra district can be considered to be Baghelkhand and not Purvanchal. What you've shown as Baghelkhand is actually completely Bundelkhand. And finally lower Doab goes all the way to Sangam and does not end at Kanpur. Now it is somewhat better, but it can be made even better still. If you could show the two rivers, Ganga and Yamuna, things can be clearer around Allahabad. Allahabad city, which lies in the Allahabad district west of Sangam, is a part of lower Doab (by definition). Allahabad district North of Ganga can go with either Awadh or Purvanchal and Allahabad district South of Ganga-Yamuna along with Mirzapur will go into Baghelkhand. I have made language maps for U.P., Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttaranchal. I am not sure of the Haryana map, but the rest are pretty simple and clear. I don't know if Wikipedia would accept them as I've used maps from mapsofindia.com. Maquahuitl^talk! 05:10, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Yes it seems to be correct. Except for the fact that there are some districts where the actual boundaries lie, and the boundaries which are apparent are not the actual boundaries. What has been done is that every district has been shown with the dominant language in it, therefore if some tehsils speak the neighbouring language(s), that is not clear here and therefore the boundaries apparent are not the actual boundaries. Initially I had made this kind of map, but then I reverted to the simple demarcation around district boundaries because that was simpler. However, there will be an issue with districts like Allahabad, for example, where west of Sangam speaks Awadhi, north of Ganga speaks Awadhi and makes a transition onwards to Bhojpuri, and the part south of Ganga-Yamuna speaks Bagheli. Similarly for Kanpur. If Kanpur Dehat and Kanpur Shehar are considered as one district(as they were earlier), the Eastern part speaks Awadhi while the Western Kannauji. Therefore I've shown the Dehat district as speaking Kannauji. Maquahuitl^talk! 03:22, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Numbering

I think for both the sake of simplicity nad WP:UNDUE we should not emphasize the Nizari numbering system till later on. At this point in history the Nizari did not exist, so it's a bit revisionist to include their numbering scheme, and it will be complex for readers to understand. Our note that the Nizari rejected Hasan (he is a Pir not an Imam) on the Ali, Hasan, and Husayn timelines should make this clear enough. That's a good idea, let's remove all the sects until splits occur. Since Zaidi aren't Imami Shi'a (their conception of Imamate differs from traditional Twelver-Ismaili), we will keep "Shi'a Imam" till as-Sadiq, and then split it from there to Musa al-Kadhim as a Twelver Imam, and Ismail ibn Jafar as an Ismaili Imam (as you can see on his page, I address the numbering issue). lol, I could tell you were Twelver from your name! --Enzuru 06:40, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
