Speedy deletion nomination of EMC VPLEX edit

A tag has been placed on EMC VPLEX, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ... discospinster talk 19:35, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Removing Speedy at EMC VPLEX edit

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with EMC VPLEX. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 21:10, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with EMC VPLEX. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 21:31, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I did not see these messages as a new user and did not realize I had done something wrong, even after reading the how to information on using Wikipedia. I was asked to do a rush request and tried ramping up quickly. I am now fully aware and would like to request to be unblocked. Thank you!

Decline reason:

If there had been one or two messages I'd believe you. But not with all these. Plus you haven't addressed the conflict of interest question below. — Daniel Case (talk) 13:44, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

What is your relationship with EMC? (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:32, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am a tech writer at EMC who was asked to do a Wikipedia page and was not fully aware of all involved or what was required, it was a rush request that I undertook.

See Wikipedia:New contributors' help page#New and confused. – ukexpat (talk) 15:58, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that is me asking for help and what I was doing wrong. I thought that if I reworded the content, as mentioned, it would be acceptable and not considered an ad. {{Unblock on hold|1=Fastily|2=I admit to removing the tags because I did not fully understand what they were and it was honestly a mistake. I have been spending most of today to read the requirements and regulations so this will not happen again. It was in my haste to try to complete a task requested without full understanding.|3=Beeblebrox (talk) 18:35, 14 May 2010 (UTC)}}Reply

I'm thinking of unblocking you, but we need to be sure you understand that you should not be writing an article on your employer at all. You could request an article and see if a neutral third party could come up with something acceptable, but an employee being ordered and paid to write an acceptable article has an insurmountable conflict of interest. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:35, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I understand fully, I really do. I thought it would be something fun to learn and do without understanding all that was involved. I also have explained to the person who requested it we cannot do this because I believe they had no idea either and I will review the request an article for us.

Also consider alternative outlets such as Wikicompany. – ukexpat (talk) 18:58, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
