Rideau Hall

Hiya Cam. Ya know, RH would make a nice official residence for the 'President of Canada', eh? PS- I'm always hopefull, ha ha. GoodDay (talk) 15:57, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Ahh, but like PoC says, RH is drab. As for pomp & pagentry? the White House puts on shows aswell. Mind you, a Canadian President (in Canadian tradition) wouldn't be so showy. GoodDay (talk) 16:17, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Still though, the White House can have pomp & pagentry (per indiviual President's style), though not as well as the British monarchy (note: Canadian monarchy is less showy). Perhaps Rideau Hall needs a re-do (sorry, couldn't help myself). GoodDay (talk) 16:27, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

From G2's page. The Canadian republican movement likely needs every nickel they can get. GoodDay (talk) 20:29, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Re: How're things

Yes, I know. :D I've been so bogged down with schoolwork, I haven't had time to fit it in. I'm on vacation starting Thursday, so I'll be back soon. miquonranger03 (talk) 21:24, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Oh no, Huggle's broken! Drat. Lupin's rollback doesn't work for non-admins, and I've never really learned how to use Twinkle efficiently. There are a few tools available, but I really have no desire to try anything else at the moment. For now, I suppose, I'll have to write articles. Who does that these days? :D miquonranger03 (talk) 06:02, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

I feel welcome :)

Thank you, and kudos on the projects, they are, as you say, right up my alley. And I am, of course, a Monarchist, I find the idea of republicanism in New Zealand, or most of the 'old' Commonwealth scary, because I, myself, admire the Queen, and enjoy the idea of a hereditary ruler, even though I live thousands of kilometers away. :) Taifarious1 13:05, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

They do sound like me, although there is one thing about the royal family that bugs me a bit, the fact that I was never part of it, but i suppose it was not meant to be, I will just have to settle for being a subject. And whoever said "the sun never sets on the British empire" is rather daft, its 2 in the morning here, black as the ace of spades. I love colloquialisms. And BTW, that commonwealth realms talk page is full, someone should archive that soon, or start handing out compasses to people when they want to contribute ;P And I think the New Zealand standard is still the best looking, all the others are all cluttered but NZ's one seems really pilgrim-ish and spartan, maybe the creator was trying to say something about NZ. Deep as a paddling pool . . . :) Taifarious1 13:25, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Sort of. I think if one of the major root problems are eliminated, there'll be less issues/disputes and more harmonious editing. After investigating for 6 hours and a bit, I've made my first move. Ncmvocalist (talk) 19:34, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

If you find the same extent of disruptive conduct on the part of PrinceOfCanada, let me know - I looked at each editors involvement in that 6 hours, and while I did find that others haven't been saints, their misconduct has not even remotely matched the problems associated with that user. That sort of misbehavior is unambiguously unacceptable at any level, and incompatible with the editing model at Wikipedia. Ncmvocalist (talk) 19:50, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Baubles and OOOH SHINY

I have that template on my watchlist ;) Ps, was going to bring up there.. I'm not sure the template should be called 'Jewels of Liz II'; almost everything in the navbox is property of the State (oversimplifying; you know what I mean). Prince of Canada t | c 19:47, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps rename 'other' to 'see also'? Prince of Canada t | c 19:52, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
I put a modified version on the template page, wrapped in noinclude tags. I'll have to pop down to the library and see what I can find on Her Madge's pretty rocks and things. Prince of Canada t | c 20:25, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi.. I think the many new additions to the Crown Jewels navbox may be making it a bit unwieldy. I've created a version specifically for EIIR's personal jewels; perhaps we can restore the Crown Jewels template to only Crown (& related, e.g. George Diadem, crown of India) Jewels? What do you think? Prince of Canada t | c 13:58, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg

Hi Cameron!

