Help me! edit

Please help me with...

OProblem with inserting a photograph - copyright/ updating status of the page ==

− − Dear Helper

− my nickname is Eeevanwok and I am the contributor of the article "Daphne Lorraine Gum".

− (1) I found a photograph of the subject of my article (with her sister) on the internet. I obtained permission to use the photograph in this article (by email). I uploaded the image and tried to post it in the article. I filled out the "non-free" information form as part of this process, through the something-or-other-wizard. Then I got a page with confusing messages on it, asking for further information. All I can do is repeat what I have already said.

− (2) the article has an annotation at the top of it about how it can be improved. I have made some of those improvements, but the note has not been updated.

− Can you please help? I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your assistance. Lesley Jakobsen

Hi Lesley. Let's see if I can't help you out here...
  1. Assuming that the email you've received gives the correct permissions (it will need to contain text similar to that at this page; something that says, "You can use my photo on Wikipedia" isn't sufficient), you can forward it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org . If you like, you can attach a copy of the picture. An OTRS volunteer will then be able to apply a tag to the image to show that it is correctly licenced.
  2. Those maintenance tags don't update automatically - if you feel you've addressed the issues raised, you can just remove the tag yourself (look for a bit of code near the top of the page that says {{cleanup}} or something similar, and delete it).
Hope that helps, but feel free to ask on my talkpage if you need more assistance. Yunshui  12:59, 4 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Miss Gum (right) and her sister Denise Jakobsen at Scosa exhibition, University of South Australia on the 24 November 2010. Photograph courtesy of the copyright owner, Ms Rosey Boehm.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Miss Gum (right) and her sister Denise Jakobsen at Scosa exhibition, University of South Australia on the 24 November 2010. Photograph courtesy of the copyright owner, Ms Rosey Boehm.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TLSuda (talk) 11:35, 4 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Messed up formatting edit

Hello, I was trying to edit the page I contributed, DAPHNE LORRAINE GUM to bring details up to date because Miss Gum died on the 28th February 2017. I'm sorry to say that when I tried to add a line with those details in the introductory part, I mucked up the formatting, apologies. Can you help? I think the rest of it is ok. Thank you Eeevanwok (talk) 01:05, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
