Speedy deletion of Bruce H. Billings edit

A tag has been placed on Bruce H. Billings requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi, Ciara edit

and thanks for your contributions. While your aim to include all the presidents of the society may be laudable, I fear that you may not be going about it in the best possible way in the long term. Perhaps you can understand that Wikipedia doesn't need articles about the president of every society in the world, so just making articles with that claim is liable to run into trouble. I suspect that the presidents of the Optical Society of America are notable for other things other than the just the presidency thing. If they meet the criteria for notability per WP:BIO or more specifically WP:PROF then it will be worth your while to go more slowly, and expand the articles immediately with more details about why they meet our criteria for inclusion (including secondary reliable sources). Otherwise you might meet with some frustration as articles get deleted. Hope this helps, and let me know if I can help and advise in any way by leaving a message here or on my talkpage. --Slp1 (talk) 02:55, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Looks like you are doing great work!! Keep it up, and let me know if I can help in any way.--Slp1 (talk) 01:14, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

James G. Baker edit

Hi! I redirected James G. Baker to an existing article under the title James Gilbert Baker. I have not yet merged your detail about him being an OSA president in case you wanted to. Thanks for your contributions! THEN WHO WAS PHONE? (talk) 08:04, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
