Speedy deletion nomination of The Saints Cosmas and Damian Society edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Saints Cosmas and Damian Society, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Go Phightins! (talk) 00:56, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of The Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian edit

Hello Cdfeast,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Danrok (talk) 01:52, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

September 2012 edit

Hello, Cdfeast. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article The Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. If you want to create this page another time, you would need to read the guidelines regarding conflict of interest, neutral point of view, and so on. We can't copy/paste content from any existing sources, with some exceptions such as quoting sentences from interviews. Danrok (talk) 12:43, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of The Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Removing Speedy at The Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian edit

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from The Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian. Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
  2. This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willing to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 01:23, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Cdfeast, the above editors revert was incorrect and I have removed the content you tried to remove. Please continue to remove the copyright violation so your article can be saved. Thanks, LegoKontribsTalkM 01:35, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Apology edit

Sorry about the warning above. I did not realize you were removing copyrighted material. May I suggest using an wp:edit summary so that I and others don't misunderstand your intentions? Again, my apology. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 01:38, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

warning and advice edit

Once more, you copied the material from the feat web site. This is just plain not acceptable. Even if you had written the material there, and wished to explicitly license the rights to the material according to our licensing, the material there is intended to promote the festival as much as describe it, and would not be acceptable here. If the references on the feast web page are in fact substantial, and published, it might be possible to write an article. But you must do it from scratch. Use that page and other sources only as information for you to use in doing original writing. And add formal references to published sources. Avoid not just copying , but Close paraphrase.

If you once more add copyvio, you will probably be blocked. Do it right. DGG ( talk ) 02:52, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