I noticed that you recently removed the claim stating that the Mountbatten-Windsor family is a cadet branch of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Technically speaking, since the Duke of Edinburgh was born a Prince of Greece and Denmark, his male-line descendants are of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg making the Mountbatten-Windsor family a cadet line of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Why should it not be included in the article? Just curious ;) --Caponer (talk) 23:11, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

ANI case

Hiya Camer. It ain't looking good for G2 at the moment, as I fear they're a few editors out there who are peeved with him (past pesonality conflicts). My Wiki senses tells me that Arbcom is nearing. GoodDay (talk) 13:40, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Indeed, an RFC would be more appropiate (also, why wasn't G2's case at Wikiquette?). I just feel that for whatever reasons, some editors have felt rubbed the wrong way by our buddy & things could get ugly. PS- It was great to see Tharky come to the defence. Your "buddy" has a real problem. If you were interested in his welfare, you'd advise him to voluntarily take a break for two months or so, to get some perspective. That would take the heat right off. --Lawe (talk) 18:17, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

They'll never let me forget about the buddy comment. GoodDay (talk) 18:44, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

I've never met JW. In fact, I've only posted a question at his talk-page once ('bout over a year ago). I've never got a response from him. GoodDay (talk) 19:37, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

When/where did I defend JW? GoodDay (talk) 19:44, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Just when I thought nobody was peeking (ha ha). Hey, JW has more executive authority then a constitional monarch. PS- If he has children? are they in a sorta Wikipedia Chief line-of-succession? GoodDay (talk) 19:51, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Ooch, that n-word has gotta go. GoodDay (talk) 19:56, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Much better. I didn't want anybody seeing the mistake & then make accusations against ya (thus the reason I scratched it). GoodDay (talk) 20:05, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

JW can be blocked or indef banned, just like the rest of us. GoodDay (talk) 20:15, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
And which admin (soon to be ex admin) would have the courage to do that? Jack forbes (talk) 20:22, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Haha, planning a coup d'état are you Jack? ;) --Cameron* 20:52, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Honestly guys, he can be blocked or indef banned. If he comitted the crime? he'd do the time. GoodDay (talk) 20:53, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Actually I believe he blocked somebody for using their off wiki influence to hinder a large donation to Wikimedia. Many were unhappy but no-one would dare block the God-King! ;) --Cameron* 20:56, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't blame JW one bit. Trying to stop any donation to Wikimedia is blasphemis (and I'm atheist, too). GoodDay (talk) 21:00, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Curiousity won me over. I've asked Administrator Deacon, about JW's status: Does he have absoute powers? or is he just one of us. GoodDay (talk) 21:09, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
I imagine by the rule book he is just one of us, but in reality he will have all the powers he needs. Jack forbes (talk) 21:12, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Oh silly me, I wasn't putting in www. PeterSymonds has found some absolutely stunning pictures of Pss Margaret that he's trying to get permission for. And yes, I love that photo.. I'm not the biggest fan of the Girls tiara (the Vladimir is my hands-down favourite), but it's nice. I have wept for years that Margaret's son sold the Poltimore. Ugh! I wanted to see Elizabeth in it, just once. roux ] [x] was prince of canada 17:03, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Npg are actually quite cheeky, they claim copyright on images that are over 400 years old. I could easily upload such images without getting into trouble it's just they only display the low resolution version...for copyright reasons! *grrr* I know what you mean about the tiaras, it's such a shame when these things leave the family! The poltimore tiara is just one of many that has left the family. Personally I live the Vladimir Tiara best with the emeralds in, especially when she wears an emerald necklace to match...divine! ;) --Cameron* 17:18, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

CSD pages

Hey, I just noticed you tagging new pages... good job but can you also warn the creators afterwards? (Like {{subst:nonsensepage|page name|header=1}} on the talk page or even the levels of warnings for inappropriate pages.) Thanks! -- Mentisock 12:24, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Well, WP:NPP only provides a summary of the process (since tagging articles isn't the only thing that's done on npp) - WP:CSD may explain more, and if you're doing it manually the template itself quotes the templated warning you should give the creator (like "Please consider placing the template: {{subst:Db-test-notice|Peter A. Barelkowski|header=1}} ~~~~ on the talk page of the author.".) Otherwise WP:TW can very efficiently tag the page and warn the user simultaneously (that's what I use currently). Regards, -- Mentisock 12:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
It is optional... all of this is optional after all. Just as optional as warning users after they vandalize I guess... you don't want to continue reverting them forever; revert, warn, revert again and then block. The CSD warnings are similar. -- Mentisock 12:50, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Granny's Chips

My guess--wild guess--would be that when the Cullinans were given there was far less distinction between property of the State vs property of the Monarch, at least when it came to things like crowns and jewels. Or to put it another way, the only distinction was property of HM-in-right-of-the-UK versus property of HM. So a portion of the latter became de facto part of the former; cf Buck House, Windsor, Westminster.. roux ] [x] 19:11, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
