Speedy deletion nomination of Encontext advertising

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Encontext advertising, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Karl 334 TALK to ME 19:35, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Blocked

edit

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block. ~Amatulić (talk) 19:46, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Give me one reason why I should apologize to someone who categorize our service and company as follows: "obscure solution coming from an obscure companies"

I invite you to come to our website and evaluate for yourself what we do and if the statement "obscure solution coming from an obscure companies" stands the test then let's terminate this pointless discussion and terminate my access. I frankly have no illusion about this and while the attempt to list our services and company based on what we have on our website may not have been the best approach, treating as some kind of SPAM is taking this to the extreme.

Thanks.

Article written is to explain a new solution for advertising online using embedded tags and links on videos that are connected to a data base that match and optimize each link to a product or information. This is a new process that is patent pending and while the article may not be written in the best of ways, it certainly is not an attempt to Spam and I am deeply offended by this insinuation. After all the person who placed the block, Amatulic himself explains his background and reference is a Project Manager Professional status! Can this be interprested as a way to promote himself/herself? Strictly speaking... Probably yes!

Decline reason:

Two things - 1, you did not suggest a new username so this would be declined procedurally and 2 - please read WP:NOTTHEM and get back to us. I read the deleted content, and it clearly did not reflect a neutral encyclopedic tone. Syrthiss (talk) 18:15, 4 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I advise you to read carefully the block message I posted above before attempting another unblock request. Particularly read Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:20, 4 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have read as suggested by the editor the WP.NOTTHEM and obviously I was wrong criticizing or comparing this person own posting. However, I do not believe that the article written was or is intended as self promotion but rather as an information article that talks about a solution offered by EnContext Advertising. Can I write it differently? Frankly I do not know how I could write a bout a company's solution when it is unique to that company, hence difficult to dissociate what this article covers from this company. If there is a better way to write this article I am opened to suggestions but I feel offended that I am blocked indefinitely for simply trying to bring to the attention of people who are interested in video advertising a solution that is truly unique!

Decline reason:

We don't get to write about ourselves or our businesses on Wikipedia. --jpgordon::==( o ) 02:24, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

You are failing to understand a few points:

  • You wrote a promotional article.
  • You apparently have a conflict of interest.
  • You missed the part in Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks about promising not to involve yourself in this subject if you are unblocked.
  • The article fails WP:CORP and WP:NOTABILITY criteria for inclusion, so it would be deleted again on those grounds even if it were written in a less promotional tone. Notability is not determined by how innovative or special something is, but by coverage in reliable, independent, secondary sources.
  • Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not describes all the purposes that Wikipedia is not intended to serve. One of those purposes is to provide publicity or a promotion channel for what seems to be an obscure product by an obscure company.

Your unblock request hasn't demonstrated that you understand these points. ~Amatulić (talk) 01:07, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Understand where you are coming from and thanks for categorizing this solution as an "obscure solution coming from an obscure companies". Obviously you don't seem to know much about the growth of video on the 'Net. However, I agree and I will not write about my own own company and this is understood and will lie by the rule. However for the sake of better understanding how you differentiate promotion and article do you mind explaining how wikipedia have obvious promotional item on companies like for example "dealtaker" listed on wikipedia while rejecting this explanation of a solution. I am extremely curious to understand the differentiation

Decline reason:

That's an argument, not an unblock request. — Daniel Case (talk) 15:15, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
DealTaker is currently being discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DealTaker. Some things slip through the net. At first. They usually get caught up with. Apart from which, look at WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Personally, I know enough about video on the net to use a machine with AdBlock Plus installed and no Flash when I am editing here. I often have to visit sites that I wouldn't otherwise go on, and the reduction in advertising that this affords me makes life easier. I do realise that some people enjoy looking at adverts. I don't. With reference to your comments about Amatulić, I feel that an apology is called for. I feel that your remark about him 'promoting' himself is totally uncalled for. I would be interested to know what sort of editing you would be doing if you get a new username and don't edit matters in which you have a conflict of interest. Peridon (talk) 09:44, 5 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Having just looked at your article, I wonder how you could feel 'offended by the insinuation' of spamming with material like "EnContext Advertising is a global solution that offers advertisers the ability to encode a single program with multiple advertising opportunities" in it.
